Christmas caroling in Washington Square Park.
Because I wish I were in Europe, and not in a Starbucks working on a Sunday.
Barcelona.
30-Day Photo Challenge: Close-Up
Clearly I am not posting these within 30 days (as my challenge group actually had a facebook page where we posted), but I'm stressed out today, and I needed this one. Maybe the people of Tumblr do, too.
Tumblrs, meet Moose. He is adorable.
Even Gowanus is lovely at sunset.
(Just not the canal.)
30-Day Photo Challenge: B & W Street Photography
Not to be confused with B&W day.
30-Day Photo Challenge: Earth
Ok, technically it's sky, which is maybe the opposite of what I was supposed to photograph, but the sky looked like a big satellite map on this day. And, hey, I can translate this theme however I want, ok? GEEZ.
30-Day Photo Challenge: Architecture
When you live in NY, buildings are--obviously, I guess--some of the most compelling subjects to photograph. So when I read the instructional post on the Low-Angle photo day, and the author noted that sometimes it's good to look up to see beauty, I was sort of like, Um... That's the only place I ever look?
So anyway, my point is just that Architecture day was right in my comfort zone. Huzzah.
30-Day Challenge: Frame Within a Frame
Lower Manhattan, near the Brooklyn Bridge.
30 Day Photo Challenge: Lens Flare
Taken from the super lovely, new and improved Brooklyn Bridge Park.
30 Day Challenge: Depth
The later in the challenge, the less motivation I've had to take pictures. But back in the early days, I'd even find a photo in the rain.
30 Day Challenge: Landscape
Because when you live in the city, the park is your only landscape photo opportunity.
30 Day Photo Challenge: Sunset
30 Day Photo Challenge: Texture
These are plants of some sort.
You've just been served, BOTANY STYLE!
Day Something: Silhouette
Ok, I'm done with the day count thing. These are out of order anyway.
This is a cool, Parisian-esque (if I do say so myself) building in Soho, the place of mon emploi for the past six months. I will soon be moving my working-life to the wilds of Midtown, but I shall miss the building most of all.
Oh, and the $4 hummus sandwich at Hoomoos Asli.
Photo Challenge Day 2: Rule of Thirds
This is from the short-lived cherry blossom season in Prospect Park, Brooklyn.
Spoiler Alert: Lots of my photos in this 30-day challenge are taken in the park.
When my friend invited me to join a 30-day photo challenge, it was a no-brainer. Now that I've got an iPhone, I've become that person who takes 30 photos of, like, my (3-minute) walk to the subway in the morning. Of course I'd like to take 30 photos over 30 days!
The notion that this challenge might inspire me to take better, more thoughtful photos made it all the more fun.
And even funner? Even funnest? I'm going to post some of them here! For the enormously large viewing audience of 1-3 people. And I am two of them. Ok, I'm all three. Hi, me!
This is Day 3: Black & White
Brunch.
