I saw this video and realised I had never seen or heard that quote about them sharing a hotel room in the 60s and I have so many thoughts about it.

“When we were working together back in the 60s, we used to just stay in the same [hotel]room. We thought it was an incredibly great night, because we were gonna stay in a Holiday Inn and you could put a quarter in a machine and the bed would vibrate.”

1. The way Paul phrased that first sentence makes it sound like they were sharing a hotel room regularly.

2. Paul saying the bed, implying there was only one bed in the hotel room and that they would be sharing it. Combined with 1. it sounds like them sharing a bed was a regular occurrence.

3. The implication that they would have an incredibly great night because of the vibrating bed. Doesn’t take much to imagine what exactly they would be doing on that bed.

your time has come/ all you dreams are on their way = when art left paul to fly down to Mexico to film catch 22 with jack Nicholson? I don’t know when ? but art obviously really wanted to make a change and pursue a film career and pursue a dream

shine = shine, you shine on me, a reference to those lyrics in ‘only living boy in new York’ to (allegedly, in my opinion) describe paul’s vision of art like an angelic glowing force like the sun which I think is the most romantic ever
