everyone giving up on masks is so fucking stupid, like it’s like if everyone was like huh, we’ve been wearing seatbelts for a while now and it’s really decreased the amount of injuries people have had in car crashes. let’s all stop wearing them now cause we can’t live in fear forever! no more seatbelts unless you really want one! Oh, you’re still wearing a seatbelt? Didn’t you know you don’t have to use those anymore? why are you being so paranoid?

the way people are like WELL IT DOESN’T DO ANYTHING IF YOU’RE NOT SICK as if that time where everyone was wearing masks and flu season was practically nonexistent didn’t happen. wearing my mask has absolutely drastically reduced the amount of times i get sick (pre pandemic i’d get sick about 4-6 times a year, and in the past three years i’ve gotten sick a TOTAL of like 4 times?) and at this point living in florida i’m basically the only person wearing a mask, it definitely has protected me lol.

 also it’s about it being a group effort anyway which is the main difference in my analogy, since seatbelts are only to protect the wearer while masks are to protect both the wearer and those around them. i am aware of that, i know it’s not a perfect analogy but like. if you look at the literal evidence from scientists and studies saying that masks drastically reduce spread of illnesses regardless of whether people are showing symptoms or not like…. it’s substantial lol

some people just wanna feel better about the fact that they’re killing disabled and immunocompromised people and don’t wanna be confronted with the reality of their actions, when it’s literally a piece of cloth like i got used to it very quickly and i have severe sensory issues so get over yourselves lol

In the simplest terms possible, we must rid the world of all hierarchy and authority, by any means necessary.

True democracy is not when leaders are elected, but when leaders are abolished. The people rule themselves and the people make the decisions.

If we had true democracy, we would already have solved our climate crisis. People would all have enough to eat and access to shelter, since workplaces would be run by the working class.

Fake democracy is falling to fascism. It’s time to have real democracy. Hopefully it can come about by peaceful constitutional change or by civil disobedience, but if not, we must be willing to fight for a better world.

i don’t know what else to say except that AI art is no longer simply a source of creativity or a wonder of human creation. it has become actively hostile and destructive toward the very thing it pretends to uplift and celebrate. it is void of any human element, any soul or ounce of emotion or self-expression. continuing to use AI art knowing that it comes from theft and robbing artists of their livelihood is disgusting. they need your support now more than ever. stop giving these thieves your money and admiration.

I as a 12 year old had the same capacity to consent to that treatment as a 12 year old trans kid would. no one batted an eye about me being on those hormones.

“but you have an intersex condition!!!” so is it that you don’t view the gender dysphoria many trans kids experience as a valid medical condition worthy of respect and treating the way professionals recommend? or is it that you don’t mind those weird intersex freaks taking things that will make us ‘more normal’? or perhaps both?

Hi, Tracy! Been an admirer of your work for years, and I wholeheartedly believe that Lackadaisy changed my life in some ways – so much so that I've picked my chosen name after one of your characters. I could go on for much longer about how much I appreciate your art and how it's impacted me, but I digress.

Recently, drawing hasn't been as fun as it used to be. It's not that i'm not proud of it, I really do like how it looks. But at this point it feels more of a chore. Instead of something I would do often whenever inspiration struck, it's something that I'll make myself do because it's the only skill that I've ever honed in this lifetime and I'll be damned if I let the only thing that I'm good at go to waste. That mindset isn't very good for a person, evidently.

In summary, I no longer find any joy in making art, and it's devastating. Are there any words of wisdom that you could possibly offer?

That it was perhaps in some way life-changing for you - well, that's quite a bit of knowledge to absorb. I'm very touched and honored to read that. However rough things are out there in the world now, I hope you are thriving…or at least doing pretty okay!

I'd say if you aren't beholden to anyone but yourself for the artwork, then set it aside for a time. It's okay to do that. The creative process is not just the act of sketching, the handiwork and rumination over a specific idea, the laboring over the drawing. It's also the space in-between where you are out exploring and experiencing the world in grand and in minute and intimate ways, running it through your unique filters, discovering the things - and the thoughts and feelings about those things - that inspire you to make art to begin with. Perhaps that's the phase you need to be in now.

Granted, embracing that may be easier said than done. We exist in a society that doesn't care to acknowledge the need for ebb and flow. We're all conditioned to affix our sense of value and identity to being being ceaselessly productive. Needing to step back and rest is treated like some kind of moral failing. Even when some outside party isn’t judging us, we are judging ourselves in this way. It's ridiculous, but it's something I struggle with too. It might require a concerted and conscientious effort to go out and play, but I'd say that's probably what you ought to do if you can. The impulse and inspiration will tend to return. Just take a moment to stoke the embers.

Reasons to watch Del Toro's Pinocchio

Its stop motion

The stop motion was done by people who worked on The Adventures of Mark Twain

Its Guillermo Del Toro's passion project that he's been trying to have made for over a decade

It was co-written by Patrick Mchale who made Over The Garden Wall

The designs of not just Pinocchio but the Blue Fairy, the humans and the sets are incredible

The entire score was done in wood instruments

It satirizes propaganda and how it is used to manipulate impressionable minds

Its pretty fucking anti-war

It tackles themes of loss, death, war & abuse

It does not fuck around when it comes to mature subjects

We need more support for stop motion films, its a great animation style and has so much potential that we hardly ever see

So I'm sure almost everyone knows about the porn bot problem by now, so here's a post detailing why it's a problem, and what we need to do about it.

First off, yes, always block the porn bots. Don't be mislead into thinking they're ok to keep around because they 'inflate your follower count.'

Firstly, no one cares about, nor can anyone even see, your follower count. Be free from the shackles that are the bullshit other socials told you was important. Don't let your ego be tied to a number. Having a lot of followers won't earn you any clout here.

Secondly, bots only follow blogs to try and legitimize their malware (and other dodgy) links. This post goes into more detail about that.

Now that that's out of the way, you'll need to know how to recognize a porn bot. This round the template seems to be:

A profile photo of a pretty lady or guy, usually in their underwear, with a similar header photo.

A bio with some combination of: [Age] // [Name] // [Location] // [Emoji] // [Top Bullshit% OnlyFans]

URL consisting of a name followed by a number (i.e: firstlast999)

Typically an empty blog, or if there is content, it's all dodgy links. Visible, but empty, Likes Tab, & occasionally a visible Following Tab.

You likely recognize the pattern.

So, what you want to do is, first, report the blog as spam On mobile it'll look like this:

On mobile you'll need to report spam first, and then go back to the menu again to block.

On desktop it will look like this, and unlike mobile, you'll be able to report spam and block in the same motion:

If I remember correctly,* be sure to "Report Spam", not "Report sexually explicit material" to feed the bots to the proper channels. Because the blog is empty, they haven't posted anything explicit that would violate TOS. However, staff can recognize a bot, and if you report the blog for spam (the actual problem) they'll take a look, more than likely find that the blog is posting or DMing dodgy links, and dispose of it.

[UPDATE: It was suggested on another post that the bots track your IP if you click on them to send more your way. However, someone from staff corrected and said this is incorrect. They also corrected the 'guilt by association' myth that bots following you can get your blog flagged by tumblr.

That said, that trail all led to another, easier, way to report/block the bots all from your Follower Tab instead of visiting each blog separately, unfortunately it only works on desktop:

(For newbies, click on the little person icon at the top right of your screen and scroll to find the Followers tab under the blog/sideblog you need to block a pornbot from.)

*I remember this information from a blog that used to be all about taking down the pornbots. Unfortunately I do not know if that blog is still active, nor can I remember the URL. If anyone knows what blog I'm referring to, and/or if they're still active, please feel free to tag them so others can follow them for more tips!

today my wisdom is: the ecological crisis of our planet is not a thing that will Suddenly destroy us sometime in the next century—it has taken decades of continuous work for our biosphere to be preserved thus far, and it will take decades more of continuous work to continue preserving it.

The apocalypse is not a single event hovering in the future bearing down on us while we sit helplessly. We are at least 150 years into an ongoing "apocalypse."

Things will continue to steadily get worse without steady action, but "augh! it's already too late to stop climate change and mass extinctions!" is specifically the worst response
