HEARTSTOPPER FOREVER (2026)
Okay I’m going to rant a little lol.
Im currently watching the heartstopper Movie and I can’t stop thinking about it. Like genuinely I can’t stop smiling it’s incredibly cute and good. These characters hit you in such a way that is just so beautiful. Over the years many people have said that it’s cringe or tooo sappy or whatever. But like that the point. Thats the reason they work so well. Why this show in particular has worked and touched so many people. The effort the entire cast and crew has put into making it feel like the comics yet expanding on it. Is so beautiful. Nick and Charlie feel like nick and Charlie. They don’t feel different from the books. They are exactly what they are supposed to be. Young adolescents finding their own place in this world and finding love in the process.
Yes it’s cheesy and tooth rotting fluffy but that’s what’s ment to be. Especially when it’s about queer love. I love how the problems that are shown is them versus an external problem. Nick and Charlie are healthy and have communication. They interact with each other with trust and love. Giving each other space to grow and share on their own time. Obviously they aren’t perfect they are teens and sometimes they don’t know how to communicate well. But even when they don’t understand how to express themselves. Their trust and feelings never change.
Having read the final comic before the movie I know what’s coming with nick. And honestly I think it’s so important to touch on it. Especially because it’s so important for us to see that nick although a lovely boyfriend and friend. He is so much more than that. It’s also very common for people around their age to feel like that. Especially when they are in a committed relationship like Nick and Charlie. With this movie you feel how much they have grown and how much they are comfortable being with each other. It’s a little more adult and more intimate. Not with just Nick and Charlie with all the couples. Tara and Darcy, Tao and Elle. It shows how even though they all feel like they’re alone in feeling like that. They aren’t and it’s very common to feel like you’re walking in uneven ground.

not to compare queer media but watching heartstopper after heated rivalry im really being reminded of the critical differences in genre, esp coming of age vs. romance. going into a show or book aware of the genre is soooo important! bc like in heartstopper a big part of movie how important it is to be able to find goodness and okay-ness on your own and be independent, and in the long game the big beautiful ending only confirms that they're like cats from the shelter you cant separate or they'll freak the fuck out .

what a beautiful day to not be in high school
This is the like those “remember to be grateful you don’t have a sore throat right now” posts. It IS a beautiful day to not be in high school! Thank you!
the way rr/tierney introduce ilya is so funny to me because when you first see him you're just like jeez this guy is such an asshole why is he like this. and then seconds later it's just like um it's because he has a 1) dead mom 2) who killed herself 3) an abusive dad 4) with alzheimers 5) a brother 6) who verbally abuses him on the phone 7) when ilya refuses to wire him 50 bands all at once 8) all while he spends new years eve all alone in the grossest motel you've ever seen 9) and he's bisexual.
and you're just like. well shit. that will do it i guess.

actually have nothing funny or snarky to say about episode 5. this is just actually the most moving and heartwrenching television i've ever witnessed and it changed my life. it changed so many people's lives. sometimes i'm like the hr hype is lowkey a little too insane and then i watch this episode and i feel like the world writ large actually underreacted to how legendary this episode was. i too would actually soul bond with francois, hudson, and connor if i witnessed this live in the dead of winter.
like i'm sorry rr/tierney ate with this....... like the idea that someone else coming out being the impetous for you yourself taking a big leap of faith too is so like. what being gay and in a community is about. like you just literally don't know you aren't the only one if someone doesn't come out and do something so ridiculously brave. sorry i'm being so earnest about this because i'm writing this mid tears. like that thing jacob said about how scott's coming out needs to be outlandish and loud to contrast the like quiet and tender coming together of shane and ilya. the problem with this show is that it's literally that good.
You're a spark in the dark
