“My mother said to us one morning, ‘Carl, you put on your shoes, and Oscar, you put on your prosthetic legs.’ And that was the last we heard of it. I didn’t grow up thinking I had a disability, I grew up thinking I had different shoes.” - Oscar Pistorious
"Come now, let us argue this out", says the Lord. "No matter how deep the stains of your sins, I can remove it. I can make you as clean as freshly fallen snow. Even if you are stained as red as crimson, I can make you as white as wool. If you will only obey me and let me help you, then you will have plenty to eat...
Isaiah 1:18-19
Keep hope alive
When something is missing, when something is stolen, the devil distorts the mind, to admit that all is lost. All is not lost, when God’s on the throne, for Christ is sufficient, and more than enough. He would restore your fortunes, like that of Zion, you’ll return rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves. Just draw strength from God, encourage yourself with His word. Pursue and overtake, recover everything the enemy has stolen. All is not lost, if you keep hope alive, for there’s this hope that never fails: Christ in ‘you’, the hope of glory.
Stars foretell the future, and can be used to preview destinies. The Magi said of Jesus, “where is the new born king … we have seen his star as it arose”. They were so confident and convinced of their discovery that they came from afar to worship. It is a general belief that special stars appear at the birth and death of great people. Maybe one appeared when you were born. And maybe like Jesus, some people saw your star? Maybe they also came to your naming ceremony to worship, or to kill? For Joseph brothers saw the ‘king’ in Joseph’s star when he narrated his dreams and they tried to kill it. Destinies, like stars, comes in sizes with different glories, meant to shine at set times. But the enemy, like astronomers, can preview the future and attempt to delay or destroy it. The good news is that for every glory, there is a covering (protection) – Isaiah 4:5b. However, we must learn from Jesus’ and Joseph’s examples. Like Jesus, we may need to flee to escape Herod, and unlike Joesph, learn to keep our mouths shut. The God that kept Joseph and Moses is still alive to keep you alive to fulfill your purpose. Therefore Arise! Shine! For your like is available.
No crown on my head, no sceptre in my hand... I sit on no throne, and often I'm alone, command no brigade... but here is a word I hold on to: There's a king inside of me, He's the man you cannot see...God's word will set him free... All hail the king is coming.
Donnie McClurkin, Bishop T.D Jakes
Nothingness, Nothingless
Hope is an expectation mandate on the future; it’s an anchor to the soul. There is absolutely no reason to live if there is nothing exciting to look forward to. Hope makes a man endure whatever is going wrong today, by promising that something good will happen tomorrow. Every hope has a basis, a premise upon which it is built. But I would discuss the extremes: nothingness, and nothing less. Hope built on nothing less than Jesus is on the solid rock; Hope built on anything else is on sinking sand, nothingness. Abraham, against hope, hoped to become the father of nations and he was not put to shame, for his hoped was premised on the promise of God. And God cannot lie or repent. Hope is expectation, and expectations based on the right premises would not be cut short but delivered. Love is the greatest and Faith is the key, but Hope is the link in-between.
Is it possible that any man can fast forty days and forty nights?
"When you take abode in any paticular city, you must live according to its customs. Moses ascended to heaven where they neither eat nor drink therefore he became assimilated to them. We are accustomed to eat and drink; and when angels descend to us, they eat and drink also. Moses, Elijah and our Lord Jesus could fast forty days and forty nights, because they were in communion with God, and living a heavenly life." -Rabbi Meir
Don't dance to that disco...
Disco is a style of pop music with a steady but heavily emphasized beat. This upbeat, happy-go-lucky genre is suitable for dancing. There is however this downbeat disco with a gloomy groove, that is slow, dull and depressive. No matter how good you are at dancing, you'll surely miss your steps if you dare to move to the beat. It's perhaps the oldest 'disco', yet people still dance to it even today. It's called DISCOuragement. Discouragement is an inward feeling and suggestion to give in and give up. It's an emotional signal usually triggered by something going 'wrong' on the outside, and designed to paralyse desire, determination and drive from the inside. There are different agents of discouragement, all with the singular objective of making you to 'lose the battle outside, from the inside'. Don't dance to the beat! Cover your ears and close your eyes; don't allow whatever is going on around you introduce this disco to your rythm. Remember, whatever is seen is temporal. Walk by faith, not by sight. Believe God's good report. Encourage youself in the Lord. Sing psalms. God will work out everything for good, for you. Amen
I saw that simplicity of intention and purity of affection-- one design in all we speak and do, and one desire ruling all our tempers-- are indeed the wings of the soul without which she can never ascend to God.... Every part of my life must either be a sacrifice to God or myself, that is, the devil.
John Wesley
See me through, Lord Jesus, see me through 2x there's a race I must run, there's a victory to be won, give me power, every hour, to be through.
Where God's finger points, His hand will make the way.

I believe!
When you stay so long in prison (darkness, pain, distress, trouble...), some things that were once clear and definite may become dim and shaky. John the Baptist said to Jesus, are you the one we're expecting or should we wait for another? This was the same John that recognised Jesus without any signal, testified to Him as the Messiah, and witnessed His divine confirmation. Trials may lead to questions but blessed are those who don't doubt (Matthew 11). Happy is the man that has no reason to doubt what He once endorsed. Jesus, I believe in you, help my unbelief.
I come by the blood, the blood of Jesus, Not by my qualifications, not by works, Not by my righteousness, not by strength. My righteousness is like filthy rags, by strength shall no man prevail, Not with grumbling, not with complaints, I come with supplications and requests.
I come for mercy; Let mercy prevail over judgement. Choose me as the object of your love, Smile at me my Father. For it is not to those who do ‘runs’, nor those who sweat, But by your tender mercies and compassion; let favours reply my labours. Let your blood speak on my behalf, better things to my life: Better results, better relationships, better jobs, better me, better ‘every’. Not just because the present is not good enough, But because there is more with you.
I come through Jesus Christ, the name above all names, I enter through the righteousness of Christ; I enter into better things, I break forth into greatness, I enter into institutions, I break forth into high places, I enter into government, I enter into Multination, I enter into ... Lift up you heads, every gates, Open up, coded doors, Grant the heir of glory access, for the King of Glory, God Almighty, is my ‘Dada’.
As the story goes, a little piece of wood once bitterly complained because its owner kept whittling away at it, gouging it and making holes in it. But the one who was cutting it paid no attention to the stick's protests. He was making a flute out of that piece of ebony, and he was too wise to stop when the wood complained. The man said, "Little piece of wood, without these rifts and holes, and all this cutting, you'd be just a stick forever--a useless piece of ebony. What I am doing now may seem as if I am destroying you, but instead it will change you into a flute. Your sweet music will charm the souls of many and comfort sorrowing hearts."

The Bible is meant to be bread for daily use, not cake for special occasions. "Every beliver should wreck a copy of the Bible every ten years." In other words, we should use our Bibles so much that they gradually wear out. This saying is true: "A bible that's falling apart is usually owned by someone that isn't." All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the truth, rebuking error, correcting faults, and giving instruction for right living, so that the person who serves God may be fully qualified and equipped to do every kind of good deed. 2 Tim.3:16-17 Adapted from 'Our Daily Bread'.
