stop saying “if they wanted to they would” and holding people to standards of perfection based on how you love and show care.

Just because someone has the desire does not mean they have the capacity. Some people learn love from toxic sources so that’s the only way it comes out until they unlearn those habits. This doesn’t mean you settle or stay. But it does mean you stop taking everything personal and internalizing people’s behaviors.
