China has shown 14 giant panda cubs to the public for the first time at the Chengdu Breeding and Research Base in Sichuan. All were bred artificially at the centre in Sichuan, a mountainous province with dense forests, which is home to most of the world’s panda population. They remain one of the world’s endangered animals with roughly in captivity throughout the world, and fewer than 1,600 living in the wild in China.
