This post may be long, so most of my issues will be addressed under the cut, I understand if you wish not to interact with this post, this is not a confession blog. [PT: This is not a confession blog.]
My problems with the editblr community begin with the ableism I and my other peers have seen. This includes posts with heavy symbol usage, aswell as fonts and typing quirks. Plain text should be popularized more. Fonts & symbols can not be read by screenreaders, this is an extremely important issue.
Other ableism includes demonization towards people with cluster b disorders and using the names of them as insults. This is incredibly harmful and can cause people to draw away from the community. Please remember, just because you're disabled yourself does not exempt you from being ableist. This is important to remember.
Another important issue is the racism. I have seen multiple times people edit characters with dark skin in a way that either made them straight up red or lighter than they are. There are multiple PSDs by many competent creators that do not do either of these.
The treatment towards POC creators is also often extremely disappointing such as asking asian creators to gift people asian names. This is extremely harmful and this proves you do not see them as anything other than their race. I've also seen people being extemely violent with black creators after they voice their issues with the community.
People agree that these issues should be solved and for a week or two after a post like this comes out, people listen to the advice others give about making things more accessible and then, as if nothing happened, people go back to doing as they did before. I've seen a huge resurgence of fonts and heavy symbol use once again, and even as someone who's visual impairment is not as severe, it's still hard to read your posts.
There are many other issues with the community, however these are the most important ones in my honest opinion. Please everyone, treat this post as genuine concern from me, this is not a confession blog, I am an individual scared of losing my community and friends. Since 2023, these are issues I have seen get worse over the years. Please be mindful of others.
