So we're all moved into our new place, and I went to move the GIANT box of yarn to its new home in its organizer, and this happens...
At first I was mad... then I thought... rare opportunity...
I felt like the Scrooge McDuck of the craft world :p
“Nobody tells this to people who are beginners, I wish someone told me. All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase, they quit. Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. We know our work doesn’t have this special thing that we want it to have. We all go through this. And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase, you gotta know its normal and the most important thing you can do is do a lot of work. Put yourself on a deadline so that every week you will finish one story. It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions. And I took longer to figure out how to do this than anyone I’ve ever met. It’s gonna take awhile. It’s normal to take awhile. You’ve just gotta fight your way through.”

Love this quote. I think it definitely applies to me and my work. I think I'm still working toward the place where my taste matches my craftsmanship, but I'm getting there :)
Finished thie little cutie the other day! :)
A Market bag that collapses into itself! This pattern came out really cute. I'm working on another with the same style of mesh, but not collapsible so I can make it bigger without having to use so much yarn by making two bottom circles.
I'm hoping to make at least one more after the current one I'm making, and also some small pouches, spring-y handwarmers, and a sunglasses case or two, which will hopefully be able to be sold in a local shop! w00t! I met the owner and she really likes my stuff, so when I have a few items done I'll be bringing it by and hopefully have it available in the store! SO EXCITING!!
Wish me luck :)
HELLO NEW FOLLOWERS!!! :D
Here’s a hug!
lol This was supposed to go HERE! Hello Peachy Keen friends :)
Spring Sale in my shop! Gotta get this winter stuff outta here! 40% off winter wear. A great chance to stock up on Christmas gifts at a great price, or perhaps its always cold where you live and this is just a good deal :p Anyway check out the items!
HAHA! Crocheters…you know this song would make you think this after a long day of projects!
I laughed :p
New Items added to my store!! :D
Long time no blog!
Hey friends and followers :)
Sorry I've been MIA from the crochet world. With the hours at my 2 jobs, my crochet time has been seriously compromised. Working on small things here and there, but with spring coming I'm struggling to find projects that can work well in the spring/summer.
I'm currently pretty sick with a chest and head cold. worst.cough.ever. So I'm home resting, and thankfully can get back to the work I really love.
So what am I working on now? A monokini :p It's hot pink and is gonna be awesome. I may have to tweak the pattern to fit me, so it will be interesting, but at least I can have summer on the mind.
What are some of your favorite things to make for summer?
good to know!!
All work and no crochet makes Jona a crazy girl...
Store woes..
So I got an e-mail from storenvy saying they had to disable my store because my paypal account was still a personal account and apparently that doesn't work as well for people trying to buy my stuff.
*sigh*
That's all fine and dandy, I understand. But with 3 call ins at work next week, I could be working everyday and have no time to take care of it as soon as I'd like... blah.
So sorry to anyone who might have wanted to buy something from my store... you'll have to wait a week or so!
30 Day Crochet Challenge (/Catch-Up) haha Days 16, 17, & 18.
Day 16: Have you ever had a crocheting related injury?
Well, I don't know if I'd call it an injury, since it didn't really hurt. But a few months ago I realized that underneath my middle finger on my left hand had this little, idunno.. 'nub', I guess underneath the skin. It was right in the joint, and didn't really hurt unless I messed with it. It felt like a cyst, or calcium deposit or something.
The reason I think it was crochet related is that it was right around Christmas, when I was crocheting more than I normally was, and that is the finger i use to hold my yarn, so it uses repetitive movement a lot.
ok thats it... Booooring. haha
Day 17: Have you ever had a project that you loved become ruined? What’s the story behind it?
I have not! I'm a lucky girl :p
Day 18: What are your preferred hooks made from (metal, steel, bamboo, wood, plastic)?
I really like the metal ones. I haven't spent a lot of money on good hooks. There is a brand of hook that is an ergonomic shape for your hand that I really want to try... but they are like 14 bucks a piece. Until Peachy Keen gets a little bigger, I'll have to use the basic metal ones, which is fine with me :)
Truer words.
legit.
New Item Up In My Store!!!
Hey! I just added my first custom order item to my store! Go check it out and, maybe...idunno... get a pair for yourself ;)
CHECK EM OUT!!
Does anyone have some advice on how best to attach the thumb of a mitten to the hand? I've done one just using a yarn needle connecting the outer stitch of each piece, but it isn't as smooth as I'd like it. I might undo it and re-try if I can find a trick that works. Anyone wanna share some ideas?
30 Day Crochet Challenge! Days 13. 14, and 15 :D
Hey friends!! :) Here's the most recent catching up of my 30 day challenge!
Day 13: Do you have yarn that you love but can’t find a project for?
I love all my yarn, lets be honest... lol But I just got this gorgeous purple the other day, and I'm not sure what I'll do with it.
This picture is awful, but its a really great jewel tone purple. I love this yarn because it'e like all the fibers are wound together in one big strand, instead of multiple like in most yarn. I did my Tiny Puff Cowl in this type of yarn. I'm sure I'll find something cool to make :)
Day 14: What’s the worst yarn/fiber that you’ve worked with and why?
Probably this sock yarn I have... I like the colors, but it worked up sooooooo sloooowwww haha.
Maybe I'll use it more for amigurumi projects.
Day 15: What was your least favorite pattern and why?
This is hard, because usually if I don't like a pattern as I go along, I'll stop, unravel, and find a better one. hahah SO I guess I don't really have one, because of that reason.
