Oddworld Abe's Exodus Commercial 1998

My aesthetic is old video game adverts. I’d not seen this one before.

Devastated to learn that I have, somewhere, missed a few Mudokons.

Were reaching the end of the wire. Back to ZULAG 1. The Temples weren’t too tricky (Scrabanian Temple fun), but the Paramonia Temple. Terrifying. I love the little way the Paramites bounce but also them descending from the ceiling in that final room en masse? Horrible. The worst.

Tacking on to stupid mistakes I’ve made in oddworld new n tasty. Beat a stage in the Paramonium Temple except I forgot to pull the lever to light the flint and have to go back and do the stage all over again

The amount of time it’s taking me to get past the Run Elum Run bit is sad. It was never this hard for me in the original game but I just can’t make the timing?

I’m at the Monsaic Lines now. It’s been slow going again, mostly because I’m bad at the controls. Like I know WHAT to do it’s just. Executing. I’m determined to save every Mudokon and find all the secret spots. I think I’m doing good so far!

Took me a million years and five restarts but I finally saved all the Mudokons...in the first level. We got a ways to go.

Posessed a slig to pull a lever that ended up opening a hatch I was standing on. Fell to my death. Lost my mind. Can’t even be mad at myself, that was hilarious.

Almost done with the words of my Rupture Farms hat! Just had half an R and the E. And the box around it and I can move to the Glukkon!

Oddworld Adventures was a very ambitious attempt at porting Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey, a beautifully pre-rendered game with a wonderful amount of detail in animation and background art…onto the Game boy. The end result was perhaps a predictable super stripped down experience with only one section and severe cuts to the art…until now!

By throwing caution to all limitations apart from 4 colours, 160x144 resolution and abiding an 8x8 grid, we have Oddworld Adventures remade!
