OP, been completely real. Anything that is not a tiktok doesn't even have subtitles like straight-up only auto-generated close captions and the bad auto dubbing. I do think it would be cool if they did more stuff with they Thai fans. But honestly, if Alex is not pushing for it, like how Fanco or Carlos push for stuff for their home fans, it will probably probably not happen.

I get what you mean, and it's a fair observation. But you do need to understand that if Alex isn't fluent, chances are he isn't going to be pushing Carlos to learn Thai they way Carlos is pushing Alex to learn Spanish. You aren't going to get that organic push from Alex in that way. There isn't going to be any moments where Alex does the equivalent of Carlos asking him to say something for Checo if Alex doesn't speak fluently.

Also, just this year alone, there are 3 grand prix in countries that the main language is Spanish plus another 3 in the US where a good chunk of the population is able to speak Spanish. But for Thai fans, what can you really do? Like what kind of content can the admins do if Alex isn't the one pushing for it. Maybe Lunar New Year's post, although I feel like they probably try to target the Chinese fans instead tbh.

I don’t actually disagree with you for the most part. When I’m talking about content i dont actually mean them filming separate videos where they’re talking in Thai or whatever (although hellos and goodbyes are probably within their ability- he isn’t fluent but he can speak some).

I meant that they should hire a bilingual Thai speaker to make sure their videos all have captions [frankly, as someone who has a disability that requires captions as an accessibility aid, I’m disappointed in the frequent lack of correct English captions on their content but that’s beside the point] and to put correct translations for the text in their posts. Instagram’s auto translate isn’t great. Alex either knows enough Thai or has someone who helps him have a fair amount of his posts be in both languages. Williams can do that with their own media team. It doesn’t even need to be all of the posts and articles. Just the ones with Alex where there’s enough text on them to warrant a translation. And I wasn’t even suggesting that they do what they do with Spanish and have some posts just in Thai because again I respect that there are many more Spanish speakers than Thai speakers.

It’s cool that Carlos and Franco are advocating for media stuff like that, however, for me, that is beside the point. They shouldn’t have to be doing that. In my opinion, it is not their job to do that (im sure that it is, but it should not be). If the teams are going to accept money from fans and sponsors coming from different languages tied to the driver’s country they drive for, they should hire one single translator to translate posts and articles about that driver. It genuinely would not be that hard for them to get a translator and have that person suggest like 1 or 2 Thai related TikToks a year. He rated Italian food for a TikTok and he’s not Italian as far as I know. It is a bummer that they don’t yet race in Thailand, but I feel like the answer of well they don’t race there so who cares is lazy work on williams part.

I will also say, as a side note, im not really sure we can comment on whether Alex is pushing for this or not. I don’t personally know him and haven’t heard him talking about it. It’s possible he is. It’s possible he isn’t.

Anyway, like I said, i do agree that it makes sense that the majority of their posts in other languages are in Spanish. No issue there. I just (1) dont think it’s any of the drivers job to force their teams to make their team media accessible to their fans and (2) dont think it would be difficult to have bilingual captioning in Thai for more of Alex related posts. Maybe that person could also be in charge of making sure they have valid English captions for videos too.

Genuinely all of the teams should be doing this for their drivers. Also, F1 needs to be thinking about this as well. The grill the grid video where they had the drivers name car parts but those who spoke English secondarily couldnt get points for naming it in their own language drove me absolutely crazy. They could have had the drivers say it in whatever language they know and then later when editing the video see if the answers are close enough. I think for a gagillion dollar industry that drives in many continents with drivers from many continents that they could all do a little bit better both for the drivers and for the fans.

We both agree that Williams should 1000% do more that they are already doing. I just dont think they will. I hope I'm wrong, but from everything I see, I just don't they will.

I honestly think that a good start would be just transcribing and translating their videos. But given the size of the team and budget cap things, I just dont think they will ever see it as worth it to invest in such a small fan group even if effort would 100% be appreciated by those fans.

As for the Alex of it all, maybe I was a bit too harsh because I, as a Spanish speaker, get the benefit of seeing and hearing all of the effort from the Spanish speaker put into the inclusion and best interests of their home fans which I dont with really see with Alex, all i really see of him is occasionally putting a thai translation in his insta post. Like I get the benefit of hearing and seeing Franco advocating for his fans when it comes to merch, I get to see him talking with Argentinian media on the paddock, which i dont think i have ever seen on anywhere Alex do (doesn't mean it doesn't exist i just haven't seen it everywhere).

Honestly, I do agree with you that everyone in F1 should do more. I would love if they did the thing the premier league does where they have all of the players say their name just so people know how to say the drivers names ( I still remember all the stuff arround Zhou). I think this situation is very difficult. On one hand, I hav nothing against Carlos. However, we have to remember that Ferrari replaced him for someone they thought is better.

I don't really see why tge other drivers would be jealous of him. He only won his first race after he joined Ferrari, he switches teams very often and he is not world champion.

This is no hate against him, I just don't see why they would be jealous of him. Also the thing with Lando is really interesting. Obviously, they get along well, why say such things then. For me, I always thought Charlos is better then Carlando, but Loscar is better then Carlando (Lestappen on top😉).

I believer there is some truth that his girlfriend probably said some things to encourage and motivate him. But without a video, it's very hard to know if that was really ever said.

I have nothing against Rebecca. I haven't heard or read anything bad about her. But to be honest, I also never find any gossip about the private life's of drivers and their partners.

This is from ESPN Argentina, at large is Carlos going on about the fact that as much as he RESPECTS and has a GOOD RELATIONSHIP with drivers like Lando and Charles he cannot bring himself as far as to call them friends because he sees been rivals in F1 as obstacles to actual friendship. He also EXPLICITLY said that he would love to actually become friends with them after F1.

The second part about Rebecca saying people are jealous I'm convinced it doesn't exist. Couldn't find it on TikTok or even in headlines. I'm assuming that it was an offhanded joke that this type of people are unable to read the queues to.

The moment something like that would come out, especially with Carlos saying he has no friends in F1, that Lando was never his friend, and even dragging Rebecca into it, the entire paddock and fanbase would be talking about it instantly. That’s headline worthy stuff. But guess what? No one’s heard a thing. This is clearly made up.

But I do think your concern is a bit unfounded, or at least from my experience. Since a lot of peeps get that the duo name is going to be monitored by the two people involved and the admin to, so they won't post rpf there. Now I do see a lot of peeps being new to fandom in general joining f1, so maybe you got a point since those people don't know how to tag.
