she is thriving | THE BEAR SEASON TWO
recently stumbled into your blog and omg i love your arts! i'm really curious about peach tho. mind telling us a bit (or as much as you want xD) about her? thank you!
Omg hii and I'm so so so happy to hear that you like my art! I promise I'll make serious and better Bear art soon!! âĄâĄâĄ
As for the Peach, she's one interesting gal. She's that kind of person that doesn't know how to handle most day to day events so she's always cracking jokes (unless it's a serious situation, then she tries not to smile and shuts up completely).
Her position is at front working as a server (Carmy thought it'll be good to have someone fill in for Richie when he was messing around like I'm season 1). While she does have some experience she's no where near with cooking knowledge like Tina, Ebra and Marcus, let alone Sydney and Carmy but I plan to make her get into that seriously as the story progresses. âËâĄâĄ
And lastly she's from small European country, she came to Chicago in search of something and that something is tied to her trauma to her passion for arts (who would've guess haha), and that will bond her to Carmy.
I'm trying to put the right words for her in my notes but honestly I'm better at drawing than writing so bear with me (dad joke hehe) and if I'm lucky enough I might even upload some animatics here to show her personality better.
Thank you again for your support and let it rip!!

Carmy and Claire... ooof
Iâm just gonna get into it.Â
She tried to be Carmyâs Pete
I feel like Claire is supposed to be Carmyâs Pete, but it doesnât work because Carmy is not Sugar. I was searching for a parallel to how they were trying to show Claire as a balancing force for Carmy. Which I get. Opposites attract. You see that with Nat and Pete but for some reason it doesnât work with Carmy because he is so much more ill adjusted than Sugar. Claire, despite being super understanding, also never saw the worst of Carmy. He reserved the worst for the restaurant and used her as an escape. He reserved the worst for Sydney. So Claire was never truly tested or trusted to see it all so of course she easily loved him. They never argued. I did like the softness and gentleness we saw. Carmy needs that, but it just wasnât totally honest because they were in the honeymoon phase and he was on best behavior just for her. What if she was struggling at some point, would he be able to be there for her in the same way? No. I think this was a perfect example of a woman thinking she can fix a man. The problem is she never saw how deeply he is broken.Â
Carmy created a love bubble
Carmy never set boundaries and said this is what I can give while Iâm on this new project. So she got a false sense of what his world really is and what his priorities needed to be. She has a busy job too but it seemed he accommodated her so in a sense she never really saw the actual reality of them both working like crazy and him coming home stressed. He created a bubble of perfection with her at the center that was never going to be sustainable.Â
The whole portrayal was lame.Â
Not gonna lie, I did like seeing romantic Carmy, for personal reasons. If my one positive takeaway is yes he wants to fuck women, yes he can be gentle, thatâs a win for me. BUT the overall tone just wasnât hitting. Which gets to a bigger gripe about the tone of most of the episodes not hitting for me. It felt very primetime drama for me with the dialogue equivalent to a teen show. They even went to what looked like a frat party. Her lines were very, âIâm the perfect, quirky, understanding girl with no problems of my own,â and he got throwaways like, âSheâs so great it scares me.â Just really mediocre compared to dialogue weâve seen written for this show. And the fireworks kiss? Come on! I was expecting running in the rain to happen at any moment. I couldnât tell if the writers wanted me to be invested in them or not. I guess maybe they were trying to make a reliving of Carmyâs lost youth, quite literally? I dunno. It felt sweet at times but also just super corny and out of place on this show.Â
Is she a pick me?Â
I actually hate this term. I feel itâs used so flippantly and can be hurled at any woman like a slur. But saying it defines what I mean so forgive me. Claire got the red flag literally from day one. He gave her the wrong number but she still pursued him. She questioned him on it a few times until she got a real answer but his answer was kind of bland. He just said I like you so much and donât want to mess up. I dunno, when Iâve heard that from a man in the past, they usually do mess the fuck up, big time. This is their way of letting you know. She obviously didnât ask to define the relationship. Carmy works it out with the crew so they never had the conversation with each other. The whole girlfriend/girl who is a friend thing was so lame for a grown adult man to need to ask about. Sydney was right to punk him and be like which is it? Exactly how important is this? So was Claire never questioning what they were this whole time? She said I love you to him first, I think? She said it on the voice message, which I thought was a bit bizarre. He said he loved her to other people but we never saw him say it to her face. I think it was just really strange that we never got a scene of them saying it to each other. Sorry, Iâm old fashioned, the man needs to say it first, to a womanâs face. I feel this is one step away from a woman proposing to a man which is also a no for me.Â
I didnât understand the family connectionÂ
They all know her yet we hear nothing about her from them and Carmy has been home quite awhile at this point. Fak has her number? They call her Claire Bear? They donât call anyone not immediate family Bear so why does she get that? Because it rhymes? Eeek. She is supposedly so close with them all but we never see them interact with her until she dates Carmy? Sugar never mentioned her. Did he have a crush in high school or did he just wish they were friends before? When Mikey, Richie, and Fak try to push her on him at Christmas he seems really disinterested. Was it just a self esteem thing, that he was put on the spot, he didnât want a relationship, or just didnât have a crush on her like that? Itâs really unclear what that was about. And then she knows about The Bear name but he says he wishes she talked to him more. So when was this conversation? Itâs just really sloppy and none of the details align. Everyone treats her like she was so close to the family but thereâs no real evidence of that from the past that makes any sense. Iâve seen some fans say Carmy connected her with his family trauma and thatâs why it canât work. I donât really get that. Maybe thatâs what they tried to write but Iâm not getting how when it seems the family connection is just them trying to set him up with her. Am I missing something?
Will they explore this again?
I think itâs hard to tell. It is interesting that they started in the refrigerated section and it ended because Carmy was trapped in a fridge. Cold, literally. The use of the blue light when they were in bed and the blue light when Carmy was trapped was interesting. Does it mean finality? I donât know. She didnât even get a last name. They didnât really end it face to face. Would they explore it again if Carmy is more stable? At this point I have no idea what they intend but I canât conclude itâs done, done. Overall, the fan reactions have been negative. Iâm not sure if the show cares or not. If I were her I would stay away. Repeat relationships rarely work out because trust is broken. How would she be able to trust Carmy again? Even if feelings are still there I would feel duped if I were her.Â
Thoughts?
this is just something i thought about and it could totally not be true, but after a rewatch, iâm starting to believe that carmy just FELT like he needed to be with claire because of how michael & richie (and steven & fakâŚ) were pushing it into him as a good thing he needed to have in his life in episode 6.
i mean he legit says that he wasnât in love with her, yet they are insistent about him needing to be with her because of some drawings he did way back when of her, âsheâs hot now,â and she helps people.
also when they âput in a good wordâ to her about all that he has done in the culinary world with copenhagen, new york, etc., i feel like that also added more to him feeling like he needed to pursue a romantic relationship with her.
then, add the fact that he wanted to yk âexplore funâ from the beginning of the season, he thought that jumping into this romantic relationship with claire would fulfill that and in turn, fix up his life for the better and help him heal from the trauma he dealt with growing up.
and i just realized this, twice in this season, we see carmy not wanting to reconnect with her (once, when he was responded with âwho told you to do that?â to michael & richie when they told her about his life. twice, when he gave her a fake phone number.)
yet, because he felt such an insistence from michael, richie, steven, fak (definitelyyy, fak more in the present because of how he gave claire his actual phone number without telling him at first), he decided to date her.
now, im not doubting that he had some feelings for claire, i just donât believe he was actually really into having a romantic relationship with her as much as she was interested in having one with him. some reasoning behind him getting into it was because he felt like he had to.
i have much more to add to this and to just talk about in general with stuff im starting to realize (such as how this is symbolic of him still clinging on to a toxic past and not actually doing some healing work for himself, etc. ) but it is currently around 4am for me.

Whatâs his eyes that blue for? đ
The images for the first two episodes of The Bear Season 2 are up.
Oh my god! Sheâs smiling at him!!!
thereâs so little discussion of carmyâs anger. everyone knows about richieâs temper and i like to think of carmy as a sad wet kicked puppy as much as the next person but he has so much deeply embedded rage and a real genuine capability of being mean. he rapidly built a successful career for himself in one of the most cutthroat and competitive industries purely out of spite, he resorts to yelling and takes it out on people when he loses his temper, heâs condescending to and dismissive of sydney on multiple occasions, he destroys marcusâ donut in frustration, his ego is bruised when sydney gets a good review for her risotto from an established critic which makes him resentful and he ends up blowing up at her for it. thereâs a lot more to him than just being sad and anxious and defeated; heâs also capable of being bitter and angry and ambitious and self absorbed and unfair. thereâs a lot of sympathy and romanticization of his character out there and iâm guilty of both at times as well but i feel like a lot of fanon interps out there are doing his character a disservice by choosing not to encompass all of his flaws because itâs really what makes him so unique and compelling and tragic as a character
Day 5 - Levity
Carmy and Richie fighting over the stupid hot dog one of my favourite scenes in the whole show I think
Aight all I can offer for now is this rushed art I did of Carmy and Peach 𤧠it's based of this artists template for the dynamic of ships they like
Carmen definitely has black cat energy, maybe more akin to something like a stray cat (saying that lovingly) but definitely is more cat boyfriend than dog boyfriend. Have to leave him alone and gain his trust and then heâll be curious about you, and then wonât leave you alone đĽ°đ
this is completely true, carmen is kinda stand-offish and reserved at first and he is horrible at replying and calling you back because letâs face it he doesnât really know how to communicate properly. but even after all that, all of that distance and reservations you force him to come out.
you drag him to a nice hole in the wall lunch spot, you take him for drinks, and then something just clicks in Carmen. Once he realises you arenât going to leave him stranded he completely opens himself to you, and donât try and tell me he wouldnât be the most clingy mf after đ this man is literally a toddler yall!
So why not a little drabble down below? A sneak peak if you will. itâs likes 200 worth of word vomit and thereâs allusion to smut to enjoy ;)
*
The busy streets of the farmers market spilled into the morning traffic, as Carmen rushes between crowds with two cups of coffee grasped against his chest.
They burned, really fucking bad, probably searing a third degree burn right under his pelvis but god did he not care, his legs ran with the wind behind them as he tried making it back to your shared apartment as quick as possible.
He had only left the warm bed where you lay 10 minutes ago, only after you had thought about âhow good a coffee would be snuggled up hereâ and Carmen had shouldered on a flimsy fleece jacket and his house slippers before racing out of the house to fulfill your request.
He didnât regret it now, but he could practically feel his skin itch with a desire to feel you against him again. There had been a celebratory dinner of sorts for the beef after it got recognised as Chicagoâs up and coming restaurant of the decade. Carmen couldnât wait till you both made it to your apartment and just took your right there in the backseat of his car that now stood stationary in the parking lot.
Carmen can still taste you on his tongue and now heâs grateful he took a much needed day off to spend it with you.
Opening the apartment door, the smell of melted butter and grease washes over Carmenâs senses. Flipping of his slippers, Carmen past the kitchen, where used dishes lay on the stove top and the ingredients for pancakes lay open.
âBaby? I got our coffee?â Carmen yells out, and when there is no answer a sweat begins to break on Carmenâs forehead.
âH-honey? You there!?â Carmen yells louder, looking through the living room before entering the bedroom with haste.
âIâm right here Carmy, itâs alrightâ The sweet saccharine melody of your voice pulls Carmen from whatever fear inducing nightmare he fell into.
Youâre here, back where your supposed to me. Wrapped around the covers that smelled of him.
âMade us pancakesâ You smile, the sun streaming in through the linen curtains so they dusted all over your gorgeous face.
If Carmen could shift his eyes away from you (which he canât) he would see the pretty tower of pancakes dripping with syrup and berries plated on the bedside table. Hell, if he saw how well done they were you feared the coffee might get thrown across the room and Carmen will drag you up to his face.
âGot us coffeeâ Carmen whispered, placing them to the side, forgotten as his mind was consumed with feeling you against him.
âJust get in here alreadyâ You giggle, before the sheets are thrown to the side and the warmth of Carmenâs body encapsulates you once again.
if you still write for carmen, would you mind writing something soft and sweet for him <3
omg anon i'm so sorry this was late đ i hope you can forgive me and i hope you like this!
warnings: language, mentions of cut skin and blood, mostly just carmy taking care of you :,)
âHoney, that knife is really fuckinâ sharp. Be careful, yeah?â Carmy warns from the sink.
You roll your eyes, pausing your cutting to look at Carmy pointedly.
âYes, Chef,â you say exaggeratedly, waving the knife around to punctuate your words. You appreciated his concern, really, but you could handle yourself.
