how does one draw werewolves
"…"
For a brief moment, fear mixed with concern, warring with one another at her friend’s confession. She couldn’t quite keep the pounding of her heart under control, a primal fright stirred from the sight of elongated canines in an otherwise human looking smile.
It took several moments for logic and common sense to kick in. He confessed. He confessed to being a werewolf. In a village that was well known for not being very tolerant of the creatures, given their tendency to eat people.
And suddenly his words about getting rid of people made a lot more sense, while at the same time making her stomach churn. Even if she knew someone’s role… could she really ask Daniel to do that? To eat someone who was part of the mafia?
Would he really go through with it?
“Daniel… I…" She paused, not sure what to say. "What… happened? How… How did this happen?”
Valerie's hesitation, and the look that flashed on her face, made Daniel's head duck. She was afraid of him, wasn't she? He'd hoped she would notice that he hadn't asked for her role -- that and the fact that he'd outright admitted to being a werewolf in a village he'd been avoiding just to keep that identity under wraps. Despite the fact she eventually relaxed a little bit, Daniel couldn't help but feel queasy that he'd caused fear in the girl that...well, he admittedly still had feelings for.
The grin faded off his face and he darted his gaze to the side, not looking at her even as she asked the question. He couldn't bear to observe that suspicion anymore.
"I don't know. I just -- one day I transformed. And that's how I found out."
He closed his eyes.
"I planned on staying away from the village for a little while longer..."
And this was when he made eye contact again, blue pleading.
"...b-but I heard about what was happening here, so I had to check in on you and Danny. I'm sorry for suddenly disappearing... A-and even after this I might have to leave again. But please, Valerie. I'm here to help. I promise."
Even if it meant compromising his own safety and eating things he normally would be disgusted in eating. Daniel usually had a limit, but when his friends and family were in danger? Well, he couldn't sit by and let it happen, and if extreme measures were the way to stop it, then that's how it was.
Turning away from him he shrugged, “I’m not too sure myself. I just know that a group of people are going out and killing. It was small at first but now they are a lot more… open about it.”
"A-and they haven't been stopped?" Daniel clenched his hands into fists. "... Is there anything I can do to help?"
"Unless you’ve learned how to shoot a gun since you’ve been gone… I kind of doubt that.”
It didn’t even occur to her that he wasn’t a normal person. This was Daniel, after all. The sweet kid who she had a crush on for a while who vanished into nowhere and now just game back in the middle of a mafia meltdown.
Then again… if he really was mafia… him shooting a gun wouldn’t be that far fetched.
But a moment later something finally clicked that he kept repeating. The necessity of roles. No mafia really needed to know the roles of who they killed except to do the most damage the quickest they could. But to kill someone? Not necessary.
“Why are you…” She paused, trying to think back on the general reports she had received, more or less a census of what roles the town had. The Village didn’t really have many ‘killing’ roles. But then again… was he still really a villager?
“Daniel… I don’t… want to ask this… but… do you have… f. u. r?”
Learned to shoot a gun? No, of course he hadn't. Although Daniel could stand a bullet wound or two if he'd had a feast...
Okay, no, bad thoughts. He didn't want to think about that right now.
Apparently, though, Valerie wouldn't allow him that chance to banish the thoughts, because as he watched the gears turn behind her eyes, he had a sinking feeling she'd guessed right on what he was. He wasn't being subtle about it, of course -- he'd planned on telling her anyway. But something about the way she asked it...
If anything, she sounded even more suspicious of him than she did before, and it hurt. It ached.
But he wasn't going to lie. At the question, he nodded, then chuckled nervously as if this was a normal conversation. "W-well, not at the moment. But yeah. At night."
Maybe it wasn't safe for him to admit to that. But he wanted Valerie to trust him. And trust couldn't be received if it wasn't given. He tried for a gentle grin, which, given that it was toothy, revealed his fangs that were abnormally long for a boy his age.
She sighed.
"Daniel, I… I want to trust you. But I *can’t*. There’s too much at stake. And unless you give me some pretty definitive proof that you’re not one of them…”
She fell silent a moment, then shook her head.
"Then I’m afraid I’m going to have to assume you’re lying until I know better. If it makes you feel better… I’m assuming that of everyone unless I know better.”
While what she said made sense, it still freaking hurt. But Daniel couldn't be angry. Not with logic like that.
"B-but proof was what I was trying to give you. It's why I said that you can tell me someone and their role.
"I can...get rid of people for you."
That kind of made him feel sick to say... But he'd do anything to protect those he cared about. He'd made up his mind.
" u-um… no. not yet."
"... Well, if they do, I'll find them.
"I'll find them and rip them apart."
” … i — … i don’t know. i’m trying to be. “
"Did they target you? Tell me. Please."
” … d-daniel ?? you’re back ???? “
"Yeah, yeah, I'm back, but you didn't answer my question, Bro! Are. You. Okay!?"
"Shh!"
She took a quick look around.
"If you have something to say, don’t say it too loudly. There are ears everywhere.”
She looked at Daniel again, a hard look in her eyes she’d never given him before.
“I”m sorry to do this to you, Daniel… but I’m going to be blunt. I can’t trust you. Not yet. Not with you being gone so long, and coming back now. So anything you tell me is going to be taken with a whole heap of salt. Because the Mafia have lied before. And they’ll do it again.”
The sudden 'shh!' startled Daniel into silence, but the look that Valerie gave him only worsened Daniel's nervousness as opposed to helping him feel any better. He could tell; she was suspicious. His stomach felt like it was flipping.
... He'd never killed a single person in his life. That's what the isolation was for in the first place.
"B-but I wouldn't lie to you..."
The look in Daniel's face was nothing short of sad.
"I-I couldn't. I couldn't lie to you."
[ You know you want to feed puppy~ so why not let yourself hmmm? I can tell you where to get some nice tasty wings~ Extra large of course ]
"…!"
Did they really already know someone’s role?
[ Though I wonder puppy~ Will you be for us or against us hmmm? ]
"…"
Well, Daniel had planned on being against them.
[ Come now Puppy~ it would feel so good to sink your teeth into their flesh~ to taste their blood ]
"…"
The worst part was talk like this did influence Daniel if only a little bit. Werewolf instincts still existed, even if he fought hard to resist them.
[ Come now puppy~ let's have some fun shall we? Let's go eat some villagers hmm~? Doesn't that sound like a good idea? ]
@halfaghxst
"Danny! Danny, I-I know it's been like, a year, but are you okay!? I heard the news!"
[ Hello there puppy~ Won't you come out and play? ]
…
(… no… I can’t. I can’t trust that you aren’t one of the bad guys. I want to, God do I want to… but you coming back now? It’s just… the timing…)
"… Well, sorry, but I can’t help you there."
(True enough. Only people she knew for sure what their role was, was Phoenix and Ghostwriter, and there was no way she was going to mention anything until she knew for certain Daniel could be trusted.)
"... You don't know?"
(... This is worse than I thought. They have no idea, do they?)
"... Valerie, I... There's something I need to tell you. There's... There's a reason I asked that."
"… And just what exactly is that supposed to mean?”
"..."
(Am I really gonna suggest this...? I don't...even like the thought of...doing it to them...
... But it's either them or people I care about, isn't it? Oh, boy...)
"I-if...you know one of them... If you know exactly what they are... You could tell me."
Daniel visibly swallowed.
