I feel like every time we did standardized testing in school, we all said “I’m pretty sure I bombed that, that was tough. That was awful.” and I’m sure some of us meant it but I’m pretty sure a not insignificant percentage of the student population felt fine about their performance but didn’t want anyone else to feel bad and did not want to sound like a stuck up dickhead.

excuse me i just found a game where you sort over 3,000 books in a fantasy library. no part of that sentence will let me do anything other than play it immediately, i'll let you all know how it goes.

it is exactly what it says on the tin. discerning what books are in what categories can be a little tricky sometimes, but it's way easier than that 2025 matching/sorting game, but still definitely takes a long-term effort, plus the visuals are more satisfying (low hurdle, they only needed to exist, but it's pretty also).

BUT they have a gen-ai disclaimer. apparently nothing is sourced from gen-ai, they just used it to "touch-up" (whatever that means) a few assets, but it still left me feeling icky since i didn't see it 'til i was getting ready to write this.

I've been playing it in short bursts recently since I've been missing my library job like crazy and it scratches the itch to a degree, so I'm loving the game so so much, but I didn't know about the gen-ai thing!

It does make me feel icky too and takes away so much of the joy. We really can't have nice things.
