Here’s a serious advice. Even the nicest people have their limits. Don’t try to reach that point because the nicest people are also the scariest assholes when they’ve had enough.
i think there should be AU’s and then there should be UA’s
because Universe Alterations would be a good name for when your characters are in the exact same universe but you’re altering just a couple of plot points or a few character traits
One Night Stands || Darson
“I was fine,” Mason muttered, going past her. “You could have just asked Molly where I was. She would have told you.” He went upstairs, desperate to get the smell of sex off of him. It had been enjoyable at the time, but he was finished now, and he really didn’t feel any better. Well, he had, at least until he had saw Darcy.
Darcy went downstairs to her room, locking the door before laying down on her bed. At least he was safe. She had seen that for herself. She could finally sleep, knowing he was safe and sound and back in the house where he belonged. As she let herself drift off to sleep, she couldn’t help but feel a little confused as to why she’d been so angry. She knew he’d been out sleeping around, but that was no different than how he’d acted before. Why should it matter now?
Mason took an incredibly long shower, deciding that he didn’t want to think about it anymore. He just wasn’t going to worry about it. Maybe that would solve all of his problems. He got out of the shower and took his medicine before going downstairs to his workspace, figuring he would find something to work on or crash on the couch or something.
Darcy woke up several hours later, feeling hungry and still exhausted. She went upstairs to get something to eat and decided to go ahead and cook something for Mason as well. "Molly, tell Mason I'm making dinner," she said.

Mason blinked when she stopped him and said his name like that, completely confused. “What?” he asked, not understanding. He tried to edge around her but it wasn’t that easy. He whined, bouncing on his toes a little. He really needed a shower. He was sure that he could push by her if he really, really, wanted to, but he didn’t want to. He hadn’t had a good dose of his medicine either so he just needed to get up to his room as quickly as possible. “Can this wait? I really need to go to the bathroom.”
Darcy crossed her arms. "You expect me to wait? I've waited all damn night for a phone call at least," she said, her face hot with anger. "I can't believe you stayed out all damn night without so much as a phone call. I've been worried sick! I couldn't even sleep! Mason, you're my best friend. I thought you were dead. I can't believe you!" She uncrossed her arms. "Yeah, just go. Just go upstairs. I can't even look at you right now."

A few days later, Mason didn’t really feel any better. Dress shopping with Darcy had been incredibly boring and difficult if anything. He had put on a brave face and kept his composure through the whole thing though. He doubted Darcy could even tell that he was uncomfortable or unhappy. He knew he would get over it eventually. He had always known that this was going to happen. She was going to have to move on with her life and out of his. He didn’t really expect her to live in his house and take care of him forever, so he didn’t know why he was so disappointed.
So he went out. He did what he always did to solve his problems. He drank and danced and ended up not coming back home that night. Instead he crashed at his downtown apartment with a few incredibly attractive young ladies. He woke up the next morning feeling incredibly satisified with himself and his night. They made him breakfast, which was definitely a plus, and that of course led to more sex. He didn’t get home until almost two in the afternoon, though he really didn’t see why it mattered that much. He went straight upstairs to take a shower, because after all of that he definitely needed one.
Darcy was worried sick. She knew Mason hadn't really enjoyed helping her find a dress, and while she'd found a perfect fit, the smile hadn't quite reached his eyes when she'd showed him.
She was currently sitting at the kitchen table, hand wrapped around a mug of coffee. She hadn't slept at all. He'd gone missing--or rather, she had a general idea of where he was, but she hadn't heard from him all night. She looked up when she heard a car door slam outside and felt pure rage filtering through her. "Mason Seth Issacs," she growled, standing up. He wasn't getting past her so easily.

“Of course,” Mason said, biting on his lower lip a little when she touched him. “I’m just glad you guys worked it out. I expected you to come home a crying mess and I really didn’t know what I was going to do.” He laughed lightly, smiling at her more genuinely.
Darcy pulled her hand away, smiling widely at him. "You're so ridiculous," she said, lightly tapping his arm. "Okay. We'll go dress shopping...in two days. I've only two months to plan everything. But first...Halo?"

“Yeah, yeah, you’re mine too,” Mason told her, forcing a smile. He didn’t like his current emotional state. He knew that this was what was best for Darcy, so why was he so disappointed?
Darcy tilted her head. She knew that smile wasn't genuine. She ran her thumb over his lower lip, feeling an immense need to kiss any of his bad feelings away. "Are you okay?" she murmured.

Mason nodded. “Yeah. Yeah. He would have,” he agreed, though he was really just saying that. “Well… then I guess I should congratulate you.” He got up, going over to her and hugging her. “Congratulations.”
Darcy melted into his arms, burying her face in his shirt. His hug felt safe and familiar, whereas the hug she’d received from Charlie before they left the restaurant had felt cold and distant. “Thank you,” she murmured. “I—I’m going to need help picking out a wedding dress. Will you help me?”
Mason bit his bottom lip, nodding a little. “Of course,” he told her. “I’ll help you with whatever you need. I want to make this as easy for you as possible. He pulled away, smiling at her.
Darcy smiled up at him. "Thank you," he said, reaching up and cupping his cheek. "You're the best friend I've ever had."

“I mean… do you love him?” Mason asked simply. “Isn’t that what a marriage is supposed to be about? Love?” He leaned back in his chair, trying not to show any emotion that would be considered negative. “I mean, do you trust him? That’s he’s going to keep his word? You guys have been friends forever.”
Darcy looked down. "I do," she said. "I mean, he's been my friend for almost five years." She was silent for a moment. "I don't know if I can trust him. I mean, I guess I should just...try? I mean, if he wanted to be with Ally, he would have proposed to her, right?"

Mason looked from her face to the ring and back again, unsure of what he should say. No. No. It definitely wasn’t. Could he say that? Was that appropriate? “I…” He was at a complete loss for words. “Darcy, if this is what you want, then yeah, it’s the right thing.”
Darcy ran a shaky hand through her hair. "I just--I don't know. I don't know if this is what I want," she said. "It happened so fast. What if he lied? I have no proof of any other time...but he could have been cheating all along and I'd never know."

Darcy still couldn’t believe that she was engaged to Charlie Macon. She pulled into the driveway and climbed out of the car, going into the kitchen. She knew Mason was likely going to be downstairs in his workshop, so she went down there and stepped inside. “I’m getting married,” she said, her voice a little devoid of emotion. “May twenty-second. I—I’m getting married.” She said it again under her breath, as if to convince herself that this was true.
Mason was in his workshop watching TV. He had mixed feelings about Darcy getting back. He didn’t want her to be sad. Was she going to be sad? What was he supposed to do if she was crying? He knew she was going to cry, she was breaking up with her boyfriend. He turned in his chair when she came in, frowning a little when she didn’t look sad, just surprised. He felt his mouth fall open when she said that. “Married?”
Darcy nodded. "I--I told him I wanted to break up, showed him the video, and he apologized. Said it would never happen again. That it had only happened once. Then he was on his knee, proposing to me," she said. She held out a hand, showing him the ring Charlie had gotten. "I said yes. I--this is--Mason, is this the right thing?" She didn't tell him that when she had kissed Charlie, it had felt wrong.
