admittedly, cameron was still curious as to why veronica had been acting so weird when they were texting. he wasn’t sure why, maybe it was because he was a little worried. a small sigh left his lips as he ran his fingers through his hair. he was probably just overthinking and should let it go. his phone buzzed and he looked down at it to see veronica notifying him that she was here. before he knew it, she was already walking up to him and greeting him. “hey ronnie,” he greeted with a smile. “you kinda sucked at entertaining me, by the way. but i’m a man of my word, so i’ll take you out for lunch still,” he teased, before beginning to walk. “come on, my car’s parked nearby… and do you still want udon, or something else?”

          OF  COURSE  THE  FIRST  THING  ato  does  ,  is  grab  marisol’s  hand  when  it’s  reaching  out  for  him.  not  just  because  he  would  give  her  pretty  much  everything  this  world  can  offer  ,  but  also  because  he  needs  something  to  keep  him  grounded  when  he  takes  a  seat  at  this  table.  because  this  is  marisol’s  family  ,  who  is  oh-so  familiar  with  ato  already  ——  this  is  the  family  who  absolutely  despises  muggle-borns  ,  let  alone  accept  their  daughter  to  date  a  muggle-born  wizard.  

          he  finds  himself  greeting  every  single  person  at  the  table  however  ,  often  not  getting  a  reply  back  and  just  a  mere  glare.  he  wants  to  disappear  already  ,  but  he’s  missed  marisol  and  would  do  anything  to  stay  by  her  side  tonight  and  for  the  rest  of  his  life.  ‘’  ah  ——  ’’  ato  leans  over  to  whisper  in  marisol’s  ear  ,  ‘’  looks  like  they  didn’t  expect  me  to  be  the  date.  you  didn’t  tell  them  ?  ’’  there’s  a  brief  pause  ,  giving  him  time  to  realize  some  things  by  merely  being  here.  ‘’  i’ll  be  safe  as  long  as  i  stay  by  your  side  ,  right  ?  ’’

     M A R I S O L  M E R E L Y  S M I L E S  at him in an attempt to calm his nerves down  ——   and maybe also hers .  “ i mentioned it a couple times ,  but you know how my parents are ;  they tend to forget information that doesn’t involve their business or my job . ”  marisol sighs and squeezes the taller boy’s hand in reassurance .  “  you know damn well if anyone tries anything with you here ,  i could call the guards and my parents will have them thrown out in a second . ”  even if her parents disapprove of ato ,  if mari asks for someone to be thrown out because they disrespected him ,  then they’ll throw them out .  marisol is the golden child after all ,  never mind the fact that she’s the only child —— whatever she wants ,  she gets.  she’s done everything to make her parents proud .  they can’t be mad at her for wanting to be selfish for once in her life ,  right ?  besides ,  they should be proud that she scored someone like ato .  he’s everything they could ever want in a wizard .       “ i’m sorry they’re such dicks here , ”  mari pouted ,  turning away from the rest of the table to face ato .  “ i can yell at everyone to be nicer . “  and she would ,  no questions asked .  she’d do just about anything for him with no questions asked ,  but she continuously holds herself back from doing so .  he’s here as your ‘friend-date’ ,  she thinks to herself ,  he’s just your friend now .  you two are no longer together .  her heart sinks at the thought but she reminds herself that this is for the best .  don’t let people outside of the trusted circle know how much he means to you .  it’ll keep him safe . she shakes the thoughts out of her head . “ or if you want ,  we can go somewhere more secluded ?  just the two of us with no judgy eyes . ”  she forces out a dimpled smile ,  ignoring the tugging at her heart .
