Lizzy Caplan and Party Down Season 3

I’ve seen a lot of Party Down fans saying they miss Casey and are disappointed she’s not in season 3, so I thought I’d make a post to explain her absence and potential return.

(all information is from this New York Times article which I posted for free here)

During pre-production of season 3, John Enbom (EP and writer) originally structured the plot of the entire season around Henry and Casey’s relationship. When Caplan was not available, this material was changed to Jennifer Garner’s character. So maybe in the upcoming episodes we will get some Casey-esqe lines delivered by Evie instead.

Lizzy Caplan could not return for season 3 because she had already committed to filming “Fleishman is in Trouble.” She was very sad she couldn’t make it and sent cupcakes to the PD set. She said she will definitely return for the fourth season if Starz renews the show. She said, “You better believe I’m not missing that one.”

But will she make a surprise guest appearance in the season 3 finale?

This is pure speculation. Please do not treat this with any merit or reliability. I think it’s pretty unlikely to happen…but here’s what we know about the finale episode so far:
