Studio One Comm Core Reflection
Coming up with clever & effective concepts when creating/developing a brand, for me, is always a massive challenge. So when we got our brief that required us to just that, I was stoked to get the chance to break the task open and gain some insight into communicating brand personality through a ‘food festival’.
Idea generation for me has always been hit or miss, getting stuck on one boring idea without the ability to develop multiple. So the main retained skill I can take away from this semesters class is all the creative idea generation/brainstorming techniques that Chris introduced us too. Breaking down brand personality, and going into case studies on ‘brand idea’ was super eye opening. Techniques like ‘making your brand human’ is something I feel will be applied to every creative branding opportunity I get for the foreseeable future.
A plus from this semester was how well the class worked together, there was alot of banter each week, so it made for a pleasurable experience. Another positive from studio one core class was the opportunity to learn from a industry relevant and practicing designer Chris Butcher, hearing about past experiences and seeing what is available out there for us in the real world.
On the studio one essentials side of things, we developed more on our business side of the brain – which was a completely different and challenging experience to what we’ve done previously. It gave us a broad insight into what to expect in the future, and helped us develop business skills and smarts. Research skills was a big acquirement from this class.
Can’t believe this year has gone so quick, time for 1000 beers.
