Elon Musk has recently announced new features on Twitter.
1. Emoji Reaction Options in DMs - Twitter is now testing a new search option within the reaction pop-up, enabling you to use any other emoji as a reaction. This could provide users with a broader set of emoji reactions for their DMs, while also enabling personalization of their quick reactions displayed in the app.
2. Twitter has announced that, as of February 9th, it’s cutting off free access to its API, which is the access point that many, many apps, bot accounts, and other tools use to function. This is likely to impact the way various third-party apps are used and has the potential to hurt startup businesses that rely on the Twitter API.
3. Twitter plans to charge brands for its new gold checkmark, which is its way of verifying accounts. It's a move that doesn't come as a surprise, considering the platform is owned by one of the world's richest man, Elon Musk.
4. Twitter has recently taken a proactive approach to reinstating suspended accounts with the exception of certain accounts that have engaged in illegal activity, threats of harm or violence, or large-scale platform manipulation. In order to protect the safety of its users, Twitter has implemented guidelines in order to maintain that safety and will continue to uphold them in the future.
5. First off, Twitter’s testing the ability to search through your Likes, so you can find out who, specifically, has liked your tweets. This new way to filter your replies could also be handy if you get a lot of responses to a tweet as it will make it easier to keep track of conversations.
6. Say Goodbye to CoTweets - Sad news to report, CoTweets will no longer be available starting Tuesday, 1/31. It was a great tool for creating specific content, but unfortunately it won't be available anymore. Already existing CoTweets will be viewable for one more month at which point they will revert to Retweets.
