thinking about the showrunners of supernatural tonight! absolutely no way to substantiate any of this with a conclusion, in any way, but many thoughts about the split in the writer’s room culture between the two sides of the narrative and meaning of the show, the fact that rumour has it the network probably would have been fine with it and the fact they were running audience surveys about it, misha not thanking singer for castiel’s confession, dabb taking over as showrunner leading to the exit of good and gay writers on the team, yockey leaving at the beginning of s14, jared and jensen and misha and mark s. arguing for character choices that they felt wasn’t right and being overruled or deceived or talked out of their opinions (jared believing lucifer raped sam and should be treated as such; mark s.’s ending being terrible and rewritten only for him to have that cut, jensen wanting a different ending and possibly giving more emotion in the confession and other destiel scenes than was allowed in the edit, jensen AND misha both arguing for bobo’s sad version of the breakup fight over miscommunication rather than angry version over mary dabb wanted), the potential for there to have been literally any other ending, the fact buckleming was rehired after kripke left because nepotism despite being terrible writers, the fact robert singer was allowed to direct after s13 finale wire fight, the multiple lines that were cut from scripts were destiel was implied, the multiple scenes and takes that were cut where it was too explicit, the writing off of castiel in the finale despite him being the third lead and inability of the writers to let dean address that loss (which made no sense, since jack could have simply brought him back). the fact of everything that happened in the last two episodes being a Choice. MANY thoughts about the showrunners of supernatural tonight!

very intriguing of the supernatural writers to create an entire show where you can watch the first episode then immediately watch the series finale and understand everything that’s happening
What would have happened to the Winchesters if s1e1 had never happened:
Sam would have had a white picket fence, a wife and kid, grew old without his brother, and never worried about hunting again.
Dean would have died young and without a partner or kids due to a hunt gone wrong
What happened to the Winchesters after 15 years of character development:

okay even if you left the finale exactly how it is.. all they had to do was have dean pass by a field while driving off in baby, and you see cas standing out there smiling
dean either doesnt notice him and keeps driving (which still at least shows us that castiel is THERE)
OR
dean stops and picks cas up. they don’t even have to fucking say anything. cas just hops in the back seat (the front seat left open for sam) and they continue driving. then you have that same ending with sam showing up, cas just watching them from the back and maybe joining for a hug at the end.

he didn’t need to “have” dean to be happy. he just needed to say he loved dean. just being in love with dean was enough to make him happy
