started rereading wilderlore and im currently on book two and god i forgot how lowkey funny audrian’s interactions with runa and cyril are. This should not be happening. Both of your former best friends are standing there chatting with u but they’re too busy glaring daggers at each other to notice you’re you.
Like, the book literally describes runa as looking at edwyn like she’s trying to figure out if she knows him or not before he introduces himself. It’s hilarious.
not to mention that it’s runa, cyril, and edwyn that go out looking for the isle of roane when the apprentices claim to have found it. like… what would have happened if the grand three HAD found it??? Would audrian have waited a little longer before revealing himself, or would he have out and killed runa and cyril?

So I just realized something (spoilers for TNC and the first two chapters of TTG)
I was checking ao3 and read the tags of this fic
I highlighted the ones that stuck out to me (all credit to this person honestly cuz idk when I would’ve realized this) they are so right about this
When I read the ttg chapters I knew that Tadg’s dream was most likely a vision of some kind
BUT I didn’t understand why and assumed it would be explained in the rest of ttg, that’s where my theorizing stopped. But this fan fiction reminded me of the scene with Grusha in tnc
It’s literally right there, I can’t believe I forgot about this scene! I knew it was going to be important at the time but I totally pushed it to the side because so much else happened in that book. Idk it all makes so much sense to me now, in a way - Toadles is still such a mystery. But now it’s pretty clear Toadles has some kind of future telling powers which I think is very interesting.
I’ll add this at the end with my own little theory. Amanda is doing a AMA on instagram rn and there was one question she answered that might be connected to this who knows
Could Toadles be some of the unfinished business Conley left behind? Idk just a thought

I think Viola would only want to be with a woman romantically but feels like she should be with a man to have a child and continue the Dumont legacy. Basically says she’s bi but most definitely is a lesbian.
Tadg: Straight
This is the one of the straightest guys ever I’m so sorry. Loves his wife.
Shazi: Straight or lesbian no in between
Shazi has always confused me because I feel like she is probably a lesbian but she also gives girl you think is a lesbian but actually is so straight. I just know she isn’t bi.
Hasu: Straight
Straightest girl ever, never questioned anything a day in her life.
Cecily: Aroace
The aroace ever. She does not understand why her friends are talking about crushes, they are way too young for that.
Runa: Bi but only dates women now
After everything the men in her life did to her? No way
Cyril: Demiromantic ace
He doesn’t really care to be in a relationship but probably would if it all fell into place.
Audrian: Pan
I think he would date anyone but I don’t think he would ever be able to have a healthy/equal relationship because of his narcissistic personality, at least not at the point he is now.
(Rant) I really wish that Cyril didn't back down as quickly as he did when Asfour called him out.
(Really long rant post incoming)
Because if Asfour had taken his license, she would suffer from a lot more problems than Cyril would. Ignoring potential financial problems., here's a list:

First, she would probably have to relocate Cyril's apprentices, which would be difficult because they've spent their entire apprenticeship with Cyril and aren't going to be happy about getting a new mentor. This is more of a problem for Asfour than for Cyril because Cyril can easily stay in contact with them because he knows their parents, who seem to like Cyril. And, he's the Horn Of Dawn, he probably has some connections and can pull some strings, not to mention all the ways Runa could, and would, be able to help him (even if it's just for the sake of the apprentices).

Second, once the public hears about it they'll be extremely angry about it, especially if Cyril goes through the newspaper to share the news before Asfour announces it. Even though there might be a group of people who think Asfour was in the right, there will still be a large percentage of people who believe that she was wrong to do it.
If Asfour had taken Cyril's license, it would have been one of her first decisions as Grand Keeper. So, the public might see this as the power having gone to her head. Another thing that would make the public worried is the fact that there are only three people in the world who know all of Audrian's weaknesses, and Asfour just took one's license.
Audrian would be a big concern for the public, and rightfully so. With Leopold no longer being the Grand Keeper, he would be able to go into the field. However, Leopold is getting closer and closer to retirement age. What this means is that, while he is still very strong and powerful, he is getting slower and he can't keep as well with Audrian who is both on the same level as him but also much younger, which is likely why Leopold lost to Audrian at the end of TNC. Because of this, the public might lose trust in Leopold's ability to defeat Audrian.
Unlike Leopold, Cyril is around the same age as Audrian and is on the same level as Runa, in terms of athletic ability. Not only that but Cyril is known for being good at what he does, which is why he's earned so many medals. The public would likely put more faith in Cyril than they would in Leopold, especially since Leopold hasn't done much of being a Guardian since he was appointed Grand Keeper.

Third, as previously mentioned, Audrian. Audrian would be a big problem for Asfour because he's so dangerous, powerful, and unpredictable. She needs people who have experience fighting him, are on the same level as him, and know his weaknesses. Cyril fits in all of those boxes, but he doesn't have a license, leaving a gap in her arsenal. She could try to fill that gap with Cyril's apprentices, but that would also bring their new mentors into the line of fire. Audrian would likely target these Guardians because they don't have much experience fighting him and they don't know his weaknesses. Not to mention that we Lore has a tendency to act strangely when an apprentice is with a mentor that isn't the right fit, so the girls, minus Viola, would probably have trouble properly controlling their lore.

Fourth, now that Cyril doesn't have his license anymore, Asfour has no control over him. Meaning that, as long as it's not illegal, he can do anything he wants and she can't do anything about it. Cyril could probably disappear if he wanted to, and if he did Asfour would probably never be able to find him again if she changed her mind. Not to mention that Cyril could say anything he wants now. If he wanted to, Cyril could have the Keeper's Chronicle write an article claiming that Asfour didn't have the Wilderlands' best interest in mind or something else that could ruin Asfour's reputation and many people would probably believe it, especially if they believed that Asfour was in the wrong.

These are just some of the things that I think could hypothetically happen if Cyril had actually stood his ground a bit more and challenged the threats that Asfour was making, there might be others so I'll probably add to this at some point.
