There’s a quote that says people come into our lives for a reason, season or lifetime and I always hope you’re sticking around for the latter. But if you are a reason, it must be to show me that I need to fix the breaks and embrace the wounds. Perhaps you’ve served that purpose and any day now we’ll part ways. That’s a sad thought – heartbreaking in fact, but maybe that’s just the way it is. If you’re a season it’s because you were more necessary than you probably realized and a significant part of my surviving a difficult stretch in life. You provided the little bit of light in an abyss of darkness, the nourishment when I was starving, the ears when I needed a listener. Like most seasons though, you’ll run your course and suddenly be gone. Reasons and seasons both suck in the end, but they’re deserving of some appreciation if you take them for what they’re worth. Now if you are a lifetime – well then that means everything is going to work out. The worries, concerns and uncertainty will eventually disappear. Being involved in each other’s forever may not show in the cards right now, but who’s to say that the next hand we’re dealt won’t make it visible? If you’re here for a lifetime then that changes everything. If you’re here for a lifetime we haven’t met at the worst time, we’ve met at the right one — the perfect one.

This is not a Love Poem
See, i was gonna write you a love poem that Rudy Francisco Shihan trip. Do you know ‘em?
Or do you pronounce it pome? I’mma stick with po-em Cause i got these feelings and i’m bout to po’ em Out. like Frank Ocean Downed a potion of emotion i’m thinkin’ bout. You.
But got me thinking tho’ Like dude really? a love poem yo? What am i like fourteen? Am i court-ing? Maybe I’m just embarrass-ing Myself.
And besides, I don’t even know what love is. They say It is what it is. But do I really know what IT is? You know what it is? Black and yellow
But really tho’ I kind of think love is like bubblegum and jello. Bubble gum cause love is sticky Jello cause love is icky But mostly just cause love has this really weird consistency
Love feels weird
And i’m not exactly sure that’s how i feel about you
So let me think about it a bit.
See..
You kind of feel like six seasons and a movie You feel like one leg in and one leg out when it’s too warm to go full blanket and too cold to go without. You feel like warm brownie cups and cold ice cream. You feel like comfortable silences You feel like there’s no need for small talk but I still want to talk about the weather
See..
You are “cuddle” weather You are “come over” weather You are “stay-in-watch-dvd’s” together weather You are “we’re not really here to watch dvd’s, are we now?” weather You are that space between “the one” and “whoever” You are that moment between “too late” and “forever
And forever is a long time.
Enough time for strangers to stop being strangers then strangely, strangers turn to “together” But what’s stranger is that together is bound to feel stranger Stranger and stranger until it gets so strange that “together” turns back into strangers
And sometime when this happens people still think about forever when really they should be thinking in terms more like “it’s over”.
And you can always say you’re clean, you don’t roll.. whatever. But with love, let me tell you, no one ever ends up being sober.
So this is why I’m not writing you a love poem.
I’m not gonna tell you my heart skips a beat or I get lost in your eyes I’m not gonna tell you lies and say you give me butterflies when you don’t But let me tell you this tho’ You give me caterpillars
Fat little catterpillars that need space and time to grow.
This is not a love poem. It’s more like a “like poem”. Pome? Po-em? Whatever.
I’m not sure if I love you yet.
You are that space between “the one” and “whoever” You are that moment between “too late” and “forever”
We can fall in love or we can go back to being strangers. We can meet in the future, and I could be like “It’s like I never even knew her.”
I could come up to you and say “sup girl? You tryna chill?” And you’d be like “it’s too late.”
And I’d go “What do you mean its too late? Maybe it’s not late at all. Has it ever occurred to you that the reason why things never worked out was because they came too soon?”
“Think about it. How can it ever be too late for forever?”
Heard this guy perform this piece last weekend and i thought it was just amazing
