IT’S FINALLY UP
Chapters: 1/2 Fandom: Danny Phantom, Tremors (Movies 1990-2020)
Summary:
Burt Gummer has been called many things: Doomsday Prepper, Gun Enthusiast, Monster Hunter. He rejects all these labels. What he is, is a Survivalist. But even Survivalists need vacations.
OR Burt Gummer tries to go on a vacation when he finds an abandoned secret government lab funded by the mysterious Graboid Investigation Ward, and discovers government cover-ups, conspiracy, human experimentation, and maybe… a new assistant. Too bad for these G-men in White, Burt Gummer is fully loaded on ammo, and all out of mercy. Let’s go hunt some Graboids.
Takes place between Tremors 6 and 7, 2003 show mentioned but not essential for reading.
The Graboid Investigation Ward logo I designed for my Tremors: Haunted Dunes fic
hey guess what set up a fantastic way to have a Danny Phantom crossover?
Dungeon Meshi basically said that Ancient Magic comes from the Infinite Realms
I may just keep reblogging this every time there's a perfect setup for a DP crossover
I'm noting this part down but idk if we want to say that ghosts are demons... then again, it could be the basis for what the Fentons/GIW believe
watch me get onto an fbi watchlist by googling "fast-acting poison gas that dissipates quickly" for the sake of a fan fiction

I've been writing a fic (woo!) and I wanted to post it on a specific date (very soon) because it would be a big reference to one of the fandoms in the fic
HOWEVER, life, as it does, has gotten in the way, and I've only finished about a third to half of it, but GOOD NEWS, it's at a relatively good breaking point
So, which one would yall rather have?
Post the first chapter soon (less than a week)
Wait until I've completed the fic (idk, probably another month or so if I focus)
Okay I'll upload it this Sunday, but be warned... Danny only comes in at the very end of the chapter
... and also the other fandom is probably something like 99% of you didn't even know had a sequel, let alone 7 movies and 1 season of a TV show (this fic is set between movies 6 and 7), but the first movie was pretty popular so you've almost certainly heard of it
I don't want to hype it up too much, but i also don't want to spoil it because it'll be such a surprise but also i'm just super super excited about it

Okay SO I'm writing a crossover fic with a movie that came out in October 2020, but in the movie, there is a scene where if you look close it says August 2019. The date is only relatively important because im trying to keep track of the date in order to make a date-based reference.
October 2020: Pro: I can keep my dates the way they are in what I've already written. Con: Less technically accurate to the movie.
August 2019: Pro: More technically accurate to the movie. Con: I'd have to change my dates and I wouldn't be able to make my date-based reference.
So which one do y'all think I should do?

Alright, the masses have spoken!
It's not going to be done for a little while (at least another month, at most 3 months) because I have more irl responsibilities than before, but I'm working on it
thanks everyone! :)

just thinking about my sister's cat and how affectionate he is, how when she first got him from her now-ex, he wouldn't let anyone within 10 feet of him and it'd be a miracle if you saw him that week
now, several years later, if you're sitting for more than a minute at a time, he'll come up and snuggle, leaning into you as much as possible, start purring even before you start petting him, and within half an hour of someone new in the house he'll come up to them for a sniff

So that Tom Cardy... yeah!
I figured this is the one song that Danny and Jazz love equally
as for me, i may as well have it on repeat lol

Censoring in Fanfiction
Specifically using “***” or “@#$!” or something similar, in place of a whole curse word, not using special characters to make a word still look like the word in order to bypass censors.Â
First: I think that if you’re going to censor cursing in your writing, you should Just Not Curse. It’s very easy to Just Not Curse. No one is going to question the lack of a curse unless it’s specifically addressed, and I cannot stress this enough, even if the character you are writing canonically curses. NO ONE will question it.Â
But you know what they will question? A sudden “****” right in the middle of your text. It draws the eye and breaks immersion. It’s extremely jarring. And I don’t know about any of y’all, but I don’t like being jarred out of my read-state.Â
Second: There are other words or phrases you can use if you still don’t want to curse. Example, instead of saying “What the fuck just happened?!” you could say:Â
What the hell just happened?! What the heck just happened?! What in the world just happened?! What in the ever-loving Christ just happened?! What. Just. Happened?!Â
Depending on the level of cursing you’re okay with, any of these would be fine, and no one would be the wiser.Â
Third: Okay using “@#$!” is fine but only if you’re going for comedy.Â
Fourth: There is nothing wrong with cursing unless you’re aiming for a lower maturity level warning. There is nothing morally wrong with cursing. You can write it even if you don’t say it in real life.Â
Take me for example. I’m fine with cursing in my fics. I don’t do it much, but when I do, I do. But I still don’t curse in real life. I just don’t like how the words feel on my tongue.Â
I’m just saying if you’ve already got mature content in your fic, like for example torture, and you still feel like you have to censor cursing for your own sake (even if you could just not curse at all), then I think you need to reevaluate your priorities.Â
