I like to imagine Childe's just casually talking about the time he took down five pirate ships using nothing more than a rusty fish hook, some seaweed he had stuck to his fin, and a dream. Lumine on the other hand doesn't believe a single word of it.

Just a wip of what I’m working on. I’ll probably change a few things here and there but for now this is the direction where I’m heading with this.

So for these designs I was inspired by the traditional dress in Mexico. It’s a two-piece huipil and If you search “huipil” on insta you’ll find exactly the kind I’m talking about, for some reason google doesn’t really show off the type I’ve been inspired by. Anyways I wanted to emulate that but also give it a distinct “Natlan” look so I also took inspiration from what the dragons wore. I think it came out nice.

The wings are inspired by the green breasted mango (they’re translucent here just to show off the back.)

(Also, can I just spit my shit for a minute and say I never understood the character has wings and wears a pullover hoodie oc character design shit we use to do back in the late 2000's/2010's. Like I know we all had that one emo OC growing up but like did we ever sit down and ask ourselves how the fuck were those wings coming out of those hoodies like logistically how did even work? Idk, when I was designing these the thought hit me and I took several hours trying to reason with myself about it.)

Lumine’s tribal design is just inspired by what the npcs wear but a bit more western with the chaps. I should’ve had one for Aether but it just wasn’t coming together but hey at least he got something lmao. I still got time to pull it together...I think...

I liked how these came out tbh.

So my thought process on this was to keep that late 1800s feel but also not make it too fancy. Looking at what the people wore around the pioneer/western boom a lot of them only wore what they could afford and what was easy to move in. I based the clothes colors on Teucer's color palette so they look more cohesive..kinda? Idk.

So my thought process on design was to have a general time period to base the clothes on (late 1800's) and go off from there. I also looked into what people were wearing in the regions that Natlan was based on and the time period that I looking into. Turns out, not too different from what the American west was wearing at that time too. I also thought about maybe incorporating "natlan" designs but I figured I would keep that more to the tribes since this is mostly happening in a boomtown and it wouldn't make any sense to have them wear regional designs. I am making a couple more designs for Lumine that'll be more Natlan but that won't get posted till like later.

The outfits are pretty straightforward. I've tried to keep some semblance of what their in-game looks are so there's some familiarity but that's pretty much it. Lumine's pants on the white outfit are suppose to be those bicycle pants that turn into a skirt when you button up the panels together (I don't remember the name.) At one point I did draw lumine with a more in-game accurate hairstyle but tbh the shape language was not it so I made it more "untamed" to give it a little something. Childe I tried to keep it similar to his in-game outfit and colors but idk I feel like I could've probably done more but tbh from the inspo I was using there really wasn't much different from his actual design so eh. Maybe I'll make a Natlan version for him, maybe not, we'll see.
