2024 marks the 10th anniversary of the Common Principles.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Common Principles milestone, the IPU is planning special events at the 149th IPU Assembly in October 2024. Parliaments and organizations around the world are invited to join the commemoration.
Show your dedication to parliamentary development by hosting an event leading up to the anniversary or marking it online. This toolkit provides a wealth of resources to help you celebrate, including materials to promote the Common Principles and parliamentary development more broadly.
Effective parliaments are essential for stronger democracies.
First developed in 2014, the IPU Common Principles to Support Parliaments have received 180 endorsements from 149 national parliaments, 10 parliamentary assemblies, and 21 partner organizations. This year marks the 10th Anniversary, to be celebrated during the IPU149 Assembly in October in Geneva.

Russian Federation: Towards more peaceful and mutually beneficial relations among nations.
On the occasion of the International Day of Parliamentarism 2024, the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation shared its compliments to the IPU and encouraged the strengthening of parliamentary dialogue as a way to work towards more peaceful and mutually beneficial relations among nations.

To mark the International Day of Parliamentarism, the Parliament of Nepal is planning a celebration on June 30 to enhance, educate and inform parliamentary democracy, and express Nepal's solidarity with initiatives of the IPU at the global level, including the Parliaments4thePlanet campaign.
