If you are looking for something fun to do this weekend, then look no further! Columbus will be hosting their annual Food Truck Festival on August 18th and 19th from 11 am to 11 pm. This year the festival will be held at a new location, Bicentennial Park and The Scioto Mile. For a full list of this year’s participants check out the Food Truck Festival’s Webpage (http://columbusfoodtruckfest.com/).
Entry into the festive is FREE, and there will be food and beer for purchase. The festival will also provide local tunes for your enjoyment! If this doesn’t sound like the perfect way to spend a weekend, then I don’t know what does!
Which food truck(s) will you be lining up for?
Last year I got greedy and didn’t want to share my picks, but two food trucks in coupled with a large beer and some extremely hot August temperatures had me stuffed to the gills. My game plan this year… Order, share, and sample small bites from multiple stops. Because let’s face it, I want to try them all!
Hopefully, I’ll see you all there. Don’t forget to follow my picks over @pandulce1918 on insta, and tag all your good eats @colsfoodtruckfest

Eat. Drink. Be Married.
Eat. Drink. Be Married.
I am incredibly blessed to have celebrated my nuptials in Dublin, Ireland, and even luckier to have married my best friend. I cannot wait to share my adventures here on Pan Dulce 1918! After all, I dined at Ireland’s only two-michelin starred restaurant after saying, ” I do,” which is something my foodie friends are not going to want to miss! So, expect some pretty dreamy posts in the near future…

My hubby surprised me with a weekend getaway to Chicago for Restaurant Week at the end of January. To say I was thrilled is an understatement! I had been “subtly” mentioning, for months, that I wanted to visit the windy city. Restaurant week was the perfect excuse to finally make the trek north, and so we did.
I had been “subtly” mentioning, for months, that I wanted to visit the windy city.
I’m obviously going to share all of the juicy and delectable details on Pan Dulce, but first I wanted to give a quick run down of our trip, in fast forward.
There were sky scrapers…
Trips to the famous Eataly …
And, friends. And, f*cking hilarious comedy …
My girl Tien Tran was genius in Fantastic Super Great Numbero Uno at The Second City…
Hotel workouts (read: 100 squats, 100 lunges, 100 push ups and a 1 minute plank) …
Sightseeing like a true tourist …
Relaxing in historic hotels (Hey, Intercontinental Magnificent Mile!)
Drinks on drinks on drinks at bars on bars on bars …
So, there you go. My entire weekend trip to Chitown in under 2 minutes. Now, let’s get real and talk about restaurant week.
Raise your hand if you’ve ever been disappointed by a restaurant week? Can I raise my hands and feet? Twice? For real though. Restaurant weeks are a chance for chefs’ to entice, but so often they just put out junk. I’ll never understand that. On one hand, I get that your typical diner changes quickly and that you’re pushing food out faster than normal for less revenue. BUT, come on!! Have integrity and respect, and assume that at least 50% of the diners will come back during full price menus if you impress.
Here’s the truth… I was weary of what our experience would be like in Chicago. There was the fear that this restaurant week would miss the mark like so many before. I even felt this way knowing that Chicago was a major city with fabulous chefs and kickass restaurants. Luckily, my fears were for nothing because Chicago killed it.
In one weekend, I managed to indulge at all of the following:
NAHA
BOKA
GT Fish & Oyster
EL Che Bar
BOHO Bohemian House
And, I cannot freaking wait to share my experiences with you guys!

Jitter bug is how I would describe myself during days 26 to 30. Out of no where, during these last few days, I experienced a true aversion to coffee. I kept finding myself, post-morning coffee, shaking in my boots. On one hand, I love coffee. On the other, if I’ve had too much, I can’t deal at all. Can anyone else relate? It is all about finding that middle ground, but this can be tough with…

On Days 22 through 24, my whole 30 daily newsletter as well as my onCampus Today (OSU’s daily newsletter) were chock-full of good information about working out. For what felt like hours, I read & read & read…. -Adults should aim for 150 minutes of aerobic activity per week. -You better be getting at least 2 days of strength training. And, it better be targeting ALL major muscle groups. -Oh, you…

Days 19 through 21 marked my first Whole30 Holiday Weekend! Read: temptation, temptation, temptation. Jeff and I had friends coming to town, so I knew I needed to think long and hard about how I wanted my weekend to turn out before it began. Otherwise, I’d find myself two beers and a dozen of donuts deep before realizing I had ruined my challenge. After coming so far, I couldn’t fathom the idea! But, damn, some beers & donuts sound good! You know you agree!
I’m happy to report that when the whole weekend was said and done my only real negative /regret was that I over ate at a few meals and was left feeling filled to the gills. At least I was filled with yummy whole30 approved eats, right?
This weekend was EXCELLENT for navigating restaurant menus and practicing ordering with confidence. Who cares if I want to nix the cheese, add protein, throw out the dressing and drizzle my salad with olive oil instead? I’m paying for the food aren’t I!?!?! So000ooo hold the cheese, please! Anyway, I ate out alot but tried to stay focused. This wasn’t always easy and it certainly wasn’t always fun, but I did it. I guess thats all that matters. Oh, and, did I mention that I had to survive this weekend while meeting the needs of a vegan, as well!?!?! Do you know how hard it is when a vegan and a paleo get together? It’s like IMPOSSIBLE to find a place to eat. Well kinda! I mean we did eat out a ton that weekend and made it work, but still.
For my paleo friends …. Here is what I ate around town on Labor Day Weekend:
Alchemy (http://alchemyjuicecafe.com)
-Blueberry Almond Butter Bowl (I subbed the granola-even though their granola is GF- for a crumbled matcha ball. If the matcha ball isn’t GF, then don’t tell me! Its too late now.) I also loaded up on Rx Bars for the week. IF you haven’t tried these its a must. I am so obsessed.
Bareburger (http://bareburger.com)
-Fire Quacker Burger- No Bun, No Cheese, No Mayo. *WARNING: Poor Service & Tiny Burgers.
Copious (http://www.copiouscolumbus.com)
-Strawberry Salad (No cheese or dressing. I got a side of olive oil) – 8 0z Flat Iron Steak with a double order of asparagus (No Mash, please & thank you! I took half of this meal home for lunch the next day. Go me!).
Hills Market Downtown (http://www.columbusfoodmarket.com)
-1/2 cup roasted sweet potatoes, 1 grilled chicken breast, & 1 cup tomato, cucumber, & red onion salad + La Croix (Apple – Cranberry)
So there you have it! A whole30, paleo friendly, dining out weekend experience.
Here’s the VEGAN & ME twinning it up ….
p.s. I went to STRONGWATER (http://strongwatercolumbus.com) for the first time e.v.e.r.. Bonus: Since I live downtown now, I was able to walk to and from the restaurant! I didn’t take any photos that night, because the space was dimly lit & I was trying to enjoy the moment. HOWEVER, I LOVED THIS SPOT. You guys….why did I wait so long to go check this place out? Sooooo cool. Plus, their menu spells out GF as well as vegetarian/vegan options. Perfection. That night I ordered the Grilled Beef & I asked for the roasted garlic basic compound butter on the side. I didn’t end up eating the butter, but it looked yummy.
p.s.s. You are probably wondering what I drank all weekend since adult beverages were not an option on the table. I went with a simple club soda, lime, & mint option! Totally refreshing & completely yummy.

Have you noticed how random my selection and collection of time has become? Days 11-18? Beats me. Just go with it. I am.
Starting to hit my stride…. I’m really feeling this, guys! I have consistent energy, my skin is improving, I feel way less bloated, I love being in the kitchen and I’m feeling so much more confident. Is this whole30 thing working? Say its so!
Let’s jump into it, because days 11 though 18 are packed with great adventures and eats. For starters, chicken ZOODLE soup is blowing my mind. Jeff got sick and in an attempt to make him feel better, while still sticking to my challenge, I whipped up a pot of this http://damndelicious.net/2016/01/13/chicken-zoodle-soup/ It is heavenly and my new go to soup on those sick, can’t get out of bed kinda days, or one of those bitterly cold Ohio, winter nights.
Is this whole30 thing working? Say its so!
I was feeling SUPER lazy on day 11 and had no interest in cooking. It was a Friday, so can you really blame me? I got creative real quick to avoid slaving over the kitchen stove for hours. I called up Condado’s (linked here http://www.condadotacos.com) and ordered two “Build your Own” tacos. I also threw some sweet potatoes in the oven to use as chips for my traditional guacamole and salsa, because it was the least I could do. Once I had the tacos in hand, I chucked the shells and got a little creative with my meal. See below:
By the way, my taco order included:
Taco 1- Corn Hard Shell (to be thrown out), Shrimp Ceviche, Jicama + Cabbage Slaw, Corn salsa with tomato, pepper, and onion (oooops!! I realized days later that I wasn’t supposed to eat corn. I’m human! Mistakes will be made.)
Taco 2- Corn Hard Shell (Again, throw this out! Do itttt!), Roasted Pollo, Lettuce, Tomato, Cilantro + Onions, Salsa verde.
11-18 were the days I tackled the HEART walk and realized I was wayyyy over doing it with sunflower butter. This is the perfect time for me to make a plug for sunflower butter—it will change your life. Like literally! Sunflower butter is a true gift from God. I count my blessings every time I dip my spoon into that jar. Not to get off topic, but sunflower butter drizzled over a crisp apple is the dreamiest treat in the universe. Back to the point, I need to hide this stuff from myself, because a jar disappears in a matter of days. But, buy it! Now! Go! You won’t regret it.Oh right… I was talking about the Heart Walk …
These days can also be recorded as the days I went mad, forgetting to record what I was doing, eating, and how I was feeling. Days 14-15, specifically, are lost on me. No clue! I vaguely remembered and recorded (after the fact) that I ate: Breakfast meatballs, Lemon & Rosemary Chicken, Leftover Beef Stew and Roasted Veggies. Below is the only photo I took during this time and the shot is well…. ehhh at best!
I rounded out this time by going to the theater to see Wicked. Let me just be real with you for a minute… the theater is AMAZING. Wicked was incredible. BUT, my theater experience just wasn’t complete without my double pour of red wine. I’m sorry! I said it! Somehow my love for the theater is tied up in my double pours of cheap Cabernet Sauvignon … not hot brewed coffees. I promise in my post whole30 life to display control when I order my wine at the theater, but I will order wine. No more of this black coffee at the theater. No.
While I’m thinking of it (I have a lot going on in my head right now)…. Here is a list of things I want to do with all of my new energy: 1.Start working out more consistently and harder, 2. Continue reading before bed, 3. Wander my new neighborhood and explore, 4. Keep up with the chores around my house, 5. Blog
And, when it comes to #1 above, I specifically want to use 10 pound weights when doing arm workouts. I usually play it safe with 5-8 pound weights (as seen below). I want to run a 5k under 30 minutes. And, I want to attend at least two strenuous workout classes at The Fitness Loft per week. Hello BODY PUMP, CYCLING, YOGA and MORE.
That’s all for your wine-o loving, theater going blogger. Until next time!

Has anyone else noticed that downtown Columbus, Ohio is booming? I mean B-O-O-M-I-N-G!!! There literally isn’t a corner in this city that isn’t being developed. Everywhere I look, I see something else going up- new restaurants, gyms, apartment buildings, bars!! The list is endless. This is absolutely something I LOVE. Not only am I excited because I recently moved to downtown, but also, I’ve fallen for this city and want to see it thrive.
One street in particular that is growing exponentially is 4th street, right through the heart of downtown. At the bottom end, closer to the German Village, you have some real gems including Little Palace, Dirty Franks, El Camino, Red Velvet Cafe, 16 Bit and Hadley’s. Several blocks north, you have the new (and amazing) Pins Mechanical Bar, Elevator brewing and Wolf’s Ridge Brewing.
A few weekends ago, Jeff and I literally made a weekend out of hanging out on 4th street. On Friday night, we met up with our German friends on 4th to check out Pins for the first time. Let me just say that this place blew me away. Every room I walked into, I caught myself saying, “WOW! This is awesome!” And, it really was. Pins boasts multiple bars, food trucks, duck bowling, a fire pit, an arcade and a lounge. Needless to say, it has something for everyone. It was also packed by the end of the night. AKA, if you don’t trust my judgment, then at least you can rely on the crowds. Unfortunately, we didn’t realize how long the wait would be for duck bowling. We made the mistake of eating first. If we had anticipated the wait, we would have put our names on the list upon arriving. By the time we were ready to play, the wait was 3 hours, which meant we wouldn’t be bowling until nearly 1 am. In the end, we didn’t end up bowling because we are old and couldn’t cut it. So, when you go to Pins, put your name on the list for duck pin bowling F.I.R.S.T., and then go grab a bite while you wait!
“WOW! This is awesome!”
On Saturday, Jeff and I went over to Wolf’s Ridge Brewing Company for beer flights, a late lunch, and board games. Wolf’s Ridge Brewing company is literally one of the only places I can order a flight of beer and like everything in the sample. Not only is their beer on point, but their food is freaking delicious. When you have a chef and team thinking of every detail, down to the “curried onions” on your burger, you know you’ve stepped into foodie heaven. I’ve never had a bad meal out of this place, and I’ve dined there a lot. It’s all perfection! Beyond the incredible beer and food, Wolf’s Ridge offers a welcoming and cozy atmosphere. Jeff and I watched the sun set, the lights dim, the wait staff light candles and the evening calm take over the tap room space, as we enjoyably played connect four and scrabble. I WON. In case you were wondering. To see photos from my time at Wolf’s Ridge Brewing Company, visit my instagram page pandulce1918
We had a blast and can’t say enough good things. So, just go! Will you?
That same evening, as our beers started to dwindle and our bellies started to rumble once again, we found ourselves craving another meal. So, we came up with the idea of walking back down forth to try out the new Hadley’s Kitchen and Bar. We watched the OSU game (GO BUCKS!), grabbed a quick bite to eat, and enjoyed a couple beers. Jeff loved his burger while I thought my meal (Pork Belly Cuban with a side salad) was just okay. I honestly really want to give this place a second chance, but on a Monday when they host Whole Living Lauren for Vegan Monday night. I love Lauren’s blog and I think it is so cool to see local bloggers getting such amazing opportunities in this community. Needless to say, I’ll be back Hadley’s, and I know Vegan Mondays won’t disappoint.
The weekend before all of this my sister and her husband were in town. We showed off 4th street that weekend too, eating at Little Palace. Because, let’s face it, their happy hour is freaking amazing! An absolute steal. Can’t miss it! And, they are located right next to 16 Bit, which is so much fun. Pac Man, Mortal Combat ??? Yes, please.
(P.S. Order the “Loco Moco” at little palace. And, sub lettuce for the rice if you want a slightly healthier version)
Within just a few blocks, you can come up with an entire weekend’s plan. All the while, supporting development downtown. So if you’re a Cbus addict & you want to see this place grow, then jump on the bandwagon by heading downtown! Once you are done exploring 4th street let me know, and then I’ll tell you about even more downtown gems!
Downtown Columbus, Ohio Has anyone else noticed that downtown Columbus, Ohio is booming? I mean B-O-O-M-I-N-G!!! There literally isn't a corner in this city that isn't being developed.
Let me tell you about the time I chose the WORST breakfast recipe in the whole entire world. Okay, maybe that’s dramatic. But, when you pick a recipe that you intend to eat everyday for breakfast, its kind of a huge “F” you when it is disgusting. Be advised …do NOT try pinterest’s recipe for “sweet plantain apple bacon hash” (http://www.paleorunningmomma.com/paleo-plantain-apple-bacon-hash/). I promise you, it’s horrible. The sweetness of this dish killed me, and I am saying that as a sugar addict (soon to be veggie addict). I ended up just eating hard boiled eggs for breakfast the entire week, while my tupperware filled with the hash sat….. and sat….and sat. Until, I threw it in the trash two weeks later! Why I allowed it to torture me for that extra week in my refrigerator is beyond me. I guess I’m just lazy!
On a positive note, days 7-10 challenged me in a lot of fantastic ways! For starters, I got my act together and attempted a healthier bedtime routine. I know this is a food blog, but bare with my for a minute because, as I am learning, wellness entails more than food (even though that’s your and my FAV part). Instead of scrolling through my phone until I prematurely fell asleep on the couch, I washed my face, made a warm cup of tea (is it fall yet? YES. YES. YES.), and read in bed. Do you know how much fun reading, a book, is? I totally forgot. I swear I rarely pick up a good book these days, because I’m all pinterest this, instagram that, time hop what? And, my books just sit. What a shame. This night ignited a fire in me for reading. Just like that I had a fun hobby back in my life (which inspired my previous post found here). Before I knew it, my warm cup of tea and delightful read had snuggled me into bed and I was ready for a deep, hard sleep. Dream world, here I come!
IT HAPPENED. I finally had a whole30, food wrecking dream like everyone said I would. In my dream, I was eating, no devouring a piece of chocolate cake that was the size of a loaf of bread. Don’t ask! I have no idea why my cake was shaped like that. It was a dream people! And, the frosting. Oh God!!! The FROSTING. Thick, creamy, dripping frosting. Take me now! I swear I woke up drooling. No, seriously. Pavlov’s dog kind of drooling.
Ironically, on this very day, the program encouraged me to anticipate and overcome cravings by creating a list of things I could do, you know, other than ravenously inhale the chocolate cake. Here’s what I came up with:
-Drink a cup of tea or a glass of water (BORING!)
-Call a friend (looking back on this I giggle, because I hate the phone… Maybe I’ll change this to “text” a friend. Its more realistic.)
-Paint my nails (My girl Hilary would approve!)
-Take a bubble bath (but really, what is a bubble bath without some bubbly or a fine glass of wine?!?! So, maybe not. I won’t do it unless I can drink! I kid I kid. This isn’t a half bad idea)
-Take Ollie (my crazy little- and by little I mean, 50 pounds of pure muscle-“puppy”) for a walk, as if he knows the definition of a walk. The dog flies and pulls me along behind him for pleasure.
-Work on my blog (okay, now that’s a good idea), or tackle my wedding planning (YES!)
What else could I do? I’m all ears.
Moving on …. During these days, I also thought about how important health is and how important it is to get it right! I realized this really wasn’t about a number on a scale, but about me, the whole me. I needed great nutrition, but I also needed sleep, recovery, frequent exercise and balance. Wow, I have a lot to figure out in the last 20 days! Rather than becoming overwhelmed by all of the areas I identified that could use some improvement, I just did what the program told me and visualized who I wanted to be. I literally filled three pages imagining a me that slept through the night. A me that didn’t eat grains, sugar, legumes or processed foods. A me who felt confident. A me who had silky smooth skin. A me who had control over food rather than the other way around. A me who liked myself when I looked in the mirror. A me who felt sexy for my man. A me who fit into my clothes. A me who was the BEST me. With that, I kept going ….
Before I sign off….
You deserve some damn good eat suggestions. This is a F.O.O.D. blog after all….. And, eating is my favorite hobby…. Here are your “yummy in my tummy” recipe suggestions ….

Whole30 Challenge| Days 7-10 Let me tell you about the time I chose the WORST breakfast recipe in the whole entire world.
Whats up weekend? Days 4 through 6 marked my very first weekend during the Whole30 challenge and I was petrified, because temptations are so much more real Friday through Sunday. There are no routines, habits fall to the waste side, and everyone is insta-posting donuts, pancakes, croissants, lattes, etc. etc. ! How was I supposed to survive, for three days, passing on gooey-ooey pieces of french toast while opting for eggs and vegetables cooked in coconut oil?
While pondering my weekend woes, I was also experiencing a Friday that was moving at a snails pace. I literally think I saw every moment on my clock tick by. Normally, this is when I turn to an afternoon snack to pass the time and get me through those last few hours of work before weekend bliss! But, a few days into the whole30, I knew better than to even consider a snack. Because snacking, my friends, is not permitted. Okay, its not recommended unless you’re about to chew your arm off in which case grab some veggies or an Rx Bar and a tall glass of water. There is some jabber about our bodies needing time to digest and recover between meals. I guess stuff is going on in the inside that we aren’t even aware of, and it needs time to process. Fine, okay, whatever. I’ll trust the process.
I survived the weekend. In case you’re wondering! So, how did I do it? I surrounded myself with people, enjoyed the moment, built in activities that served as my “workout,” and I planned. My first weekend I even ate out twice. Once at the zoo and again at Tip Top Kitchen in downtown Columbus. My skills at navigating a menu weren’t great, and I felt awkward and uncomfortable asking for “no cheese. actually no dairy at all” on/in my omelette, but I did IT! Will this get easier? Please tell me that my heart won’t race and I won’t be completely embarrassed every time I ask for a substitute, or wish to eliminate an item from an entree?
I mentioned that I did some planning… I wrote out a meal plan and checked it twice:
Hard boiled eggs
Sweet plantain apple bacon hash
Shepherds pie with a sweet potato top
Paleo Taco Stuffed Zucchini
Its whats for dinner next week, folks….. I hope you’re enjoying this process so far, because I’m not quite there.
Whole30 Challenge | Days 4-6 Whats up weekend? Days 4 through 6 marked my very first weekend during the Whole30 challenge and I was petrified, because temptations are so much more real Friday through Sunday.
There’s nothing better than cuddling up next to a crackling fire (in my case the fake fireplace on iTunes. HELLO “Fireplace 4k:Crakling Birchwood,” haha) and reading a good book in the fall. With grey, rainy days outside, and leaves falling to their resting place, I can’t imagine a better time to get lost in an adventure. And lost I’ve been getting these days. With the kettle on the stove and my nose buried deep in a book, I’ve been nothing but happy cruising through my fall reading list.
My list, so far, includes (1) All the Light we cannot see by Anthony Doerr (2) What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty (3) The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt and (4) It was me all along by Andi Mitchell and (5) Fed & Fit by Cassy Joy Garcia.
I’ve already finished All the Light we Cannot See, and I absolutely loved the story. I was completely wrapped up in the characters and their well-being. World War II, in and of itself, is a fascinating point in history, but when you add love, relationships, and the human struggle it becomes even more encapsulating. My sister and I both read this one, comparing notes in the end, and agreed that we wanted more out of the ending. I won’t give anything away, but I am curious how you all felt about the ending that Doerr chose. Let me know! Maybe you can shed some light on the story that will allow me to feel less disappointed about how it all came to a close.
I’ve also finished What Alice Forgot and initially really loved the story. Once I got answers to some of my initial questions, I kept waiting for something new and shocking to happen per Moriarty’s typical writing style. However, I never had that shocking, I can’t believe Moriarty just did that kind of moment. Instead, by the end, I felt like the story was getting a little old. I liked the way things concluded, but overall I wasn’t in love with this read as much as I have been with other Moriarty books. With all of that being said, I still think its a pretty solid book. Just don’t expect some shocking plot twist.
The Goldfinch is exciting right out of the gates! Now, I have about 600 more pages to see how the shocking beginnings unwind and I cannot wait! This is my first Tartt read and her elegance and grace with words is pretty amazing.
I picked up It was me all Along and Fed & Fit to continue to encourage my paleo journey. Cassy Joy is an absolute doll, #girlcrush!! I’ve started digging into both of these books and I already feel motivated/inspired/encouraged/supported. Just FYI, Fed & Fit is so much more than a cookbook. I suppose it was a lack of research, but I hadn’t realized this when I picked up Fed & Fit at Barnes & Noble the other day. I was pleasantly surprised as I started to flip through the pages, and I think you will be too! If you are curious about a paleo lifestyle or you just need to reboot your paleo ways, then this is a great addition to your kitchen and healthy goals.
I really am perfectly happy to just read and be these fall days. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on my list, and what books you think I should add to my Fall Reading List. Comment below and I’ll be sure to head out to my favorite, local bookstore to pick them up!
Fall Reading Vibes There's nothing better than cuddling up next to a crackling fire (in my case the fake fireplace on iTunes.
I woke up feeling completely exhausted and B.L.O.A.T.E.D..on day 1. Damn you last super! (But don’t worry, the Whole30 promises that the inflammation happening in my body is about to be NO MORE! )
I woke up feeling completely exhausted and B.L.O.A.T.E.D..on day 1
I figured I better face the scary scale, so that I had an idea of where I was beginning. Ugh, 5 more pounds than I thought I weighed. Nice! With that news, I was not looking forward to eating within an hour of waking, as suggested by the program. I’m a slave to my scale. The last thing I wanted to do was eat after seeing THAT number. But, I did as told. After all, the point is to find control, listen, and make new habits, right?
Day 1 food:
Breakfast- Grass-fed lamb, organic mixed greens combined into a lovely egg bake with a clementine and a cup of black coffee.
Lunch- Tuna mixed with fresh veggies and served over a bed of arugula.
Dinner- Approved Whole30 Chili and a La Croix.
Eating on days 2 and 3 were the same with a couple small variations.
I certainly wasn’t feeling the magic that Whole30ers speak of! I was starting to get into the habit of reading my whole30 daily newsletter, I set some goals, created a vision, wrote down my current state, found some motivation, recorded some simple go-to recipes, thought up some rewards and identified food triggers, but NO magic. I was still feeling sleepy, snoozing remained my best friend, and I longed for alcohol and SUGAR (Oh my dear sugar, I miss you!).
The plan, the plan, the plan. Stick to it? F.i.n.e., but this better get easier.
Whole30 Challenge | Days 1-3 I woke up feeling completely exhausted and B.L.O.A.T.E.D..on day 1. Damn you last super! (But don't worry, the Whole30 promises that the inflammation happening in my body is about to be NO MORE!
You’re probably wondering is this for realz?!?!?…. A day 0? Well, bible. Day 0 is a crucial day built into the whole30 program. However, I totally missed that boat.
I should have been receiving my first whole30 daily newsletter, purging my cabinets, weighing myself, taking before photos, setting goals, creating a vision and mentally preparing. INSTEAD, I was doing what I do best …. E.A.T.I.N.G!
Last super, anyone?
There I was, on day 0, dining al fresco at the wonderful Milestone 229. Warm pretzel bread, Lake Erie pan fried walleye, banana pudding and cocktails flowing. I’m talking the works. Foodie heaven. Whole30 hell. Fast forward 24 hours later, I am confronted with the fact that I have completely and utterly failed on Day 0. Oops! The banana pudding was worth it, am I right?
