@NHLBlackhawks: "A team is something you belong to, something you feel, something you have to earn."
Are you learning russian by yourself or maybe you have skype lessons (lol)? Or maybe you have friends from Russia? Sorry if I'm annoying you, I just want to learn it and don't know where and how to start :(
I’m self taught rn! I want to take actual lessons but I haven’t found anywhere to take them yet. I’m away from my computer rn but I’ll link you to some self taught language learning stuff a bit later!!
Sites & Apps I use: (there are sooo many! I would also recommend finding someone who knows russian just to assure you know what your saying and stuff! there are a ton of ppl on tumblr who speak it, and I know a few of my followers do so they might be of some help if you can’t find anyone! or I can try and help you if you like!!)
Learn Russian Online - this site is really easy to use, it also has a ton of different phrases and stuff to help you learn to say so much! (I recommend 1 learning link a day, just to not overwhelm yourself..) this is also russian specific, no other available languages are on it
Word Reference - I’m not entirely sure on the accuracy of this site, but if you need to know a word, I recommend using this over something like google translate! (I also recommend to look up individual words rather than phrases, it makes it easier to find what you’re looking for)
Language.ws - these are like online pdfs/books. you can read like comics or poems, or even children’s books < I haven’t gotten to this yet cause i’m still at the point where i’m looking up every other word when I read a sentence (this is linked directly to russian, but their are other languages available on the site!)
Duolingo - use the online site and not the app, cause the app doesn’t offer russian… at least i don’t think it does… but this one is an okay site to use, i just wouldn’t rely on it by itself cause it teaches you some useless phrases in my opinion…
LanguageTool - if you plan on writing letters or paper, you can use this as a grammar checker… don’t solely rely on it, know your stuff, but it is nice to check!
Apps: These apps kind of offer the same thing, basic phrases and and upgrade to get more stuff, see what works for you and stick with it… (these are for the iphone cause i don’t know shit about android… sorry)
Buzzu - I recently downloaded this so I haven’t gotten to really get an understanding of what it’s about… it might have in app purchases but it’s free to download! (it gives you an option to upgrade to premium, idk how much it is though, but if you are going to be learning on the go, it may be a good investment- but i don’t know what is offered in the premium..)
SpeakEasy Russian (lite) - another app that offers useful phrases and stuff, if you are not going to buy the normal version (3.99 not bad..) I would use this for very few phrases, but consider buying this one
Privyet - same as the other two, this offers 45 additional lessons if you upgrade to premium..
I also use another app, on my phone it is called “Russian” and it literally is the russian flag with a speech bubble outline over it… however I can’t find it on the app store, but that is the one I use mainly… it tells you how to spell words in russian alphabet and english alphabet and, how to pronounce words, as well as offering pictures. it also has flashcards and quizzes and memory checklists.. and it has a bunch of categories so lots of stuff to learn… I wish I could find a link to it, but it keeps saying it is unavailable in the US…
anyway I hope these are helpful! start with learning the alphabet and numbers and then move to like say phrases you say everyday and learn words of the objects around you! It was easy for me to get the hang of it cause I’ve learned two other languages besides english so once you learn 1, it becomes easier to learn more!
also, look into the tumblr studyblr community, they always have self-taught language learning tips going around

SAFE ZONE HOCKEY TUMBLR!
So I’ve noticed lately how much hate and unkind words have been going around hockey tumblr. I know a lot of tumblr’s have though about deleting, myself included, but I want to make this post go viral and have it become a kind of go to for hockey blogs to follow one another without fearing that a hateful post will pop up on their dash.
So my blog is a safe zone, hateful posts will never pop up and I promise to do my best to included multiple hockey teams on my blog to welcome everyone in. Feel free to reblog this if you want to join me on making hockey tumblr the hockey tumblr of a year ago, when it was actually fun and felt like a community of supportive hockey fans.
