Keep Learning

How can you understand the world around you without an education? Many have said, “the more you know, you more you don’t know.” It has been my experience that this is true. Does education stop with a college degree? I can say for certain, this is not the case. If all I had to depend on was what I learned in college, I would be in sad shape. For my degree, a BS in Mathematics, I had to learn things like Calculus, Differential Equations, Affine Geometry, Matrix Algebra, etc. If I had stopped my education here, I would have lived a miserable life. I soon discovered that Mathematics was not everything.

So, you see, if we stop learning when we graduate, we would not be able to enjoy some of the things we now enjoy. How many things have been discovered or invented in your lifetime? To get the most out of life, you need to keep learning. With each new thing you learn, endless opportunities suddenly appear. Something my strike your fancy and before you know it, you are off on a new career.

For me, the internet was fascinating and I wanted to learn more. The internet was not in existence when I was in college. Look at the careers the internet alone has created.  Amazon has shown us there is a different way to shop than the malls.  Google helps us find information on about anything. Facebook created a whole new form of interaction, the social media. Netflix has infiltrated millions of homes, offering us hundreds of different viewing choices. YouTube has video showing us how to do things without reading the directions. I assure you, the people working at these companies need to keep educating themselves or they would soon be out of a job.

Hopefully, you see now the importance of education. Instead of spending hours on social media, playing video games and watching Netflix, challenge yourself to continue learning. You will be pleasantly surprise at what is out there that you are missing.

Prepare For Life's Journey

Remember we discussed dreaming, imagining what you wanted out of life? Now that you have set goals, begun yearning for this new live, we need to equip ourselves for the journey. Over the years I have had the opportunity to witness the lives of many people. The most common characteristic of the happy and successful people is ambition. Ambition is defined as a strong desire to do or to achieve something, typically requiring determination and hard work.

INSIGHT Without ambition my friend, your only hope for a happy and successful life is luck.

Ambition needs a source of energy to keep going. Where do we get this energy? I have found my source in God. He teaches us that the whole purpose of our life is to please and honor Him. Wait, I thought it was about pleasing me. Once I accepted that He came first, low and behold, I became much happier in the process. When I kept Jesus first in my life, decisions were easier, the results were more satisfying.  God knows all the answers and He will help you, but only if you ask. Then wait for His answer. No, you will not get a telephone call from God, instead you will just know. The answer is sometimes silent but clear, other times you hear His voice inside your head. At other times it may be mysterious, He just puts words in your mouth. What comes out of your mouth may be an answer that you have not even considered, leaving you in awe of what just happened.

INSIGHT Living a life that is pleasing to God will keep your tank full for the journey. Quit putting off accepting God! He and only He created the world. Even the big bang theorist cannot explain why there is anything. God can. He created everything for His pleasure.

Find Your Target

It has been my observation that most people spend more time planning a hunting trip or a wedding than they do planning the rest of their life. What is the next exciting event or accomplishment going to be? As we digest that thought, let's decide now that we want a life full of excitement and thrilling moments. If we had nothing to look forward to, wouldn't that be boring? All we can think about is tomorrow, another boring day at work. Let's fix that!

Insight Dream, picture in your mind the life you want. See yourself living in that dream house, working that dream job, finding true love, traveling wherever you want. Are you excited yet? If not, dream some more. Dream until you get the feeling in your gut that you cannot live without it. Each of the things you have dreamed about. are the stops on your journey through life. Draw your map, decide where you want to go first. When you get my age, it is my sincere hope that you can look back on your life with the fewest regrets. What if I had ________? Put all these on your road map and do them now.

Reason For This Blog - YOU

Helping people has always been the pleasure I have enjoyed most in my life. It is in that spirit, I will write about my experiences in hopes that you too will have hope and inspiration.

Life is hard and we must prepare ourselves for the adventure. This is it, you are living your life now. There is no reset button, no dress rehearsal. this is IT! Get started today in getting the most you can out of it. Enjoy each sunrise and sunset, breathe the fresh air. God has given you all you need. Don't worry about others who seem to be happier or wealthier, there is enough for everyone. No one is better than you, nor are you better than anyone else. Let's get started. Here is what I have learned.

Insight All men and women are created by God, and what God makes is good. Everyone starts their life the same way. You are no more or less deserving than anyone else. All of us are human beings, we are the same! Sure, we may have different color of eyes, but does that matter? I fell in love with a woman with green eyes, but I have blue eyes. Does that really matter? So, what does matter? It is the living soul inside our bodies!
