How do you think April's relationship differs with each of your sons?
April is a young woman of great depth and like a precious jewel, she has many facets. Each facet, I think, reflects one of my sons, and their presence tends to pull it to the fore.
With Leonardo, she shares the responsibility of the elder sibling, and while at times that puts them in complete accord, at others it causes dissonant clashes in personality as each of them tries to exert the authority of “eldest.” Leonardo shares mastery of the realm of ninjutsu, and April in the ways of moving through the human world. The sooner they acknowledge this, the sooner they will make themselves an unstoppable team. But there is a certain amount of teenage pride each must overcome before that happens.
In quieter moments, however, they are in complete accord. There are times which each feels the need to retreat from the chaos that surrounds them, and whether that escape lies in Space Heroes, meditation, or simply braiding hair, they can often be found sharing that retreat together.
April also clashes often with Raphael, but though her quarrels with him are many times louder than those she has with Leonardo, they are rarely as serious. Between the two of them, there is a certain game in trying to get the better of the other. Their teasing can be merciless at times, and they will not hesitate to resort to physical shoving, yet their loyalty to one another is as ferocious as their quarrels. Each would not hesitate to come to the defense of the other, and while Raphael feigns disinterest in much of what April does, he is often the first at her side when she has made a new discovery on her website, or when she is in need of help. He does not like to see her sad, and it distresses him that she is so often so in these trying times.
When he cannot think of anything to say to make her feel better, he will often sacrifice his pride and give her the opening she needs to take a jab at him, coping with her mood the only way he knows how.

Click Your Heels Together Three Times.... (Part 2)
He’d known that leaving would be hard. But oh, he’d had no idea how hard it would be. With each successive goodbye, the ache in his heart grew stronger and the lump in his throat more painful, until he could hardly breathe for the pain of it. He could barely see his brothers and April through the Rift now, as he fought vainly to clear the tears from his eyes.
"It’s so sad," Mikey whispered, and a dark expression settled across his face. Holding April tighter, squeezing a small squeak out of her as she battled back her own tears, Mikey turned to Donatello, who was still wrestling with the sparking circuit boards. "Donnie! Fix this! Make it not sad!”
“What?" Donnie called back. "How can I— oh. Oh, right. I’m an idiot.” He grabbed something off the smoking computer next to him and hurled it toward the Rift. Leo’s hand shot out, snatching it reflexively out of the air, and he opened his fingers to reveal a small flash drive. He looked back up at the Rift, his brow raised.
"Blueprints, schematics, and operating instructions for the Rift Generator," Donnie called. "I figured tall green and handsome over there can figure it out." As Leo passed the flash drive in stunned silence to the Rift’s Donnie, his own Donnie shifted his attention to his own twin. "I managed to eliminate the current differential, but I can’t do anything about the biofeedback loop; it’s an essential component of the creation of a stable bridge. Which means that as soon as a living thing passes through the rift, the generator will melt and take out anything that has a Rift resonance with it. It takes a solid week minimum to rebuild it, and that’s if you have all the parts and go without sleep, so be sure you only use it for serious emergencies. We need him too, and I’m saving our next generator for bringing him back!”
Raph, Mikey, and April joined Leo in staring at Donnie for a silent moment. “You mean you had that this whole time and you let them go through all that?” Raph burst out. “Donnie, I swear, if I didn’t know for a fact that Mikey and I would vaporize Leo if we tried to run this stupid thing ourselves, I would march over there right now and smack the smart outta you!”
"Well excuse me if I’ve been a little distracted!” Donnie snapped back, and let out a yelp as another machine exploded. “Leo! Now would be a really good time!”
Leo looked back one last time to the Rift family, beaming in joy and relief. “So I guess this isn’t goodbye. Just…. see you next time.”
Turning back toward the Rift, he gathered himself to leap, only to be stopped by a frantic, “WAIT!”
All eyes turned to Donnie again, who was staring at his readouts with panic written across his face. “Oh, no. Nonononono….”
"Donnie, what is it?” Leo demanded.
Donnie looked up, his eyes wide. “There’s a fluctuation in the phase differential. It was impossible to predict. It only showed up when the Rift opened.”
“English, Donnie!” Raph snapped.
"It means that when Leo passes through, the differences between our universes are going to try to correct themselves," Donnie explained. "Which means that it’s extremely probable that the Rift is either going to erase the things that are radically different from our own reality from Leo’s head, or…."
Donnie trailed off. Mikey, distress written across his features, squeezed April even tighter. ”Or what?”
"or…. it’s going to erase Leo. There’s no way to tell for sure until he passes through”
There was another moment of shocked silence before Raph exploded into righteous fury. “No! I’m not buying that! That is not okay! What about the option where he gets to be home safe with the family that loves him, and nothing gets erased? Where is that option, Donnie?”
Donnie looked at Raph, and his voice was barely audible as he whispered, “he stays there.” Donnie turned to Leo, distress written across his features. “This is too big, Leo. I can’t make this call. It’s on you…”
Leo stepped back, reeling. It was too much to take in at once. Desperate for something, anything to help ground him, he turned to his Rift family for advice.
Mikey couldn’t understand very well what Donnie meant, but whatever he meant by Leo getting erased did not sound like good news. Fear destroyed what little resolve he’d gathered to let his brother go and he snatched his brother’s hand.
He was torn, he really wanted Leo to go back to his family, but he wanted him to be safe, Alive.
This was a battle, and as always, he relied on Leo to tell him what to do. Except, it was Leo who needed someone to tell him what to do.
Mikey looked at Leo, and failed to find anything to say. All he could do was stay there, squeezing Leo’s hand for comfort and trust that he would make the right decision.

Mikey squeezed his eyes shut and nodded, remembering their adventure with Zog in the pre-historic times, the struggle with the giant Ratroach, having been turned into a toddler, going to Central Park and Lucy.
Swallowing, Mikey found his voice “Lucy’s gonna miss you…” Mikey sniffled and gave his older brother a gentle squeeze. “and I’m gonna miss you too…”
"But this is what you’ve been waiting for, and if you were my Leo, I’d want you back. Now." Mikey released his older brother, a bright smile shining for his brother. "A whole year is WAAAAY too long without a brother…"
Mikey looked down once more, “Heck, you’re not gone yet and I already miss you…”
"I’ll miss you both, too," he said, cuddling his brother close. "I’m trusting you to go keep her company for me, okay. That’s a big responsibility. You’re now the official family ghost-sitter."
On the other side of the rift, Mikey was listening intently, and nodded emphatically at Rift Mikey’s words. “You said it, other me! I’m smart! And— wait, a year? Youve been there for a year?" He looked at the others with an expression of shocked alarm. "Donnie, you said time was wonky there! You didn’t say he’d be gone a whole stinking year!”
Donnie blinked. “Yeah, that’s news to me, too.”
Ignoring the bickering that erupted behind him, Leo placed a hand on Mikey’s head. “I know exactly how you feel,” he said quietly, and gently rubbed his brother’s head. “I love you, otouto. No matter what. Okay?”
Tears brimmed Mikey's eyes but he smiled brightly, "I love you too, Nii-chan..." Mikey hugged Leonardo as tight as he could, engraving the moment in his mind, so that he'd never, ever forget the brother that had brought him so much adventure, joy and above all love.
Blinking the tears out of his eyes and taking a steadying breath, Mikey released Leo, resting an arm over his shoulders to keep him close, "You better take of him for me, other me!" It was more for good measure than an actual reminder, he knew he would take the BEST care of his Nii-chan.

Time stopped all around Michelangelo as he witnessed the contorted look of mixed joy, relief and hidden pain washed over his brother’s face. The time had come and his brother would return to where he belonged.
Mikey looked down for a second as tears pricked at his eyes.
So sudden was the explosion of emotions that holding back was clearly impossible and Mikey found himself trying desperately to wipe away the tears that now cascaded into his mask and down his cheeks.
He looked up at Leo after realizing that hiding wasn’t going to work, showing him a teary and quivering smile. He was genuinely happy for Leo and seeing how worried his family made him feel incredibly terrible that he felt even the slightest bit sad to see this brother go.
He tried to say something, anything but his throat had sealed shut. Only a tiny hiccup escaped and he launched himself against his brother’s plastron, hugging him for dear life.
If this was to be goodbye, he needed Leo to know just how much he loved him and how much he would miss him.
Leo wheezed as Mikey collided with him, driving the breath from his lungs, and his arms wrapped tightly around his baby brother, tears stinging his eyes. “It’s okay,” he whispered around the lump in his throat, his hand gently stroking his brother’s shell. “I understand. Who knew that happy-sad was an emotion you could feel, right?”
He let out a shaking laugh, resting his head against his brothers. “But we had some good times, didn’t we?”
Mikey squeezed his eyes shut and nodded, remembering their adventure with Zog in the pre-historic times, the struggle with the giant Ratroach, having been turned into a toddler, going to Central Park and Lucy.

It had been a long time — too long — since they had given themselves time to just play. Not since Coney Island, really. But as Leo stretched out, caught up in the slipstream of energy as he leaped the rooftops, his family spread out around him, he couldn’t stop smiling. They had needed this. All of them, together, just indulging in the sheer joy that was running as they chased each other over the rooftops of the city.
Which was why he was unprepared for the sudden, excruciating flash of pain that tore through his mind. He heard himself cry out as he went to his knees, his hands pressed to his temples. Heard the anxious shouts of the others as they abandoned the game and gathered around him. But they were distant, muffled, Leo’s entire attention caught by the exponential expansion going on inside his mind. And suddenly everything became clear. Everything. The whole of the multiverse spread out before him, and it all made sense with a sudden, perfect, aching clarity.
And suddenly, too, he understood why. He looked up in time to see the glowing crack tear across the very fabric of reality before him, and as it twisted and expanded, four anxious, familiar, beloved faces stared back across the rift.
“Leo!" Raph’s cry was wild, bordering on hysterical, as he looked back over his shoulder. "Donnie, you did it! You found him!"
"Guys?" Leo whispered, scarcely able to believe what he was seeing. As Raph stood, fists clenched like he was ready to punch the rift into submission, Mikey grabbed on tightly to April, whose hands were pressed against her mouth, her wide eyes filled with unshed tears. Behind them, Donnie turned and wrestled with the controls of the vast array of mechanical parts and circuit boards that had been wired together until they dominated his lab.
"It’s good… it’s stable!" Donnie looked up, his gaze locking with Leo’s. "It’s now or never. Come on, Leo. Time to come home!"
"Home…" he breathed, and the word filled his heart so full he thought it would burst from the ache of it. But on the heels of it came another thought, and he jerked upright with a gasp, turning to look at the rift family gathered around him. The family who had cared for him, and tended him, and loved him in his long year of absence, and suddenly the thought of such sudden separation brought a new and entirely unexpected pain. "Wait… do I have time to say goodbye?"
"Oh, sure Leo," Donnie said, his voice tight as he grabbed at a lever and yanked, shouting to be heard over the noise of the shrieking machinery. "We’ve just got Sensei in another room physically forcing the breakers to keep from shutting down so that we don’t black out half the city. I’m sure he’s good to stand there for a while longer in the middle of enough electricity to power a space station while you shoot the breeze. You’ve got plenty of time!”
"Thanks, Donnie!" Leo said, and rose to his feet, turning his back on Donatello’s flabbergasted expression to face his adoptive family. As he did, he reached into his mind with his newfound understanding of the universe and isolated each of them within their own little bubble of time. He could say goodbye to each of them without rushing now. They had all the time they needed. It was the least he could do after everything they all had done for him over the past year. They were family. And he loved them all.
Time stopped all around Michelangelo as he witnessed the contorted look of mixed joy, relief and hidden pain washed over his brother's face. The time had come and his brother would return to where he belonged.

Baby Bro
"Let’s find out," Leo said, and launched himself from the roof. He caught the extended bar of one of the streetlamps, using his momentum to swing himself and Mikey across the road and into the park beyond.
He was running again immediately, melting into the wild trees of the Ramble, one arm going back around his brother. He slowed as they passed beneath the crumbling stones of the gothic arch, and the bleating noise of the city traffic gave way to the quiet chirping of crickets and the stirring of the night animals. He reached up and tugged loose the knot on the harness, catching Mikey and tossing him into the air before setting his tiny brother down on his feet. “There you go, little bro." He patted Mikey’s little shell. “Take a look."
Mikey squealed joyfully as he was tossed in the air once more, another bout of giggles leaving him breathless. When placed on his feet, he ran a few paces down the path ahead in excitement.
After leaving the safe proximity of his oldest brother, the darkness of the forest suddenly seemed to be all the more sinister and the tiny turtle halted.
The scratchy noise of various dry tree limbs spooked him into a run right back to Leo.
Shivering in his shell, Mikey clutched his brother’s leg, looking around frantically for monsters in the shadows. “What’s that noise, Nii-chan?!"
Leo rested his hand against Mikey’s shell, rubbing gently. “Nothing to be scared of, otouto." He knelt down next to his tiny brother, pointing into the trees. “Look," he whispered. After a small pause a squirrel darted along a limb and clambered down the trunk to the ground, startling a mama bunny and her babies into flight. As the brothers held very still, the bunnies hopped past them, the littlest baby bumping into Mikey’s leg before righting itself and darting after mama.
Leo grinned at Mikey, planting a hand on his head. “See?" he whispered.
Mikey bravely resisted the urge to pick up the tiny bunny, knowing it would miss its family terribly, before watching it hop away after them. Relieved that there were no monsters in the forest to be afraid of, Mikey walked on, but not without first making sure he held on tight to Leo's hand.
Big sky-blue eyes scanned the forest for a tree similar to Splinter's and his imagination flew, wondering if they would find magical creatures or have an amazing adventure in the woods.
Mikey gasped and let go his brother's hand, scrambling under the scraggly limbs of a long dead tree with a jagged hole at it's base. A few seconds later he reemerged from the remains of the tree with something clutched preciously in his hands.
"Nii-chan! Nii-chan! I found a magic stone!" Bursting with excitement, the turtletot revealed to Leo a stone the size of his palm smoothed to a glossy finish that reflected light in bright metallic purples and greens. "It's so pretty! What does it do, Nii-chan?"
Baby Bro
The wind swept up making the tiny turtle shiver unconsciously, but the cold was ignored for it was no match against the sight of central park at night. “Woah… there’s so many trees! It’s so pretty! Are there any like Master Splinter’s tree down there?” Mikey scanned the forest for a similar tree, but they were too far to tell the shapes of the leaves.
His exitement came back with renewed strenght at the prospect of investigating the forest for Master Splinter’s tree. And in his own little mind, possibly even bringing back home a companion for their own old tree.

The Closest It'll Ever Get
Mikey made a thoughtful expression as he made sure he’d remember this turtle’s wisdom for when he reunited with his brothers.
At the sight of the feline, the young turtle’s eyes glowed and he gasped. “KITTY!!!”
Michelangelo grinned at Mikey’s excited expression. “Yup! Klunk here is my fierce little ninja kitty. Aren’t you, girl?" Klunk meowed again in response, though her eyes never left little Mikey’s. Curious, the kitten leaned forward, whiskers twitching, then reached out with one little white paw and very gently patted Mikey’s nose.
The turtletot giggled as the furry soft paw tickled his beak. Reaching out with tiny hands, Mikey petted the near-silky fur and smiled at the gentle feline.
Turning to Grin at the older turtle, Mikey hugged Klunk close, "Could I have I kitty too?"
Lonely
ninjaturtledonnie asked you:
"Hey Mikey!" the taller turtle exclaimed, running up and scooping the other into a hug. He kept him pressed tightly against him for a moment. "How're you?"
A warm smile inevitably pulled at Mikey's cheeks as he hugged his older brother back. It was an understatement to say he was pleasantly surprised. Not to mention he'd been needing one- badly. "I'm good, Donnie... I missed you!" Said the tiny turtle as he snuggled into his brother's embrace.
(Hmmm I just saw the newest episode don't know what to think...have you seen it yet? I have a link reblogged from somewhere else.)
( I saw it already, but thank you VERY much for the offer! I have to say I loved the episode! Very creepy and fun to watch, the only thing i didn't like was how don and leo were being overly mean about Mike's capabilities but i was happy they learned they were wrong about him. I give the episode a 8/10 because it gave me the shivers and it still has my mind running! )
"Happy Father's Day, Otousan!"
Baby Bro
Mikey held on as tight as he could, hands fisting on the harness. The speed with which his brother moved thrilled him and he laughed excitedly. Once they reached the rooftops his eyes lit up as he took in all the lights, building and the overall grandeur of the city.
“I’m ready, Nii-chan!” Responded the tiny turtle, looking up till his head tapped Leo’s plastron. When he looked back down at the city, his grin was replaced with a thoughtful frown. “But, where’s the forest?”
Leo laughed and dropped a kiss on the upturned face. “It’s at the heart of the city. Hold on tight, now!”
And with that, he was off, racing over the rooftops. Letting the harness bear most of his brother’s weight, he dove and flipped, letting his baby brother experience the thrill of rooftop running for himself. It seemed like an eternity, and no time at all, before they arrived at the Museum of Natural History. Perching on the roof, Leo let his brother get a good look at the expanse of forest beyond. “There you go, Mikey. What do you think?”
The wind swept up making the tiny turtle shiver unconsciously, but the cold was ignored for it was no match against the sight of central park at night. "Woah... there's so many trees! It's so pretty! The Closest It'll Ever Get
“Mmhm! Papa likes it when I hug him! I try to make my brothers like my hugs, and most times they do, but sometimes they get all grumpy, like Raph!” Said the tiny turtle, hugging Mike tight and nuzzling back happily.
Michelangelo laughed again and gave the little turtle a squeeze. “When they’re grumpy, sometimes that’s when they need hugs the most!” he informed Mikey solemnly.
Then there was a little ‘meow’ as Klunk emerged from her hiding place in Mike’s shell and sat on his shoulder, regarding the little Mikey curiously with baby blue eyes. “Hey, look who’s come out to say hello! Meet Klunk, kiddo!”
Mikey made a thoughtful expression as he made sure he'd remember this turtle's wisdom for when he reunited with his brothers.
At the sight of the feline, the young turtle's eyes glowed and he gasped. "KITTY!!!"
