Reminder that Genesis, Angeal, and Sephiroth are all like 22-23 at the start of Crisis Core. They were very young men. College aged. They were only JUST above the legal age for drinking. And out of the three of them, Genesis is the only one who makes it to his thirties alive. Sephiroth and Angeal both die heartbroken, desperate, and in a state of extreme instability. And what's worse is that Zack, who is only just shy of eighteen by the end of it, is the one who ultimately has to fight them.

They were kids. They were still just kids. Kids who shouldn't have been there. Kids who deserved better. Kids who never asked to be part of Shinra's cruel machinations. Kids who laughed, cried, fought, and fell apart. Kids unwittingly destined to become murderers, monsters.

Kids who were doing their very best.
