This one is a little weird. I'm very skeptical about how video games will improve Doctors and their procedures. I mean wouldn't turning it into a video game be bad because it "allows" them to make mistakes because it's "okay", it's only a video game. Then they make the same blunder in real life and kill someone. Yea, the majority of gamers can use this machine, but they never tested the procedure under pressure. Let me tell you, gamers will fall under pressure if not accustomed to it. The simulator is also used under mechanical boundaries and the same situation wouldn't work all the time. So assuming that the future with gamers as surgeons would scare the living day light out of me. I know so many types of gamers, some that take the easy way out and the ones that actually try to learn and win. The easy way out people would kill me. Assuming there is a chance they might change if alerted of the responsibilities I'm going to take my chances with surgeons with experience. However if the game surgery simulators were to actually mimic the surgery a little more and was accurate to a sheen I might consider allowing someone with a medical license and a good thumb to operate on me. After all a game is there to help improve on a certain skill and if improving that one part will help heal someone, it's progress. Still a very risky move as people will use this as a blame for potential bad doctors.

The Indie Game Standards
I know this is gonna sound boring, but as an aspiring game developer, I felt that this article might have opened up a few new windows for me. I've actually had this happen to me while I was creating a game with my friends. That and I know I harbor some of these faults which hold me back.
Number 1 rule which hurt me most is #2. I hate creating crap. It hurts when you create something you DON'T want to show people. Something that doesn't quite meet your standards. I need to learn to give this up so I can hurry up and create something instead of scraping everything I attempt. Especially the notion that I have to create something original. I should strive toward something original but not mind blowing original.
The other thing that's stopping me from creating something nice is the planning part. I know I'm not the best at all the elements needed to make a nice game. So I would join a team, but we're not that well planned out for a team. We need to organize our focus and goals. Also we need to see what is possible and what is not. Sometimes the idea departments goes on a rampage and starts talking about possible features when we're not even done with the core mechanics yet.
So yea this is like a reflection on what I need to improve and so forth. Place extra ramble here.

Retro Game Revisited! VERSION 2.0!
Basically this game called "Knights of Paper and Pen" is a re-imagining of what the player playing the game would role play as. I know it's kind of complicated but let the juices start flowing and you will begin to understand. The player will act as the game master and the characters that role play like in Dungeons and Dragons. So that means you can choose where you go, what you are, customize what you do and go at your own pace. This gaming logic is very similar to the old games of the 90's. Literally the player is left in the middle of no where and have to figure out what to do and where to go. This one gives you paths at least and allow you to customize the class, your visuals, your name and stats so that you can truly have control of the game. Still if we had to look at this from a larger view, this game is just conceptual game where thinking in that way will make the game look and feel different. The game master technically is the player and the 'so called players' are just characters that the game master creates. Something like Pokemon, but instead of catching them, you create them. This game would be good for players that enjoy exerting control over a game and deciding what they do with different to same outcomes. Someone that also enjoys the pixelated graphics and 8-bit music.
