”The Monsters We Are”

Since this is lowkey becoming my art account I wanted to share a physical piece I did about a year and a half ago. I titled it “The Monsters We Are” as HEY I’m a Carrie apologist, but also this work was made from a place of processing my highschool exprience. I'll let my artist statment that I wrote back then explain the rest.

“The Monsters We Are” by -Redacted-. My magnum opus, originally what started out as a self-portrait evolved into Carrie. I poured months of work into this piece, partially to make the best painting I’ve ever created, but also to help understand my high-school experience. High school has held some of the best times of my life, yet great losses key to my development. At times the best way I could manage to describe my emotional state was to imagine I was Carrie White, so happy I could cry, yet little did I know I was seconds away from having a bucket of blood dumped on my head.

I know its a bit different from what I normally post (brain worms), but I hope yall appreciate it :)
