A grin tugged on the corner of his lips at her question , an eyebrow arching. “Emmett’s as lame as they can be. You’ve never seen his super hero bedsheets,” he teased with a wide grin, I’m clearly the coolest person at our school.” he leaned back onto his arms — leaning onto the porch behind and resting on his elbows. “I guess I’m just surprised to hear about you two helping with the Glee club. You don’t seem the type.” He kept his eyes trained on her, watching her every move before forcing himself to look away from her. He let his eyes flick out to the lake, watching as the water shimmered against the sunlight.
God, he had to admit; it felt good getting away.
He turned his attention back to her as she finished their shared cigarette, his fingers tapping on the wood that he had been sitting on. Blue eyes scanned over the side of her face, before tearing his eyes away when she looked back at him. He reached up, tugging his fingers through his long curly locks and hoping that she hadn’t just caught him staring. She was pretty, so it was easy to get lost in the slopes and curves of her features. He licked his lips, wiggling his fingers slightly to get rid of the lingering bit of electricity that moved through his arm — something that stirred something inside of him that he wanted to ignore.
“Why do you hate Emmett so much?” he glanced over at her once more, arching an eyebrow, “He’s a fuckin’ asshole, but he’s not all bad.”
Rachel let out a laugh at his words, shaking her head as she attempted to open up her water bottle— her eyebrows pressing together just slightly in frustration as her attempt failed. “Far out enough to where eventually when Kat comes looking for us, it’ll take her a bit to find us,” she stated, looking up at him and offering a slight smile — attempting to open her water bottle once more before a sigh of defeat and setting it down next to her.
Her eyebrows rose as he sat down next to her, unable to help the wide smile that grew on her lips as he draped his jacket around her shoulders. She immediately snuggled into it, pressing her nose into the collar and inhaling his scent that had quickly become comforting to her. She found that after he left her house for a study session, there was always that distinct muskiness that lingered that always managed to comfort her. “My dads work hard to make sure we have everything,” she breathed, looking up at him over the collar of his jacket, “This was their compromise. Daddy hates camping, but Papa loves it. So they got a cabin.”
She gripped onto the inside of his jacket as she shifted closer to him, leaning over to rest against his arm despite the way her heart was pounding in her chest. She knew that Kat and well…everyone had qualms against her fairly obvious crush on him. But they only really got to see how he was around his teammates. He was different when he was alone — or at least with her. She rested her head on his shoulder, curling her legs under her as she looked back up at him.
“I’m sure your dock and/or boat parties are much cooler than this,” she blew a piece of hair from her face as her eyes flicked around the trees, “I’m sorry this is all kinda…lame and quiet.” She didn’t have very many friends, and most of the people in the glee club really didn’t hang out with her outside of rehearsals. “Hopefully I’ll be able to make it up to you, eventually.” She looked up at him once more, chewing on the inside of her cheek before she moved onto her knees. She leaned forward and pressed a kiss against his cheek, her hand resting on his arm to give it a squeeze. “But I’m really glad you’re here. So, thank you for coming.”
