I've been staring at this so long, I'm finally done! Hahaha I adore these two, and really wanted to draw something for them more then some fast doodles!

King talking about how his tear made the entire deck of cards irrelevant…

and Jevil saying “They lost the chase, and locked up their entire race, building a prison around the whole world. Now im the only free one.”

Was jevil the only card that didnt get ‘locked up’ bc the joker card is always left out of the deck?

Like. think about it.

Even though Jevil’s backstory was told to us in terms that the darkners would understand, Jevil’s “rampage” that caused him to be banished happened prior to the knight’s arrival and the fountain opening, meaning it has to translate to something happening in the light world.

Based on context from characters that know Jevil (and Jevil himself) for now I’m just gonna assume people kept using the joker card (Jevil) to cheat or that it was too overpowered (bc you can use the joker card as a wild card. allowing it fill the space of any missing card in your hand, regardless of suit or rank. ‘i can do anything’.) to be used in normal play. or both.

Jevil gets excluded from the pack of cards from that point forwards, In the dark world this is translated to him being locked away to his cell. notably, he views his prison as being “outside” card castle in the dark world. We have no idea “Where” Jevil is locked away in the light world. Possibly in a locked box underneath the classroom closet or something, Separated from the other cards.

Then, King gets torn, rendering the entire pack of cards obsolete and unfit for use. So they get put away on a separate shelf of the closet, collecting dust for years, not even knowing that Gerson’s long passed away and that the classroom itself is abandoned.
