My Secret, My Everything - Diavolo x Female!MC Part 3
Summary: What started off as two friends awkwardly texting back and forth blossomed into a beautiful romance that no one can ever know of. Spoilers up to lesson 21.
MC's name is Yuiko.
Part One | Part Two | Part Three
A couple of days had gone by since Yuiko’s impromptu shopping trip with Diavolo and subsequent grocery store run. Just as anticipated, her tardiness to dinner did cause quite the stir within the House of Lamentation. The brother’s flocked to her like seagulls to a stray piece of food on a beach. There were tons of questions.
“Where’ve you been?!”
“Ohhh is that a new outfit?? Cute! But you went shopping without me? Rude…”
“Did you go grocery shopping too?”
“I smell food…”
“Who were you with? Don’t tell me you went out alone!!”
And she answered most of their questions over tea and a light snack. Because like the perfect gentleman he is, Diavolo didn’t dare send her home without a proper meal. So, they stopped at Hell’s Kitchen and grabbed a bite to eat before he sent her on her way via a trusted Akuber driver.
Of course, she neglected to mention who she was with. After all, it’s supposed to be a secret that’s not really a secret. Namely because Barbatos knows all and sees all. And because Lucifer may catch onto her sooner or later. Either way, the bulk of the brothers along with much of RAD just can’t know what she and Diavolo have going on!
Which, now that she’s in the comfort of her room, staring at the dark ceiling while lying in bed, she can’t help but wonder…
”What’s really going on between us…?” On the surface, between her and him, it’s exactly as it sounds. She’s the fun friend, the person he does things with that he can’t really do with anyone else. Below the surface…? She isn’t so sure…
New Message!
From: Diavolo
>Have you ever heard of AkuDonald’s
>It’s a fast-food chain that Lucifer told me about a while ago.
>I’ve always wanted to try it, but I could never find an opportunity.
>Yet now that I finally have the time, Lucifer is unavailable.
>If you know the place, would you mind taking me there?
Once again, Yuiko finds herself rightfully baffled at the sheer amount of experiences Diavolo is lacking in. He’s never been to AkuDonald’s? The devildom equivalent to arguably the most common fast-food chain in the human world? The same chain that’s like on every corner? How?!
>I know the place.
Of course, she did! Even during her one-year stint, she’d been more than a handful of times. It was a great place for group study sessions, quick and tasteless meals, and the occasional AkuFlurry, if the ice cream machine was working.
New Message!
From: Diavolo
>Sticker sent
>I’ll be over shortly.
>I’m quite excited to visit AkuDonald’s, but it’s also a treat to spend some time with you.
>I’ll see you later, Yuiko.
>Sticker sent
Yuiko was ready to put her D.D.D. away after glancing at the first couple replies to come through. Then she read the third one, the longer one, and found herself unable to put it down. Was he…flirting with her? No no no, he’s just being nice! Yeah, Diavolo is super nice so that’s all this is. He values friendship a lot so she shouldn’t read into his message. It has no deeper meaning to it!
Right…?
Later came rather suddenly, much quicker than she anticipated and before she knew it, Diavolo was waving her down outside the gates of RAD. A small return wave was sent his way as she bounded toward him, making sure not to draw too much attention to herself, lest some bystanders stare longer than necessary. Then again, being one of two humans in the Devildom does put something of a neon target on her back. Hanging out with Diavolo certainly doesn’t make that any better.
‘Ah whatever. It’s fine. After all, we’re both on the Student Council so us meeting up after school isn’t strange at all.’ Is what she told herself as she smiled up at the male who gestured for them to embark on a much-anticipated journey to the local fast food joint.
“Uh…maybe we should step out of line. You know, so you can decide what you want to order?” She should’ve known he would have trouble deciding but goodness gracious, they’d been standing in line with him being as indecisive as ever for over two minutes. Which doesn’t seem like a long time but it is when you’re holding up a line of hangry customers who can’t really express their frustrations at the literal prince.
“Hm? No, that won’t be necessary Yuiko. I know what I would like to order.” A sigh of relief escaped her at last. Diavolo’s face beamed with unbridled excitement as he expressed to the exasperated cashier that he would like to order one of everything on the menu.
“Excellent cho—what?!” Yuiko exclaimed. This wasn’t what she expected! Not out of Diavolo! Out of Beel? Honestly, if he didn’t order one of everything, she’d be concerned over whether he was sick or an impostor. But Diavolo? Not Diavolo!
“Well, I wasn’t sure what to order. And then I thought I may not have the chance to come here again. Besides, whatever we don’t finish, you can take home tonight. It is your turn to prepare dinner, is it not?” Diavolo, you sly dog. The best she could do was share a look of bewilderment with him. He’s full of so many surprises, she honestly finds it hard to keep up with him. But would she really have him any other way?
It took some time for the workers to prepare everything and once they did, Diavolo was over the moon. The first thing he reached for was the Big Aku. Yuiko just smiled and shook her head, laser focused on the AkuNuggets and a side order of fries. As his big eyes fell upon the large burger, she recalled the catchy slogan that was on every commercial for several weeks, advertising the meal.
And when he picked it up to take a bite, she suddenly remembered a crucial detail.
“Diavolo, wait! There are pickles on that!” She grabbed hold of his forearm, halting him from eating for just a moment. And as he paused, staring at her with wide eyes full of wonder that soon turned to horror, Diavolo just had one thought.
‘I’m glad she’s here with me.’
A/N: So this one's a bit shot than the last two but I think there's a good scene here. I originally wanted to post this earlier for Dia's birthday but time got away from me. Anyway, enjoy!

New Message!
From: Diavolo
>Hello, Yuiko.
>How are you finding the exchange program in the Devildom? Is anything troubling you?
>I know I’m always asking, but I truly wish for you to have a pleasant stay here.
Well, that was certainly a decent wake up call. Yuiko doesn’t normally fall asleep with her phone in her hand. It’s usually on the charger, propped up on her desk. But last night, Asmo insisted on staying on the phone with her until one of them fell asleep. She was certain it was her, seeing as said phone was situated limply in her hand while a dried trail of drool rested upon her chin.
“Mm, it’s too early for this kind of question…” She grumbled, sitting up with eyes squinting at her screen as her fingers lazily typed up a rather thoughtless response.
>No problems.
And moved to plug her phone in to charge. She was certain it would die halfway through the school day if she didn’t.
New Message!
From Diavolo:
>I’m glad to hear that.
>I will continue doing my best to support you.
Geez, he’s a fast texter. Before she could move away to go back to bed, he’d sent a reply. Yuiko gave it a quick glance before smiling, stretching her arms up high and climbing back into bed for a couple more minutes of sleep.
Later that day, after classes had let out, Yuiko was gathering up her things to head home when she received another series of messages from everyone’s favorite RAD Student Council President.
New Message!
From Diavolo:
>Do you mind doing me a favor, Yuiko?
>Between you and me, I’d like to check out the limited-time sale at Hell’s Supermarket that I heard from Beelzebub.
>Can you come with me?
Yuiko blinked. An invitation…to the grocery store? It was laughable, really. The longer she knew Diavolo, the more he cracked her up with his honest to God innocent requests. She really had to stop herself from scoffing at the notion, but she couldn’t keep the smile off her face as she sent her response.
>Consider it done!
Because why would she miss out on the chance to go grocery shopping with him? Sounds like a once in a lifetime chance, really. Who else would be able to say they've done such a thing, aside from Barbatos or maybe Lucifer. Besides, she could only imagine the kinds of things he’d say and the faces he’d make upon seeing all the things a supermarket has to offer.
New Message!
From Diavolo:
>Sticker Sent
>Thank you! I’m glad I asked you.
>To tell the truth, I’ve never visited places like Hell’s Supermarket before.
>However, Lucifer and Barbatos might talk me out of it if they found out I was going.
>I know I can rely on you, so I’d like you to show me around discreetly.
>I’m counting on you, Yuiko!
He's…never been to the supermarket? For a while, Yuiko just stared at her screen. Not in disbelief but in sadness. Sure, she laughed at first. Something like going to the grocery store was such a regular occurrence for her, it eventually became a chore, both here and back in the human world. To think that someone like him had never been, it was so sad. Worse still, the people closest to him would even discourage him from going. Like it was something bad.
Yuiko sighed, dropping her phone in her skirt pocket before gathering up her things and packing them away into her bag. She’d make a quick stop at the House of Lamentation to drop off her things then head off to the Demon Lord’s castle.
As she rode in the akuber, scenery consistently passing her by, her thoughts went back to Diavolo. He’d never been to places like the supermarket. And for some reason he felt so much confidence in her that he decided to ask her to join him and not two people he’s known for who knows how long. That warm feeling, she first felt in her chest when they texted not too long ago resurfaced and Yuiko cleared her throat as if to hastily ebb it away.
It wouldn’t do for her to entertain such wild thoughts. Because there’s no way he would….right? Not with her…
Yuiko quickly shoved those thoughts into the back of her mind as the car pulled up to the castle. After bidding her driver farewell, Yuiko stood outside the castle with hesitant motions. If this was meant to be discreet, she couldn’t very well waltz inside and announce her presence. Instead, she gave him a call to let him know that she’d arrived.
“Hello? Yuiko?” He answered on the first ring! Absolutely precious…
“Diavolo, I’m outside. Ahh, if you still want to go you-know-where, we should probably go now…” At this time of day, she imagined Barbatos may be busy preparing dinner. So much that he wouldn’t think to be keeping tabs on the Lord of the castle.
“Ohhh. Yes, I see. I will be right out. Wait for me, please.” He gave her a seemingly knowing response before hanging up. Yuiko stared at her phone screen for a few seconds before beginning to pace about in front of the castle gates. She casually kicked a stray piece of gravel before the sound of footsteps prompted her head to rise. And there he was, decked out in not so casual clothing.
In his defense, she supposed it was good he didn’t come out wearing his uniform but if he’s trying to be discreet, this simply won’t do.
“Yuiko! I hope I didn’t keep you waiting long. Shall we go?” He offered, extending a hand outward in a mock gesture.
“Sure, there’s just one problem.” His face fell quite instantly and Yuiko was debating about whether she should continue with this thought. He just looked so worried; it made her heartache!
“You can’t go out dressed like that. You’ll stick out like a sore thumb!”
Clearly taken aback by her bold declaration, Diavolo’s face said it all. And just as she feared, she began to regret running her big mouth.
“Hmm, is that so? What would you suggest, then?” Assuming that was all he had to wear when going out, Yuiko came with a quick suggestion.
“We’ll just have to stop by Majolish on the way to the supermarket. I’m sure they’ll have something that’ll look good on you.” She’d been enough times with the brothers to have a good idea of the kind of clothing they sell and was confident they’d have something that would serve the purpose.
With his seal of approval, the two set off into town. It was Diavolo’s idea to go on foot, figuring taking a car might not be inconspicuous enough. And as they walked along, engaging in small talk, Yuiko suddenly realized something quite striking.
She was going shopping with the Prince of Demons.
Oh...
As much as she tried to convince herself it wasn’t a big deal, the less she believed it. Because in the grand scheme of things, it definitely was. He was freaking prince for starters. And not just a prince of a country but of an entire realm. This was a HUGE deal.
Even still, hearing him speak animatedly about the sale and the items he was genuinely excited to shop for made her feel like no, it really wasn’t as serious as her brain was making it out to be. Maybe she’s just a bit crazy, that’s gotta be it.
After finally arriving at Majolish, she all but dragged him to the men’s department. Lucky for them, there seemed to be a sale going on alongside a new release of various clothing lines. Perfect timing! Being something of an expert in men’s fashion (because she knows what she likes on a man) Yuiko grabbed but a few pieces for him to try on then shoved him into the nearest fitting room, non-too gracefully. He’d forgive her later.
While he got dressed, Yuiko busied herself with scrolling through Devilgram and mass liking all of Levi’s posts since he evidently is under the impression that he’s her least favorite brother which couldn’t be further from the truth! How dare he...--.
“Yuiko?” Looking up at the sound of her name, her eyes drank in the neatly dressed figure of Diavolo standing before her. For this outing, she managed to find something that was both casual and didn’t take away from his naturally classy aura. She choose a gray hooded sweatshirt, black collared trench coat, black slacks and matching shoes.
And just as she pictured, he pulled it off extremely well. Only...
“Hmm...it’s missing something...” Accessory wise, he could use a little something extra. He’s already wearing a stylish watch so she’s leaning more towards glasses.
“There’s no sun here so sunglasses are out. Maybe...” A nice pair of black trimmed frames would be perfect. “Here! Put these on! And maybe...”
As he slid the frames up onto his ears and allowed them to rest comfortably along the bridge of his nose, Yuiko hummed again while giving him a long once over.
“What is it?” Genuinely concerned, Diavolo took her contemplative stance to mean something was amiss. Bless his heart.
“It’s the hair. Come a little closer?” Thanks to hanging around Mammon at photoshoots, she’s gotten into the habit of carrying around a small comb and travel size hairspray wherever she goes. His strands just needed a tiny bit of order, that’s all. She worked against his side part, bringing the bangs to the center, covering his forehead. As she combed through his hair, with his face much closer to hers than it had ever been, that heat in her chest began to rekindle and even rise to her cheeks some. It only worsened when she locked eyes with him and subsequently froze up. The way he looked at her, it made her feel things she hadn’t felt since...well...ever.
“Th-There, that should do it.” And just in time. She wasn’t sure she’d be able to have him in such proximity for much longer.
“Ah, thank you Yuiko. I knew I had made the right decision in asking you to join me.” That smile was the final nail in the coffin that happened to double as her heart. Dear Celestial Realm above, what was happening?? Swallowing back her present anxiety and this baseball sized lump down her throat, Yuiko showed a smile which clearly appeased him enough for the two to head toward the check out.
Then he stopped.
“Why don’t you pick out something as well? See it as my way of thanking you for agreeing to come with me.” He offered. And while Yuiko definitely wasn’t against accepting, that sadness she felt earlier reared its ugly head again. She’s got a regular rotation of emotions apparently.
What made her feel sad was this idea of his that he somehow needed to compensate her for simply hanging out with him. Like it was her job or a duty of some kind. She didn’t feel burdened or inconvenienced by him, not in the slightest.
“Ahh, okay. Sure! Just for future reference, though, since we’re friends there’s no need to thank me. Hanging out with you is fun and I enjoy...this kind of…” Feeling a piercing gaze upon her, Yuiko stopped and looked up from the rack of skirts she was going through, surprised to find him gleaming at her with such intensity, she nearly looked away.
“You really feel that way? That hanging out with me is fun?” Oof. There goes another one of cupid’s arrows into her heart. Why is he like this?!
“Uh yeah.” She unintentionally stammered over her words because she honestly wasn’t expecting him to have such a stunned reaction. “I mean, and I’m not just saying this, but you’re really down to earth—down to Devildom...? Whatever! You’re just easy going and I like spending time with you.”
Right as she finished, she cursed at the amount of warmth presently building up around her chest and threatening to spread. That spew of words would surely haunt her tonight as she laid down to go to sleep that night. But she meant it.
“Is that so? Hmm. I will keep that in mind.” He smiled his usual smile with Yuiko noticing a hint of glee in his tone. He typically sounded rather happy on the regular but in this moment, it was like he was beaming with true gladness. Part of her just wanted to brush it off but another part was secretly hoping he was happy about what she said.
Whatever! She had an outfit to pick out and they had a grocery store to hit up!
In the end, Yuiko picked out a black and white, knee length, plaid pencil skirt with a slight slit going up the left thigh, an oversized charcoal sweater to tuck into the waist of the skirt, fleece lined black tights because it was pretty cold out and a pair of matte black booties. Diavolo insisted she add a crescent moon jewelry set and she honestly didn’t have the heart to decline. He really knew how to use that puppy look and she suspected Barbatos is the one he’s been practicing on.
“We should really get going. It’s getting close to dinner time, and I’d hate for you to get in hot water with Barbatos if he notices you’re not at the castle.” They’d finally left Majolish, dressed in fresh outfits with their previous clothing in shopping bags which Diavolo volunteered to carry.
“Haha, I appreciate the concern. However, I’m certain your housemates would be in a much bigger uproar if you were late for dinner.” He remarked. And while there was certainly some truth to his words, she really couldn’t bring herself to be overly concerned about her absence. Sure, they might be put off, but they’ll get over it.
“Aside from that, Barbatos is well aware of that fact that I stepped out. He knows me quite well and seems to have a sixth sense about these kinds of things. Sure, he doesn’t really approve of such outings but there isn’t much he can do to dissuade me.”
“Why would he disapprove of you going out?” This was something she had been curious about since he messaged her about going out. That both Barbatos and Lucifer were seemingly opposed to him going places. Could it be his position? His status? His behavior? She couldn’t really understand what the reasoning was behind such a stance.
“Hmm. Well, I have a certain image to uphold. As such, he is more inclined to hold me accountable. It’s nice to have him as an advisor in the sense that he is consistent in having my best interest at heart...”
“But?” She was waiting for the but. And he chuckled, clearly on the fence about further voicing his opinion on the matter. She had noticed that his expression tends to fall slightly whenever he must face a difficult truth. His strides took a pause, and she stopped as well, looking back only to meet a pleading gaze which struck her heart suddenly.
“Can I burden you with the truth?” Being told things in confidence is something she’s grown used to. With the opportunity presented to her, of course she agreed without question. Especially considering how carefully he phrased it.
“Sure, I won’t tell anyone. I promise.”
“There are times in which I wish I could be anyone else. Moments, hours, even for a day. It is dangerously wishful thinking, considering my position and responsibilities. Even so...”
“It would be nice to have someone to indulge you in these kinds of activities.”
“Yes, exactly!” His face lit up in obvious relief. Relief in being understood, in having his concerns validated, in being heard. She can’t even begin to imagine what it’s like to have the burden of being the sole heir on his shoulders, let alone not having the freedom to just have fun.
“I get it, yeah. Hmm. If you want, I can be that person for you. We’ll call it...the fun friend! It’ll be our little secret that’s not really a secret.” She can’t really pin what exactly prompted her to make such an offer. Perhaps she felt sorry for him. Maybe she wanted him to be happy to some extent. Or maybe she wanted him to have someone he could turn to that could be sort of a bad influence. Who knows?
But the genuine look of both surprise and elation that fell over his countenance made all the reasons worth it.
A/N: I haven't unlocked all of Dia's messages, but I have a good amount to keep writing. That said, if you see a text convo that you'd like to see turned into a little ficlet, let me know! I'll see if I have it and I'll whip up a quick story about it. For now, Lord Diavolo's Fast Food Adventure is up next!
My Secret, My Everything - Diavolo x Female!MC Part One
Summary: What started off as two friends awkwardly texting back and forth blossomed into a beautiful romance that no one can ever know of. Spoilers up to Lesson 21.
MC's name is Yuiko.
Part One | Part Two | Part Three
It all started with a text…
Life in the Devildom had finally seemed to calm down for Yuiko. She’d made pacts with all the brothers, ended her one year stay in the demon realm, and even made an impromptu visit back. This, of course, caught everyone off guard, but she was easily able to assimilate back into everyday life quite quickly.
She attended classes, completed her lessons, periodically kept Beel from consuming all the food and fridge and even managed to talk Mammon out of several poorly plotted schemes. All in all, she’d say life was going well!
Until Diavolo texted her out of the blue one day.
New Message!
From Diavolo:
>This is my account.
>Feel free to send me a message at any time.
An angry sticker followed the first two messages which understandably threw her off.
“What the heck’s that supposed to mean?” She muttered to herself, eyes reading over the messages with obvious confusion. She was in the middle of completing her homework when her D.D.D. went off suddenly. Then once again as another series of messages came through.
New Message!
From Diavolo:
>Oh sorry.
>I haven’t gotten used to this yet.
>You see, Lucifer is the only demon who sends me messages.
Another sticker came through, this one conveying happiness. Ahh, that made sense. She scoffed slightly. Diavolo could be such a dork sometimes. It was honestly quite cute.
New Message!
From Diavolo!
>That’s the one I wanted to send you!
She then responded in turn by sending a sticker back, one that said ‘Thanks’ with a smiling character. From there, the two of them just exchanged stickers until he exhausted the inventory and she exhausted herself from her assignments.
Thus, began this very strange but addicting relationship over text messages.
~~~~~
With the weekend finally upon her, Yuiko liked to spend her Saturday’s out and about. She’d visit shops, sometimes with Asmo or Mammon, do some window shopping, pick up some trinkets, then head home after picking up some food. Perhaps from Hell’s Kitchen or some new café that opened recently. The Devildom was always bustling with fresh shops and restaurants.
New Message!
From Diavolo:
>Ah, Yuiko. Something sad happened today.
>I went to eat out in town, and I got a side of pickles with my main dish.
That…-- huh??
Yuiko blinked as his message popped up in her notifications. It was so random yet so Diavolo at the same time. She quickly typed up a response and hit sent.
>Did you eat it?
New Message!
From Diavolo:
>Yes, of course. It was pure torture.
>You see, there were people watching, so I couldn’t let it go to waste.
>But it put me in such a foul moon. I’ve still got the taste of pickles in my mouth.
Wow. She nearly laughed out loud! Who knew pickles were the arch nemesis of Diavolo! She never would’ve imagined. Ahh, but he takes these things quite seriously, so it must’ve been bad for him to express it like that. She honestly doesn’t have the heart to tease him like she would say if it were Lucifer or Belphie.
>I’m proud of you.
And she was. She imagined as the future King of the Devildom, he can’t really afford to do something as childish as refuse to eat something when he’s out in public. It could very well affect his image, after all.
New Message!
From Diavolo:
>Sticker sent
>I can’t stand this taste. Perhaps I’ll ask Barbatos to make me some tea as a palate cleanser.
>You should also have something nice tonight. Please, eat well and sleep tight.
Oh. That was…kind of sweet. Yuiko’s gaze softened as she reread the message, smile growing wider as the seconds passed on. She even felt a little warmth pooling in her chest. But it quickly cooled off as she continued back to the House of Lamentation.
All the while, she couldn’t help but wonder if this sort of thing was just how he texted or if there was more to the message that she could read into.
…and spiraled into something I never would’ve imagined.
~~~~~
A/N: So, I decided to write this based on the messages you received periodically from Diavolo as you complete lessons and such. This is really just a prologue of sorts. I'm more than happy to continue if enough people like it/want to read more. Let me know!
Also yes, the title was inspired by the song My Secret, My Everything by Sondia and Vincent Blue from the kdrama Sh**ting Stars. I'd been listening to it on repeat for days while writing this without really knowing what the lyrics meant and I recently finished the drama and I was reading the subtitles, I finally understood the song and it. Just. Fit. So here we are! The show is phenomenal, and the song is addictingly beautiful. Enjoy!
So I took like a year and a half break from posting and playing Obey Me and I recently picked the game back up, thus reigniting my love for all things Diavolo. I even started writing a fic!
In short, I’ll be posting here more often about the game and the best boy. uwu
Okay but like during the second boss battle of the event, when Solomon activated his confusion ability, who else died?? This is my first time battling Solomon but I was cracking UP 😂😂
