I haven't quite gotten the spoons back for using Tumblr for general bloggery once again, but I've still got art to upload, and, when the time comes, traditions to uphold. But there are no traditions for 6/6, so, it's art time! And Tumblr really didn't like uploading this one.

For every system that exists in the universe or in society, there's always someone who tries to game it. And since I plan on making a video game with these kooky characters, the in-universe justification of extra lives is no different. Most heroes only need to go back a few minutes, but by carefully avoiding checkpoints for long periods of time, Sky has given themself the gift of being able to send their mind back a few days, into the body of their younger self who last touched a checkpoint. A useful ability to have, in case, say... a city-annihilating disaster happens on your 13th birthday? Now, to find a hero who can potentially nullify this disaster...
Simply put, this kid puts the "Warning" into "Storm Warning". Also, their own extra lives and usage of checkpoints is the in-universe justification of saves and continues.
Now, where was I? Oh, right.

One day I'll return to Tumblr for reblogging mostly from the same few accounts, but until I get the spoons for that, I've got new art. Who is she? Not even she knows. But in the final game, she'll definitely look a bit different.

Ironically for a fortune teller, there are a lot of things that are not clear for her, especially things about herself. But she's sure she'll figure herself out someday, as sure as the moonrise. But until then, there are still some things she knows for certain, she is the woman with the briefcase, and she's making deals, trading goods, and looking into the mystic arts.
As for her in-game functionality, she's a death counter. She knows how many times you've tasted bitter defeat and picked yourself up again, and she even knows how many of those defeats were especially bitter and it looked like it was all over, but you continued on. She's got more functions, but the details of those I'll save for later.
Also, here are the cards she is holding. Two minimalist tarot cards, one fake Animal Crossing amiibo card that has an anthropomorphic beetle instead of the usual species.
