This piece was something I had in my mind for a LONG ass time, I think i did the first sketch in 2024 and then made this piece in 2025. That's wild. Can you tell she lives in my brain all the time

There's so much lore and symbolism that goes into this. Time for an infodump >:)

The hand covering her eyes is her aunt, Arina, who practically raised her and was her mentor whilst training to be a soldier

Arina covers Strata's eyes here because she expects blind loyalty. If she orders Strata to charge, Arina expects her to, no matter who is on the receiving end.

She requires this loyalty so much that she does not allow disobedience, resorting to painful punishment to put Strata back into her place, shown in the claws digging into her skin.

Strata's teeth are bared, but not by her own choice. Arina wants her to be dangerous, to be a weapon, and Strata has been that for so long, but her party re making her want something more.

Strata's eye is wide open underneath Arina' grip, because she's starting to see that she shouldn't be unquestionably loyal. She can't break out of her grip, but she's aware now.

Strata my beloved, you are so dear to me even if I torment you.

It's been a long damn time, almost 2 years ago when I last posted over here, and I've only just gotten back to posting on social medias again. I'm figuring it out, slowly, even if it takes some getting used to.

But why take it so serious? Idk, it seems to be my instinct to be "professional" about things, even though I don't like it. It takes all the fun out of showing what I make when I try to take it so seriously. maybe because it becomes impersonal that way, and its easier to disconnect myself from it so the numbers don't tank my motivation.

But that's not fun, it makes me feel so far away from the people who DO like my work, and I want to cherish those people so very much because they're not just numbers, they're actual people who like what i create

So. I'll figure it out! Bit by bit, with lots of experimenting and playing around. I think that's the best way to do it <3

i've been seeing how this post is resonating and wanted to write a followup when i had the right words for it but these tags by @stagrunner perfectly summarize exactly what i was going to add.

you can tell someone's motive by how they approach a problem. if someone is actually genuinely concerned about something you've done in the past and not just in it for the spectacle, they'll reach out for clarification before resorting to anything as dramatic as callouts. someone who has decided to call you out is not someone with whom you can hope to recover your image-- you were not important to them in the first place. If you were, they would have handled it privately.

sometimes people are just ideologically at odds with you and aren't going to be convinced. sometimes it's not a case of "trolling" and you're dealing with a true believer in whatever moral code you've violated. if a hundred strangers think you're a sick in the head rape apologist because you post whump art of hazbin characters or whatever, wouldn't you rather be spending your time drawing more of that fucked-up art than arguing with them about why you're not a bad person? fuck 'em! block indiscriminately! block on vibes! you don't have a Public Image to maintain and don't you forget it.

Actually had someone do this to me too. Was doing a art stream, it took me over 2 hours to do his inked commission, he got a refund cause ‘it took too long’ that he figured I wasn’t going to do it after I gave him the file.

I’ve had this happen to me with a $350 comic :/ I had already finished it, it was full color, 6 panels and had a full bg in every panel. I was lucky in that I didn’t spend him money yet, but it left me without funds. I’ve also had the above happen to me as well.

Don’t do this shit to artists. We’re people too. Drawing for you is more than a hobby. It’s a job.

Use Paypal Invoices. 

I cannot stress this enough. That shit helps A LOT when it comes down to Paypal refunds/disputes. There’s a description box that let’s you put in what the product is/how long it’ll take/yadda yadda, and then there’s another little memo box that only you and paypal can see where you can say it’s a digital commission and doesn’t require shipping (So Donald Mcfuck can’t say that they never got their commission). And there’s also a box for your Terms & Conditions where you can say, if you have any conflicts/want a refund - email me, or you can actually tell the user that this is a digital commission and they won’t be getting a hard copy of it.

ARTISTS. PLEASE USE PAYPAL INVOICES. it will SAVE you. And to: the people who do this to artists – Fuck you. It’s okay if you change your mind and want a refund. But freaking TALK to us and let us know what’s going on. Let us WORK with you.

ALSO A HUGE TIP: Invoices paid will automatically set up a shipping notice which, if not fulfilled, can land you in SERIOUS hot water with PayPal. Since a lot of artists don’t print and ship the commissions, this is a huge problem.
