someone on twitter had the idea to donate to dding dong in jonghyuns name, a korean organization helping out at-risk lgbt youth in korea. they provide food, community, activities, counseling, prevention, medical care and more and they want to raise enough money to become a full time shelter. i think he would have loved the idea. so if you feel like it, here’s the link:

what hurts the most is that we fans knew but we didn’t know at the same time

we knew he was depressed and mentally ill but we didn’t know he felt this isolated, this empty, and this tortured

we knew about it but we didn’t know the extent of it

i wish we could have helped him somehow

we would never blame you you really did work hard and you did very well you withstood so much, you did your best you went trough a lot you will be remembered in the brightest light i hope you rest well and are finally at peace, jonghyun. until we meet again.

some tips to get through the next few days

drink water crying gets you dehydrated so keep drinking water

do breathing exercises it will help you calm down

take naps/sleep emotions are exhausting, it’s okay to sleep a little to recover

run cold water over your wrists this is especially good if you’re trying not to cry, it will calm you down 

eat don’t eat big meals if you’re not up for it but please eat small amounts 

get comfort food don’t feel guilty about it

take a bath/shower it’ll help you feel refreshed 

cry it’s the best way to relieve some stress so it’s okay to cry as much as possible

talk to shawols, family members, friends, you need their support and it’s okay to ask for it

be easy on yourself it’s normal you don’t feel up to certain tasks or activities, don’t punish yourself and just accept that

He fought for the rights of lgbt, for mental health awareness, against the mistreatment of minorities in korea, he spoke out against gender conformity, he was open about his struggle with depression, he worked so hard….and I’m so proud of him. I’m proud to say he was my idol…we have to continue what he started we have to keep fighting for rights and to raise awareness of mental health we have to do better for him…. You did well Kim Jonghyun we are all so proud of you.

i think the most important thing from jonghyun’s death is to not let all the positive progression he strived for be undermined. he started so many conversations about mental health awareness and gave a voice to those who didn’t have one. jonghyun was rooting for everyone, he wanted everyone to know it is possible to make it through and be strong. just because he lost the fight, it does not mean what he said wasnt true. don’t let everything he fought so hard for be for nothing
