After around 10 minutes, the door finally opened, and from inside there a tall skeletal figure walked out.

"oh? Abriel, who is this other human?"

Aby quickly stopped leaning against the wall and tried to straighten himself.

"o-oh that's uh...uuuuh" he gestured to para to introduce themselves.

"Hi! I'm Para, nice to meet you!" Para said happily, holding a hand out to shake.

Inwardly, Para was doing there best to make sure they didn't just blurt something rude out again.

"Maybe its something about getting you guys out of the Underground?" Para suggested after a moment, referring to what he could be doing down there.

"Fine, let's just check on him" He signed and sheepishly walked to the metal door before pressing a button besides it.

He then approached what seemed to be a microphone besides the button.

"Hey g? is everything alright there? You are taking a while there."

"One moment" a voice spoke through the speakers around the door. It was a deep and raspy voice.

"Uhh... does he need something for his 'throat' or is that normal?" Para asked, tilting their head. "Oh, shoot, that was probably rude... sorry." They really needed to think before they talk sometimes... hopefully neither of the two were offended by that.

By now there were only a handful of fries left, getting colder by the second. Aby tried to eat one of them but it was clear they were losing their luster. With a sign he got up and throw a half eater fry on the trash and sighed, leaning into the nearby wall.

"He's taking a while isn't he..."

Para ate the last few before they could get too cold. "Should we like... check on him?" Para asked. What if he was in some form of trouble? That wouldn't be very good...

"Sorry, I don't know how else to explain them." Para said with a shrug as they continued to eat their fries.

"So... what else about magic do you know?" They asked, leaning forwards and kicking their legs back and forth. They really liked learning of other magics, if one couldn't tell.

"Not much more than that in terms of the more overarching properties of magic and its traits, only the more scientific and technical details of some specific areas"

"To be honest i'm not that much of a fan of magical sciences and magic in general, it kinda...bores me a bit"

"How does magic even work on your world?"

"I coded all of it!" Para said happily. "You see, it's mainly based off of making little pictures related to what you want to do, then surrounding it in different shapes and stuff to set the like pattern and stuff. It took forever to code it all right." Para was bouncing in place now, excited to talk about their magics. "Monsters got their own stuff though, I made them able to just kinda do their magics. That took a long time too, but it all worked out! Though, you don't know just how many bugs were smoothed over when I got pulled into my own world..."

"Can you describe them to me so i can figure out the difference?"

"How I see Perseverance is like..." Para started, looking down and thinking for a moment. "It's like a bit of a watered down Determination. Instead of defying fate with your will, you withstand and survive it." They said, nodding to themself.

A moment later, they hummed. "Integrity... is stuff like staying true to your morals, keeping your promises. Usually manifests as gravity magics, for some reason."

He ate another fry as he thought on a good but succinct way to explain their question.

"hmm, Ice and water are patience, Fire and heat are bravery, nature and healing are kindness, lightning and karma are justice, copy and mirrors are curiosity, raw power and energy are determination, weapons and armors are wisdom and finally, gravity and time are honor"

"Do you want me to specify anything?" He said before eating another fry.

Para perked up a little. "Oh? You don't have do the usual things I see around, with traits?" They said, very interested now. "What I mean is, usually, the traits I come across are these seven, a couple you guys seem to have. There's Determination, Bravery, Patience, Kindness, and Justice, but Integrity and Perseverance seem to be where it differs." Eating another Fry, Para eagerly leaned forwards. "I'd like to hear more about Honor, Wisdom, and well... Curiosity. Geeze, with how many questions I ask, I'd probably be that one if I was from around here!" They added.

He cautiously picked a fry and tasted it, it was weirdly...nostalgic, it reminded him a lot of his father's cooking in a way.

"that's...quite good" He said befuddled.

"oh? what do you want to know about it exactly?"

Para loved learning of new magics, even if adding it to their places code was a little harder nowadays, it was neat to know the different ways magic can be expressed!

"The plants needed for it can't grow underground, so we found a substitute, it's Kin Fruit juice"

He went over to the kitchen and brought over said fruit. It was round with a holy in the middle, its exterior being a very bright green just like bell peppers.

"Though uh, the flavor isn't 1 to 1, it's a lot...sweater than normal oil. Plus it releases a honey-like smell when frying things."

"I'll make it work!" Para assured, starting to work on the Fries. They'd just need to compensate a bits. It'll end up fine. They prepared the potatoes, peeling and washing and cutting them. Now for cooking. They started to cook the fries. Instead of using the oil, they decided to use a bit of magic. Drawing a circle, they drew a fire inside with little waving lines coming above it. The magic concentrated in a bubble around the fries, cooking them like they were in a air fryer. The smell of cooking fries filled the air as Para hummed to themself.

"what...are you doing?"

"but...how...what...I need to sit down" he muttered and went to sit on the couch for a while.

"Is... magic not this flexible around here...?" Para asked, not taking too much attention from the fries so they don't burn them. "This is normal where I'm from..." Did they use too much too quick? They didn't want to overwhelm anybody...

"It's pretty early in the morning so we didn't cook lunch yet with anything more complicated like pasta. So we don't really have anything already made"

"Do you want to make something yourself or can i pick the fruits and vegetables for you?"

"I could make some pretty decent fries!" Para offered, smiling. "Do you guys have potatoes?" They questioned. "If not, then just make whatever. I should try more stuff anyway." Para said after a moment, humming in thought. Hopefully they liked whatever he had them try, if that's what happened.

"Down here is our living room, the kitchen is to the left, up the stairs is our bedrooms and behind that door is the lab" He said pointing to a big metal door with a single glass windows on its top half, no bigger than his head.

"Are you hungry? G is probably finishing something important since the lab is closed, so we gotta wait a bit" He said sitting on the nearby sofa, which was strangely one of the few colorful things in the room, having its outer layer be bright orange with little flames crocheted all around it.

"What do you guys have?" Para asked, sitting on the other end of the sofa. Para wasn't really that hungry, but a little snack certainly wouldn't hurt to have before meeting G. They wondered how this iteration of him would act, having met a couple whilst looking into the nothing between worlds and managed to help themselves pull them together before sending them to their respective universes. That program was a pain to code, but well worth it. Tangent aside, Para turned to their new friend and smiled.

"I tried once but nothing else can grow here, and i didn't really want to go to the Garden every time i had to care for them"

They soon finally reached the outpost, it seemed to be a lot bigger up close, towering over them with a door twice the size of aby.

"Finally, let's hope a blizzard doesn't start while we are in the lab and snows us in"

He signed and pulled a key ring from a pocket inside his lab coat, having to remove it from his waste to be able to access it. Once he unlocked the door he opened it and put his coat on.

"here we are, don't touch anything, G doesn't like strangers messing with his things."

The outpost seemed to made focusing on function a lot more than form. All walls were painted the same white-ish gray tone and, outside of a few photos and painting hanging on the wall, didn't really have any decorations.

"I will try but if I trip I am grabbing whatever to keep myself up." Para stated, following inside and kicking any snow on their footwear off before entering. Para looked around at all the stuff in the lap, curiosity growing in them but they restrained themself from touching anything. For now.

"It fascinates me how plants like those can live even in temperatures this low, nature truly is something else" he spoke in a soft and somewhat quiet voice.
