thank you for the ask, i really enjoyed thinking about this! this got long so i'm tossing it under a readmore. summary is maybe
so the vibe i get from the start of this song is like, teenagers running away together and then it turns out there's an age gap but the relationship worked on pretending there wasn't/that it's whatever. and it veers into like, innocence, her being ashamed. also the whole time there is an undertone of love from her side which turns into something else because breakup
and that's not my vibe with gem/skizz. it'd be age gap and getting off on that. like gem would know what she'd be getting into and be intentional in that way because it'd be the thrilling part. she would not see herself as innocent (or all that young for that matter) even if she might act like it to get skizz. from her side it'd be about being so desirable that skizz gets with her despite his better judgement. wait someone said this better than me let me find my notes.
"the guy who knows better but can't resist" basically is what gem would get out of it. because she'd have that self confidence and would want more of it through being wanted like that. from her perspective, skizz should be the one ashamed because he'd be meant to be responsible, both because he's older and because he's the man, he should restrain himself
note that nothing about that would be about love for gem. it'd be her body and the effort she puts into her appearance being recognized and wanted
and then for skizz's side it'd be something else. for the more consensual stuff it'd be saying yes to that hottie in front of him because he wouldn't have those moral qualms that gem would be projecting on him. he'd see a willing attractive female friend and he'd go for it because why not? everyone back home would never find out and if they did he could always come up with an excuse. (not that gem would bring them up. impulse might, and get a dismissive reply.) and for him it'd also feel good to be desired by someone out who he'd thought was out of his league ages ago. and who'd have so many better options - someone free of other obligations like etho or a proper guy her age like grian
i think i've written skizz with moral qualms before to lean more into the gem perspective of the fantasy. because being responsible/grown is kind of the persona he seems to lean into on stream. though i'd also consider it clear that that is not everything, with impulse's mentions of how like, manager skizz can be scary etc. so there can be something else beneath that facade that might come out in a personal relationship like that
speaking of that, for the less consensual stuff for skizz it'd be more about taking what is right there in front of him. it'd be about conquering someone who is feisty and wouldn't just let anyone near her. gem couldn't exactly make a scene in public when his hand lingers (she'd be way too anxious). and she would keep rolling her eyes at him as he'd test boundary after boundary. and if she would say something, nobody would believe her because of that facade of the good guy he'd curate. if he'd even think about the consequences and not just with his dick that'd see woman and tits and hear her laugh and see her tell off some creepy fan and would know that he could get closer to her than those idiots ever could, that he could have what she guards so well
but then also, the song doesn't have to match what a relationship could be like. it could be the song that gem would listen to when she'd mourn a missed opportunity, when yet again nothing happened at a meetup although she saw how skizz looked at her tits in that one dress. because regretting "what i had" and "what i could have had" aren't all that far apart, are they?
For me the vibe I got from this song was someone looking back at a friends-with-benefits kind of situation, where the singer doesn't regret their relationship but rather how the fallout soured their friendship. I also think Gem values Skizz emotionally; it's why they're good friends even before their affair began. And that fits with my interpretation of Gem for her and Skizz (because I think Skizz's guilt would eventually shatter their dynamic beyond repair). It reminds me of them but more in vibe and longing rather than in exact story, y'know?
A part that sticks out to me is the image of Skizz saying "if we had been closer in age maybe it would have been fine" to Gem and her just feeling sick at the thought. That plus the parallels between the MV (a young girl dating an older guy and feeling a bit out of place but convincing herself it's fine) just feels like Gemskizz to me. I think something would have to sour their relationship before Gem begins to associate this song with Skizz, though
the best kind of rpf is rpf where the figures in the fanfiction read rpf about themselves. it’s always Always soooo entertaining. BONUS POINTS if the figures in the fic use fan media to realise they’re in love with the other figure in the fic. rpfers get on it. i love that shit so bad
