The funny thing is, Shige is probably the closest to a feminist out of all Japanese male celebrities I know. I just want to add for those who don’t know this segment wasn’t his idea, he was investigating a complaint of a male student in his 20′s who said he didn’t like women become more muscled and urged the show to “do something about it”. Shige pretty much just played along with it to convey the female point of view. After the first woman’s reply he was like “So she basically means ‘I’m not doing this for you, jerk!’”. So I’m sure he gets it, but he did this so other men get it too. Not saying he wasn’t intimidated though because he sure was but I think he really managed to struck a fine balance between being respectful and entertaining.
