THE DARKNESS IS COMING--
things people do after having a nightmare that isn’t crying
struggle to catch their breath
grab onto whatever’s close enough to ground themselves in reality
become nauseous / vomit
shake uncontrollably
sweat buckets
get a headache
things people do to combat having nightmares if they occur commonly
sleep near other people so they can hear the idle sounds of them completing tasks
move to a different sleeping spot than where they had the nightmare
leave tvs / radios / phones on with noise
just not sleep (if you want to go the insomnia route)
sleep during the day in bright rooms
things people with insomnia do
first, obviously, their ability to remember things and their coordination will go out the window
its likely they’ll become irritable or overly emotional
their body will start to ache, shake, and weaken
hallucinate if it’s been long enough
it becomes incredibly easy for them to get sick (and they probably will)

From personal experience
stay completely still until "danger" has passed; i.e. anxiety lessens
listen for something to ground me; e.g. a pet snoring or childhood clock ticking
shouting in fear or rage within the dream wakes me up, and then I lie there wondering if anyone heard me (one time I kept trying to yell while awake until I calmed down)

➼ "I trusted you." "I still don’t understand why you did."
➼ "Was everything a lie?" "I can’t remember what wasn’t."
➼ “I don’t want to know why you did this. I just want it to be a nightmare."
Person A: “…I don’t like this.”
Person B: “Don’t like what?”
Person A: “This place is never this quiet… Something’s wrong.”
Person B: “…I was kinda hoping you’d take a little longer to notice.”

"No. This can't be right!"
"Why am I not surprised?"
"I thought we were friends!"
"Are you for real?"
"No! No, please, not you."

"Tell me why! I hope you have a good reason."
"Why? Why did you have to do this?"
"How can you look me in the eyes and betray me?"
"What have I ever done to you to deserve this?"

"It was all just a sick game to you!"
"Why did it have to be you?"
"How dare you betray my trust like that!"
"You have hurt me like no one has ever hurt me before."
"I never thought it could be you."

How to Write Betrayal
Betrayal is a powerful plot element that is represented in countless stories. The gravity of betrayal brings a profound depth to character dynamics, plots, and themes alike, making it an indispensable tool for writers to explore emotions, conflicts, and the complexities of human nature. Positive Story Outcomes
In the wake of a betrayal, a story can manifest various positive outcomes that add depth to the plot and its characters. Relationships can be strengthened, showing their resilience. Characters may discover newfound self-reliance and learn valuable lessons about trust and forgiveness, leading to an increase in empathy and understanding, personal growth, and the reinforcement of personal values. These experiences can encourage a clearer understanding of personal boundaries, prompt self-reflection, introspection, and the development of healthier coping mechanisms. Ultimately, these positive outcomes can bring about improved communication and honesty, forming the silver lining in the cloud of betrayal.
Negative Story Outcomes
The aftershocks of betrayal can reverberate throughout your story. This might include an irreparable fracture of trust and damage to relationships. Betrayal can trigger psychological trauma, leading to an increase in suspicion and insecurity. Feelings of inadequacy or self-blame may surface, and characters can experience a heightened sense of isolation. The fear of forming new relationships or trusting others can become overwhelming. There may also be an escalation of conflict or violence and the reinforcement of negative behaviours or patterns. Damaged self-esteem or self-worth may be another repercussion, and this can encourage destructive coping mechanisms.

subtle ways to include foreshadowing
one character knowing something offhandedly that they shouldn't, isn't addressed until later
the crow rhyme
colours!! esp if like, blue is evil in your world and the mc's best friend is always noted to wear blue...betrayal?
write with the ending in mind
use patterns from tragic past events to warn of the future
keep the characters distracted! run it in the background until the grand reveal
WEATHER.
do some research into Chekhov's gun
mention something that the mc dismisses over and over
KEEP TRACK OF WHAT YOU PUT. don't leave things hanging.
unreliable characters giving information that turn out to be true

anything with meanings actually
metaphors. if one character describes another as "a real demon" and the other turns out to be the bad guy, you're kind of like...ohhh yeahhh
anyways add anything else in the tags

more cyberpunk staif because i’m hyperfixating
now including cyberpunk kaif lore
Kaif used to work for this shitty exploitative mining company ever since he was like…12 or smth so he ran away and lived in hiding for the next few years until he met a hacker and local wanted criminal named Stan.
Also they may argue a lot and sometimes beat the shit out of one another, but now they grew closer, they’ll do anything to keep each other safe.
Kinda like a “only i can call him ‘bastard’” thing.
So, you wanna wear your cool pants with your cool shoes.
Your pants have a super cool print and you wanna wear em with some bitchin boots, but the problem is, even though they fit fine, they do this with the boots:
So you’re like, okay, cool, I’ll just cuff them, but then you realize you can’t because they look like this on the inside:
So now you’re like aw man what do I do?? I want the cuff to match the pants but they won’t :(
Step 1! Fold the hem up about to here, make sure the fold is crisp and clean all the way around:
Step 2! Fold the white part up again so it’s the same width as the original hem, keeping it crispy:
Step 3! Fold that original hem down and over, and you guessed it, crispy again:
You have now created a cuff that matches the rest of your pants! Now go, wear your stompy boots with funky pants and be gay
I’ve got a weird ass AU idea where Kaif is like a mixture of a kraken, selkie and merfolk. His bottom half is kraken-like, basically just a massive octopus, and his top half is human, albeit being slightly off due to the gills, fangs, claws and natural bioluminescence he possesses. He can shift into an entirely human form if he takes off his kraken ‘skin’, and if someone steals it, he can’t shift back and he’s landlocked until he finds it again. I was considering writing a fic on this but please don’t get your hopes up gamers I am typing this post on an iPod god give me strength this screen is so fuckin small
