You can't convince me that eridians wouldn't have clothes that look like the colors were scribbled on by some pre schooler

Ok buckle in, because I need someone to either tell me I'm not crazy, or debunk this for me.

In Project Hail Mary, the theory is (from what I remember) that life at Tau Ceti is kind of an ancestor to life in other solar systems. Right? So Astrophage brings life to our solar system that then starts to evolve separately, on Earth and in space/on Venus.

And, in the book, we learn that Astrophage contains a mitochondria, or something like it. It has complex, specialized organelles to carry out its energy conversions. This means it has to be a eukaryotic cell.

So then, how the fuck does prokaryotic life exist on earth? Bacteria SHOULD NOT BE A THING. Unless cells started ejecting their organelles when they got here, it doesn't sound plausible to me. Or maybe, Astrophage evolved to be eukaryotic only after coming to our solar system, but that means the Astrophage at Tau Ceti would be hella different from the stuff originally found in the Petrova Line.

This here is the part that makes me feel like I've missed something and need to reread the book, but if the Astrophage had been there for long enough for new life to evolve, how come the sun wasn't already dim?

I'm going off what I remember from high school science and reading the book like weeks ago (reread in progress) so if someone else has answers I have to hear about it.
