@peettamellarrk
at some point in your life you will be boiling fruit, water, sugar, and lemon juice in a pot to make a syrup or jam. the instructions will tell you to simmer for a certain amt of time. your timer will go off and you will look at the pot and go, "hm, this doesn't look thick enough. maybe i'll let it go for another 10 minutes." this is the devil speaking. it's only so liquid right now because it is at boiling point. it will thicken when it cools down. learn from the follies of my youth and do not let this happen to you

Closed top. He’s learning.
Heterosexual relationship culture is so alien to me and I don’t know if it’s the fact I’m not cishet or the fact I’m autistic but I hear so many things that make me go “Am I insane or are they?”
There’s a lot of hate on widowers and I saw a woman say “You cannot compete with a dead woman.” which is perhaps a reasonable statement to say if he’s constantly comparing you to his dead partner but that wasn’t what the post was about. And I realized “Oh my God, these people genuinely feel like they’re constantly in competition with their spouse’s exes and the ex being dead makes them feel insecure that they cannot best her.”
There’s also been an uptick in the ‘men and women cannot be ‘just’ friends’ rhetoric which I feel like is extremely dangerous and reflects the rise of fascism and sexism. Some of these stories of women feeling threatened by their husband’s female best friend have some merit and others are like “I feel angry that my husband still talks to the girl he grew up next door to and she and her wife are invited to family gatherings and included in family photos sometimes. Am I right to be suspicious?” No. No you’re not. I cannot imagine being you and living with that high level of stress and paranoia and constant torment and jealousy about your husband having a positive relationship with anyone who isn’t you.
okay look i know this isn't relevant to this post past the second paragraph but. here's the thing. the facts of the case are as follows:
1) I am widowed. my Beloved Wife of Blessed Memory(tm) died in 2019
2) I got together with my current partner about 18 months later
3) when I am committing acts of Foolishness my current partner loves to gesture at the sky to my dead wife, like "do you see this shit, my liege" and regularly says to me things like "[wife's name] was right about this" when my Foolishness inevitably comes back to bite me in the ass
4) this happens. all the time
more importantly:
5) my current partner is on tumblr
6) they love to incessantly send me posts
WHICH MEANS:
7) they just sent me this post with this commentary:
8) they really, really are ganging up on me with her. god help us if there's an afterlife and those two ever actually meet. "eternal rest" my ass, i will never know peace again
"You make me want things I didn't think I deserved" for everlark?
Thank you so much for the prompt anon! I hope you enjoy this fluffy little piece <3
Soft sentence starter prompts
It starts when the toy shop opens up in town. It’s bigger than the one that was here before, that largely stocked small handcrafted wooden items, and a few fancier pieces for those who could afford it. This shop, however, looks like it has everything a child could ever wish for. Dolls, skipping ropes, ball games, even a wooden train set! What really catches my eye though is a toy bear sat proudly in the shop window. I don’t really know what it is about him, perhaps it’s his golden fur, or the kind look on his face, or maybe it’s the soft blue bow tied round his neck. Either way, I can’t help thinking that whatever child gets him will be very lucky.
“Alright?” Peeta asks, joining me with a bag stocked full of groceries.
“Yeah. It’s nice that this is here now, don’t you think?”
Peeta agrees and takes my hand.
Later that night, I curl into Peeta’s side. “Hey, Peeta. What kind of toys did you have as a kid?”
“Let’s see,” he says circling an arm round me, “I had a couple of those wooden animals from Campbell’s old shop, but I was mostly just given dough to play with. I did have a toy rabbit with floppy ears that my Granny go me when I was born though.”
The thought of Peeta tucked up in bed with a cuddly toy makes me smile, never mind the rest of his toys seemed to be made out of dough.
“Why d’you ask?”
I shake my head, “just curious.”
“What did you have?” he pulls me closer to him.
“Well, my mother used to make us dolls out of old bits of cloth that she’d tied together, and then sometimes if we had spare thread she’d give them hair too and I had a set of marbles that my father treated me to on my birthday one year.”
“I can’t imagine you with a doll,” he smiles.
“I was really little,” I protest.
“What was your doll’s name?”
“Daisy.”
His grin widens his eyes light up.
“You’re teasing me!” I scowl at him
“I’m not, I promise!” He drops a kiss on my hair line and nuzzles his face into my neck, “I think it’s sweet that’s all. It’s nice that your parents made you stuff.”
I suppose I was lucky that my mother and father always found ways to give Prim and I something lovely, so I accept Peeta’s kiss of apology.
I don’t stop thinking about the bear. Every time I’m in town, I pass by the toyshop and say a private little hello to him, his face reminding me of a hopeful future ahead. Until one day he’s not there anymore. I try to tell myself it’s fine. I’m twenty years old, what use do I have for a stuffed bear anyway? Some child in the district is probably over the moon right now. The thought of the lucky child with their beautiful new toy, doesn’t stop the disappointment I feel as I mull over my cup of tea waiting for Peeta to come home.
“Katniss?” he calls when he eventually arrives back from the bakery.
“In here!”
Peeta joins me in the living room and I reach my head up to kiss him. “How’s it going?” he asks.
“Fine,” I shrug.
“Just fine?”
“Yeah, I’m okay.” I offer him a smile to show him that I really am fine.
He puts down the bag he’s carrying and sits beside me, placing a hand on my thigh. “Well, I have something for you that might cheer you up.”
“Peeta, really I’m okay!” I tell him, but I can’t help the smile creeping onto my lips.
“Please, just close your eyes and hold out your hands.”
I do as I’m told, closing my eyes and holding out my hands. I hear a rustle and then the weight of something soft being placed in my hands.
“Okay, open them,” Peeta tells me softly.
When I do, I’m staring into the friendly faced of the stuffed bear from the shop window, blue ribbon and all.
My mouth gapes open, at a loss for words. “Peeta…how did you-“
“Katniss,” he laughs, rubbing circles on my knee, “you looked at it every time we passed by the shop window in town, it wasn’t hard to figure out.”
I hold the bear close to my chest and squeeze my eyes shut. I feel the warm rush of love course through my veins and all of a sudden I burst into tears.
“What’s wrong?” Peeta asks, “do you not like it?”
“No, no, of course I like it,” I reassure him, “it’s just, it’s just you make me want things I didn’t think I deserve!” I get out through sniffles.
“Oh, honey,” he draws me into his arms, “you deserve so much more than you could possibly imagine. He kisses me through the tears and I hold the bear snuggly between us. Maybe, just maybe I could start to believe that. “So, have you got a name for this guy yet?” Peeta asks, looking down at the toy cushioned between our hearts.
I look down at the bear, considering for a moment, “Basil,” I say with a small smile.
“Basil it is then.”
I think people no longer understand that "viewer discretion is advised" does not mean "vaguely bad content ahead," it means View At Your Own Discretion. As in, if you see the content going in a direction that is unsuitable for you in any way, it is your responsibility to stop viewing. Don't blame creators for your failure to listen to your own warning signs. Nobody is forcing you to finish the episode, the chapter, the sentence. That's all you.
Fanfiction is free therapy, except the therapist is making you suffer on purpose and you're thanking them in the comments.
i keep seeing well-meaning posts about tagging on ao3 claiming that 'no archive warnings apply' means a fic is fluffy and wholesome and maybe smutty but can be trusted contain nothing upsetting. and from the bottom of my heart, please, this is so wrong. like, even aside from the fact that 'upsetting' is a very personal definition, it literally just means that none of the big four archive warnings apply, and i promise you it's very possible to write a DEEPLY upsetting fic that contains none of those things.
i cannot fully express my hatred for ai generated «fanart»
i fear you’re not a real fan of a creator’s art if you steal other people’s work to generate an uncanny valley-esque composition bc you refuse to do it yourself or seek out a real artist bc your own imagination is lacking
go touch grass, i’m so fucking tired of ai character depictions (i refuse to call them art) being the primary form of content when i look up a new character/ship
I know we all love the toast baby daughter but the toast baby son is also so precious to me because he’s proof Katniss and Peeta adored their first child so much that they wanted another. How can people think Katniss’s children were concessions to Peeta when they had a chance to stop it at one to keep him happy but they went and had another? They love their little family so much and wanted it to grow. A little boy who will always feel loved to complement a big sister who won’t have the weight of the world on her shoulders. Who have parents who will always make them feel safe and protected.
it's so wild to me that you absolutely cannot force a hyperfixation to happen. like you'll watch the most perfectly tailor-made-for-you content that everyone says you'll love and feel absolutely nothing, and then the thing you watch on a whim to fill time will reach through the screen and put its damn fingers in your brain and start rearranging the neurons right in front of you and every single time you're like THIS??? THIS??????? and this happens like every 6-12 months forever

Peeta: We need to prepare to fight to the death in the arena for the second year in a row. It’s time to spend every hour of the day pushing our bodies past the absolute limits training to go up against these hardened killers. Katniss, you can’t fuck around because I will be dying for you and you will be coming home. If I see you drink alcohol ever again I’m calling the police on you.
Katniss:
Katniss: but you couldn’t even give me a little kiss?
So after takes place after they both cum, btw. Peeta’s still fully buried, to the hilt, has not pulled out and probably won’t. He asks her “you love me, real or not real” and she says “real” as he’s still inside her and then they nap together and wake up later and that’s when he pulls out. So they can shower together. Where Katniss sits on his lap in his shower chair.
HARD AGREE BESTIE!! And you’re right, Peeta did tell us this 💀
