I hope everyone reblogs this.
For most of the 114 years since the American pitbull terrier was first recognized by the United Kennel Club, the breed was rightly seen as the perfect “nanny dog” for children because of its friendly nature, loyalty and stability. [x]
Pit bulls have always been protectors. With good owners and proper care, they still are. Chako*, Lefty, Baby, Creature, and Bela are proof of that.
Pitbulls are great dogs and anyone who says otherwise can fucking fight me
It wasn’t just their friendly nature that made them the nanny dog. They also have a tendency to gently herd their charges to ensure they stay in a safe area and they are fiercely protective.
When my nephew was born they had a pitt mix named Butters and you actually had to ask BUTTERS if you could hold, touch, or even get too close to HIS baby. If it was one of the family he wouldn’t harm you if you didn’t ask, but he would paw and nudge and do everything short of bitting to get at HIS baby. If it wasn’t a member of the family, he’d actually growl and snap if you didn’t get permission from HIM. Even when you did ask, he’d still sit right at your feet or follow you around, eyes always on HIS baby. When you’d put the baby down he’d put his nose up to the baby and give him a quick lick before laying down next to him. As he got older Butters would follow Gabe around and block him from getting into things he shouldn’t (cabinets, the kitchen when someone was cooking, ect). Actually, he tried to keep Gabe near his sister (whos a year younger and got the “this is MY baby treatment the same as Gabe) so it was easier to keep an eye on both HIS babies.
Pittbulls ARE nanny dogs. Its in their breeding, more than fighting is.
Hell, even fighting dogs are not likely to be people aggressive, just dog aggressive. They are still loyal to their masters. Even badly raised Pitts who do attack people tend to be either protecting their masters/property or snap as a result of abuse.
Dogs in general are amazing gifts from the gods. Pits , and all the bully breeds in my opinion, are special beyond words.
Amazing! Got to boost this! Got to!
They sadly got a bad name because of bad people l know any dog can be a sweet loving dog.
