They toe off their shoes in the entryway and Shane looks around, pulling in a deep breath and letting it go. Two hours ago, his dad had walked in on him and Ilya and Shane had thought the world was ending. Now, the world seems bigger and more plausible than ever, like a smooth, fresh field of ice, stretching all the way to the horizon, just waiting for his skates to mark it up. He turns, and there is Ilya, hands in his pockets, watching Shane with a look of lazy contentment on his face as if he feels it, too.

OR: Two weeks at the cottage.

Highly highly recommend both of the Heated Rivalry fics by this author!

If Heated Rivalry maintains the current pace of new stories posted to A03 daily, the fandom is on track to get over 86,000 new fics by the end of the year.

Amazingly, the volume posted to A03 has increased enough that we're now on track to get over 112,000 new Heated Rivalry fics by the end of the year.

I know there's speculation that AI written fics are distorting these numbers and while I have no doubt that represents a small percentage, it doesn't supplant the mass amount of real creative output from fans. It's beautiful to see.
