What do you do when the light at the end of the tunnel starts to go out?
6 Month Catch Up
1. Starting off my Contextual Studies Project. We were looking in to inspiring artists to eventually create an outcome based on their techniques and styles. I chose to research Pop Art Artists who used printing skills in their works.
2. We started a project called Visual Merchandising Scheme, where we had to take inspiration from anywhere and create a scheme. From the windows, to the in-store display, to the wall bays and also the merchandise. Mine was based upon Static Motion and in particular Powder. Our planograms got under way and we all put our scale drawing skills to hand. I had the tricky task of printing off to-scale garments, cutting them out and them spraying them onto acetate.
3. I got a new job in a different department in my current company. I'm now a POS Controller; someone who maintains the upkeep of POS promotions and price changes. I also help visual displays which is great for my future career. This was taken when I spent a day tidying up my new work area into different sections and throwing dated stuff away.
4. My merchandising scheme was finally coming together and I started playing around with large Powder Burst images for various bits; wall bays, window drops and in-store displays.
5. 5 months came and went VERY quickly! It was now time to start preparing for final submission with branding elements and a presentation too. Everything went smoothly in the end.
6. So now that I'm on Summer Break, I'm working 5 days a week and this is basically my daily task; receiving POS in the deliveries and going through it all ready to put out on the start dates. Sometimes it's hard but I really enjoy it.
Neglecting my blog for 6 months was never one of my intentions when starting out and the excuses of Christmas time and my birthday and impending deadlines just don't cut it. I'm determined to start a fresh and update my blog at least once a week, if not more. So I suppose this is a 'Sorry' post and me putting a stop to the neglecting. My next post will be a '6 Month Catch Up' and I hope this is the start of something good. Thanks x
Tuesday's Post.
Mannequins. We all learnt how to dress and layer dress mannequins today. As I've had previous experience, it was fun to relive the funny times. Had a lot of fun dressing mine in my own clothes, felt like looking in the mirror.
Monday's Post.
As our project brief comes to an end, we're all busy getting everything finished ready for our summative assessment in January. The final task of the project was to create a couple of presentation boards from our window displays that we would potentially use to pitch our idea to a client/company. I chose yellow mount board to enhance the black and white. We all had to draw upon our mounting skills to finish these to a professional standard.
Passing Compliments turned 2 today!
Happy birthday Blog. Always there, always sharing. Lets see how far across the world this next year will take us.
Tuesday's Post.
In keeping with our work, we learnt how to technically draw our window displays in plan, birds-eye-view and side today. I really enjoyed this technique and picked up the different angles and lines quite quickly.
Monday's Post.
Went for a trip into London today, visited Wolff Olins and the Saatchi gallery. I even had time to go round the Christmas windows. Was blown away by the Peter Jones displays near Sloane Square. I'd previously heard of the idea intended but to see it for real was on another level. All the creatures created are amazingly outstanding.
My stack of work produced in the time of starting university, all laid out ready for the formative assessment.
