Anakin is finally knighted and gets his own clone batallion and he is becoming close with a lot of em, especially Rex and Torrent, and in turn, the clones are getting comfortable with Anakin. And then Anakin overhears some truely spectacular sibling banter
"you worthless piece of shit, I should just shoot you now to save the kaminoans the time to decomission you."
"says you, fuckwit! you'd probably end up shooting yourself not knowing which side the blaster shoots from!"
and Anakin is horrified. he tries to break it up and lecture the clones on how they are not only brothers in arms on the same side, but actual brothers too and they and Rex, who was with Anakin, have to then explain
"oh no no no! its fine i swear! this is normal! we know we don't actually mean it."
"Then why did you say it?"
"someones gotta keep our egos in check. that responsibility falls to siblings. no one else was gonna do it."
"Besides, we also know not to do that infront of anyone other than other siblings or trusted natborns. We may be assholes to eachother but we aren't actually trying to get anyone in trouble, hurt or decomissioned."
and suddenly... its like a lightbulb went off in Anakin's head. It was all just a miscommunication. Anakin saw Obi-Wan strictly as a father figure. Obi-Wan saw Anakin strictly as a lil bro. How they treated eachother reflects that heavily. Obi-Wans constant "critism" when out on a mission/alone, but praising when in the temple where other Jedi may overhear.
He was being a dickhead but he was was being Anakin's older brother of a dickhead and that changes everything.
"oh, he sees me as a little brother... I don't know how to be a little brother!?" but don't worry, he's got Rex, and the rest of the 501st to teach him. Next time Anakin is on the Negotiator, Obi-Wan in in for a surprise. (and a headache)
