the  folly  of  humanity  rested  on  the  shoulders  of  its  pride,  the  desire  to  assume  the  stead  of  their  own  selves  to  create  their  nation.  it  is  a  formidable  feat  for  sure,  and  one  that  should  not  be  underestimated  --  however,  where  does  the  arrogance  of  said  feat  begin  to  rear  it's  ugly  head  upon  its  people?  a  godless  nation  ruled  by  its  people  would  come  to  meet  that  fate  in  its  eventual  ruin.  and  where  that  burden  is  placed  on  the  shoulders  of  a  single  child,  it  would  be  the  cause  of  the  never  ending  conflict  within  their  entire  being.  

❛  the  anemo  archon?  …  ❜  the  knight  pauses  at  the  man's  question,  seemingly  deep  in  thought  before  they  respond.  ❛  not  necessarily.  ❜  a  vague  answer  as  always.  ❛  i  would  say  i  have  no  real  need  to  pray  to  any  gods.  after  all,  if  you  place  too  much  trust  onto  them,  then  i’d  say  you’re  leading  to  your  own  self  destruction.  ❜  there's  a  shrug  of  their  shoulders,  a  shift  in  their  posture  as  they  relax  into  something  more  comfortable.  their  gaze  seems  to  bear  an  interest  in  intent  in  the  man’s  attire,  and  specifically  the  aura  that  he  carried  around  him.  it  seemed  …  familiar,  yet  they  couldn’t  put  their  finger  on  what  it  was.    ❛  what  begs  you  to  ask  a  question  such  as  this?  ❜

a  rare,  genuine  smile  graces  their  features,  letting  the  sword  in  their  hand  vanish  in  a  sparkle  of  light.  ❛  thank  you,  bennett.  ❜  their  hand  reaches  out  to  playfully  rustle  their  fingers  through  their  hair,  mussing  with  it  for  a  bit  before  they  pull  back.  ❛  with  enough  practice,  you’ll  soon  outshine  me  someday.  why,  as  a  matter  of  fact  you’ve  already  shown  great  improvement!  ❜  the  training  dummies  that  both  bennett  and  kaeya  had  been  practicing  on  were  broken  cleanly  in  half,  or  had  been  broken  into  many  pieces.  it  was  more  than  how  their  usual  practice  went,  and  kaeya  was  genuinely  very  proud  of  them  (  even  though  their  emotions  didn’t  show  it  as  much  ).  ❛  see?  ❜

Pyro kids and the Cavalry Captain 

My heart was blessed last week when i found a post about how Bennett canonically sees Kaeya as a big brother. 

It made me realise how he is a brother figure to all the young Pyro users in Mondstadt and I had to be sappy and draw them all being happpyyyyy <3 <3.  

(Amber is more a headcanon, but i see Kaeya lookin out for her even though he likes to tease her, they definitely care for each other ya know.) 

BONUS : (maybe the weird grown up wants a hug too?)

the  first  meeting.

life  is  normal.  it's  scripted.  it's  functional.  then  one  day,  you  meet  them,  and...  oh.  you  fix  your  posture,  you're  a  little  nervous,  and  it's  totally  possible  you're  just  projecting  --  but  this  could  be  something.  and  the  only  thing  that  makes  this  different  from  the  hundreds  of  other  times  you  had  that  exact  same  thought  only  to  be  disappointed  is...  this  is  the  time  that  counts.  things  change.  you  were  looking  for  someone  whose  very  existence  re-contextualized  yours.  which  is  not  to  say  that  you  were  incomplete,  but...  aren't  we  all?  isn't  that  the  essence  of  being  a  being  who  changes?  and  what  completes  us  if  not  the  love  of  something  or  someone  beyond  us?  sure  it's  still  new,  and  anything  could  happen  from  here,  but  there's  something  in  your  shared  brain  chemistry  that  makes  it  feel  like  good  things  are  in  motion.  how  exciting!

the  small  kitten  nestled  in  their  shirt  seems  to  be  mewling  for  eivor’s  attention  as  it  tries  to  paw  its  way  out.  there’s  a  hint  of  a  genuine  smile  on  their  face  as  they  lift  the  fluffy  bundle  out  and  place  it  onto  their  palm,  watching  the  kitten  curl  contently  into  a  ball  and  falling  asleep.
