Did a magma session with some friends. Made a new pfp. :D

This is making me rethink trying to go for a more painterly style. Maybe I will keep working on it but I really like doing artwork and lineart like this. If anyone has any thoughts or criticism about that I'd love to hear it.

We have Dottore's soul.

I think the Anamalous Tree Marrow is Dottore's soul. We know Dottore split his soul before death, and that these droplets of lore are connected to him. It is all woven together.

It is obvious from this most recent Archon Quest that Dottore split his soul in two prior to his apotheosis and subsequent death in Nod Krai.

This half was stored with Northland Bank and was later injected into the Ley Lines during Chapter 6, Act X.

"For instance, why would a banker act as the executor of a will? If you hadn't deposited your personal belongings at Northland Bank, I would have no reason to be here right now." "Dottore, I've placed your final data backup into the Ley Lines as per our contract. I trust we are now square for the safe deposit fees you paid."

Thanks to the marrow, we can also infer that his soul was stored in a digitized medium.

Phase Two of the soul experiment is concluded, with losses staying below projections. Evidently, the channel of transfer is more critical than the total volume. Digitization... That's a splendid idea.

I'd like to draw your attention to the word used to describe the marrow- anomalous. It is noted as emitting a "baleful light," as seen in the red design on its surface. That red is evidence of Dottore's influence.

Suspected to be a resinous concretion exuded from Irminsul's incinerated trunk. Its form is peculiar, and where it remains exposed, a baleful light emanates from within.

Archive, Materials / Trophies, Counterfeit Resin

A resin recovered from the shattered depths of the Ley Lines after the defeat of the heretic hidden within Irminsul. Once a crystal meant to bear the many beautiful memories that make up this world, it is now filled instead with delusions and malice that do not belong here.

I find it pertinent that Tree Marrow is treated as an anomaly as opposed to Counterfit Resin. The prior is referred to as "resinous," while the latter is simply called resin. Although the counterfeit resin appears to be tinted red, and is too filled with "delusions and malice" (malice ≈ baleful), there is nothing that notes it as a surprising discovery. It simply states that it does not belong.

I believe the Tree Marrow exhibits strange qualities because it is not native to Irminsul in the same way the Counterfit Resin is. The Tree Marrow is the portion of Dottore's soul, or "data backup," that Regrator injected into their ley lines.

It then dawns on you: this flood of information comes from Irminsul, taking the form of digitized memories. However, you feel neither irritation nor excitement. The data simply flows through your mind like water, and you observe it all with total calm and equanimity.

The memories of the Anomalous Tree Marrow are specifically described as being digitized, meaning that they were converted from another form into a digital one.

Digitization... That's a splendid idea. ... I perceive a truly magnificent scene: one half of my soul enters the Ley Lines through death, while the remaining half is injected as pure data. My two halves would then navigate those pathways to converge with the information of the past. It would be possible for me, in this manner, to achieve the preservation of my memories.

"But only half was digitized!" I hear you cry. Well...

"In the event that my soul was depleted, say we extracted my data from someone else's memories - yours, for instance - and then combined it with your intact soul as the base material... What would we create?" "Such a scenario would be impossible." "Oh?" "As long as your current soul survives, there will be no need to create a new individual. Don't forget, you were the one who approved of the present, situation wherein only one Dottore remains."

Here, Dottore discusses extracting his data from Regrator's memories, which I assume would take the form of digitizing those memories, and combining them with Regrator's soul to create a new individual. This does imply that an individual's memories do not constitute the entire soul. With that in mind, it is quite interesting that the Tree Marrow on the third page is the one specified as being "digitized memories". If that one marrow represents the digitized memories later injected into the Ley Lines, then what are the other two marrows?

Well, one would be the part of his soul that entered the Ley Lines upon his death in Nod Krai.

We've accounted for two of the Tree Marrows, but there's a third remaining. This is where I think "marrow" comes into play. Most are familiar with bone marrow, but in this scenario, I believe it means the strength and vitality of a being, or their core. The Tree Marrow is not hardened sap wept from a dying tree like the Counterfit Resin; it is Dottore's Marrow. The one who was the core of Irminsul in its final moments.

Speaking of Dottore... aren't we forgetting a significant part of him?

There were segments in the Ley Lines, separate from the soul fragment released in Nod Krai, and the digitized data backup injected by Regrator. When a segment passes, the fragment of soul they hold is passed into the Ley Lines. If this is the natural way of things, or if they are simply returning to Zandik, I am not sure.

Though, isn't it interesting that one of the Tree Marrows consists entirely of conversations held between the segments?

I apologize, as I can not recall where I initially saw this, but I saw someone draw attention to the use of the word "crucible" in the title of this cutscene. They pointed out that crucibles have been used to create alloys out of multiple metals and speculated that this scene is Dottore being melded back into one being. I find this to be an incredibly compelling theory, and very plausible.

However, I believe this could also be a case of calcination. This is where metals are placed in a crucible and heated to a point that rids them of impurities, but not hot enough for them to melt.

"The first flame... The pure, cleansing fire."

The parts of Dottore's soul were cleansed, reduced to the marrow we later find, and converge into one when placed together.

Regrator stated that "As long as your current soul survives, there will be no need to create a new individual."

The soul has survived. The only question is what is to become of it?

I love this! Also, do we not also often use 4 star items eventually during a later part of a quest while 5 star items usually are souvenirs that permanently stay????? This whole theory makes my brain happy. :D

Unless your tablet or monitor has some kind of fancy "paper white" lighting option (is that even a thing?) I need you to STOP DRAWING ON A WHITE CANVAS. You are essentially STARING AT A LAMP FOR HOURS.

Save your eyes and use a middle grey canvas instead! My default is hex #8A909B, but you can find what works for you!

I am being so serious right now please stop drawing on a white canvas oh my god you're damaging your eyes no wonder so many digital artists get migraines I thought this was common knowledge but apparently not so please please please take care of your eyes you only get two of them in your whole life and I am begging you to be good to them—

I would say, in my opinion right now, Honkai Star Rail. I love the designs of the characters and the worlds. I do love Genshin Impact's style and colors but some of the characters are not my favorite. As for HSR, even the characters I don't like have a pretty good design. Hope it continues to be that way in the future.
